3 days of rain is the perfect excuse to hide away and say you can’t make it to train. For those who like making excuses, this is heavenly. Except the fact that many of you are STILL making it to train, still busting your behind to get personal bests, still making it to the gym to feel good every day, both inside and out, and we love your grit and determination and making exercise a big  part of your life, and we thank you for it.

3 days of not exercising won’t make you feel better either. 3 days of slouching means 3 days of depleting your energy reserves. Anything you want in life that is worthwhile needs good to great energy levels, watching boxsets all day doesn’t require any energy but doesn’t give you anything in return in terms of self-pride and satisfaction you get from pushing yourself physically.

3 days of not moving means your body will get a bit stiffer and all those aches and pains will only get stronger. If you’re complaining about aching, then not moving has a HUGE part to do with it, no matter what story you try to tell yourself.

3 days away from the gym means you miss out on 3 days worth of motivation. 3 days without exercising next to someone who flying on that rowing machine when it could be you, flying lifting more weights and flying in life with their ultra-positive attitude.

3 days without exercising because of some heavy rain means you are easily influenced, and your true grit you need inside of you may be in question.

The moments of doubt you face in life will shape your future for the better or worse. The reality is that 3 days of heavy rain is nothing and its only a tiny test to see how much you want great things in life.

We believe in you, think bigger and let the most positive environment around  lift you up another 20 levels just when you need it before Christmas!

Tuesday, 17th December

Don’t get out of breath climbing stairs anymore, you really have it within you not to.
5 mins on the ski machine will contribute to that NEVER happening. A session on the weights will help you with everything in life and give you enormous strength for daily life, 10 minus on the rower will give you great endurance, some workouts outside at the back of the gym will give you unbelievable power and purpose in your life.
Those workouts are not for supermen/superwomen, we have lots of 70 year olds who do ALL of these things 3-4 times a week.
Don’t ever quit on yourself when you have a host of options to get it right before it’s too late. Start off gently, make sure you get coached on how to do it right every session and show up often.
If you get more excited about party food than being able to breathe properly this christmas, then you need to look at your priorities. Breathing is your number one right in life, but you need to get your body going and that means getting active and working out with purpose.
If you are in decent shape, then ALL clothes and outfits will look good on you, there are no clothes out there that will hide the fact that you haven’t been working hard enough all year. Don’t let anyone fool you on that.
The biggest christmas gift you can give yourself is exercising and eating right, it is indeed a lifestyle that you will love once you get into it and it will be truly invaluable to the life you want to live.
It’s never too late to feel better, to be happy with yourself both inside and out and create a life without any barriers or limitations.
It’s never too late to be able to run after your kids or grandkids instead of permanently complaining you’re too old. Get back in the game and OFF the sidelines of life.
The only one stopping it happen is you and the opportunities you are not taking.
Make it happen.

Monday, 16th December

The conversation “have you started to eat rubbish yet” is a yearly event at the gym, but this year more and more of you are saying “I don’t want to feel like rubbish so I’m still eating tidy”.

Before you started, you may have been eating rubbish all of the time and not exercising so you felt like rubbish ALL of the time and got used to it.

Now you have had a transformational event like starting training, eating well, looking after yourself. The effect on the body can be life-changing.

So why would you want to go back and feel rubbish all over again?

Peer pressure? Work colleagues, family and friends wanting to see you eating rubbish and strongly encouraging you to eat whatever you want all of the time?

No problem with having a bit of what you fancy this time of year but it makes all the difference to the way you feel, and you know that by now.

I love a party as much as anyone else, it’s all a matter of balance, doing the things YOU want to do and FEELING the way you want to feel.

You know exactly how to feel better by now, you know exercise gives you a great natural high and you know how bad so called “party food” will make you feel.

ALL your choice and its a free country, but you have it within your power to feel as good as you want to feel.

Sunday, 15th December

A week or so until Christmas and we have a huge week to come. All of those things that you looked daft at me when I announced them in September are arriving this week.

I’m talking basketball, netball, football posts and almost 5 metre rig with all sorts of exercises on it.

The incredible new floodlighting system will be finished this week, it’s already benefiting us immensely.

We have developed a relentless need to improve the last few years, and it’s become a recurring theme.

We have to keep getting better, and a lot of that attitude has rubbed off on most of you too.

It maybe 10 days until christmas, but we STILL have plenty of time to improve.

Are you going to go through the motions like most people do and avoid the gym, and “pig out” to coin a phrase used widely this time of year?

OR will you continue to be different and think differently? I love parties, I love enjoying just like you and everyone expects you to eat a bit more and differently over the next couple of weeks, but that’s no excuse for you to give up your war with the dumbbells at the gym.

That relentless need to get better should be engrained in you, and you should be used to feeling better, and using exercise as the catalyst to achieve that feeling of constant wellbeing.

This last full week of training is your opportunity to finish off the year ON TOP and go into Christmas full of optimism, feeling a sense of great achievement and feeling that anything is indeed possible going into 2020.

Thursday, 12th December

Whoever you vote for tonight, not everyone will be happy in the morning. Many are disillusioned with politicians, and we all learn not to believe everything that politicians say, it’s what they do that count.

If you think of your entire lifetime though, and the work you need to make a career or business work, and the other stuff you need to be happy and healthy, then it’s your daily habits will make you or break you more than any politician. What you do daily will help you survive and thrive even through bad and good governments.

The way you start your day is all important. If you get up early, then you straight away take out the “i don’t have enough time” excuse. You will have quiet time and get things done you complain you can’t do the rest of your day. Over time you will realise that starting your day early is the most powerful driver to you making massive progress, we all have 168 hours every week, we all have the same starting line.

If you put exercise at the heart of what you do 3 times a week, you will feel better full stop. You will have energy like you’ve never experienced before. Anything that’s really worth getting takes time, so you need to be in it for the long haul and that applies to exercise AND the thing you are trying to be successful at, you need to show endless consistency and you will need endless energy too.

With enough energy and being relentless, anything is possible and so many of you prove every day.

Anyone I have ever trained has felt great when they are training, but their mood can drop considerably when they don’t-FACT. Mental health is a blight on too many people’s health, and exercise helps enormously for you to feel better, I see great examples daily.

Sky news can often make you feel angry and miserable on the way some politicians act, but your workout literally changes your mind for the better with the chemical changes in your brain, this is scientific fact, helping you see the world far more positively and seeing that there are more opportunities than you ever thought.

The positive environment in a gym that helps you every time is usually filled with positive people, can lift your day and change your life as gym members often find it’s good to talk.

Hanging out daily in a positive environment  has been proven to lift you up, change the way you think, and go for the things that previously you may not have gone for on the basis that someone else may not “have approved”. Live life on your own terms and not somebody else’s and be happy.

All we want down here is the same opportunities as anywhere else in the country including London where laws are made, as our local people constantly prove that we have as much talent as ANYWHERE else, and achieve great things on a daily basis.

With the right habits, you will outlast and out-perform any government and live a life that YOU create, be happy with, impact your community positively and look back on with great pride.
