Monday’s the driver

I go on about it now and again, but isn’t it so that monday is your number one driver for a new week?

Here we are again, we are right here again, right at the heart of your decisions on whether you’re going to have a good week or not. That is correct, your “decision” on whether to have a good week or not!

It’s not somehow “beyond your ability” to have a great week is it? Of course not!

I may sound repetitive here but monday is so important to your week and good week”s make a good month, which means SUBSTANTIAL progress. This is what we’re after at the end of the day, so your momentum starts right here for the next 5days right up until friday night.

If you stop your excuses right now, you could be well on your way this week to making a substantial dent in your body fat, to a more impressive hard body, to lots and lots more energy, if you want to be one of those people who seems to attack life head on and get results, then you have to get out there today/tonight and get a great workout under your belt.

Then you have a shower, you have a meal of good protein such as chicken, turkey, lean beef, any kind of fish, with some good carbs such as wholewheat pasta, brown rice, sweet/jacket/new potatoes, with a wide variety of vegetables. Then you have a well-earned sleep and wake up on tuesday feeling well-rested, full of energy and full of wonderment on what your new day has to offer.

REALLY THIS CAN HAPPEN!!

If you manage to have a week full of these habits, you are on course, you are on the road to amazing health and fitness. Does this sound far-fetched, hope it doesnt because you are very capable of doing it.

 As jean says, its about moderation so have a bit of what you fancy at  the weekend, as long as it doesnt turn out to be one huge blowout!!

Anyway, back to right now and the job at hand, its monday and lets make it happen, a big future awaits for you if you do!!

Do the basics change?

So we have made all of these posts, over a whole range of topics, and the big question is, has it made things easier, do the same problems exist and has your approach to solving them changed?

We started this blog off preaching the basics, and no matter what, these basics will always serve you well and will be key elements in your progress. This never changes.

Your progress will naturally go down a bit, and go up a bit, but when you REALLY want to get in your best shape, if you revert to eating well and every 3-4 hours, eating the right portion size, snacking healthily, as well as putting some quality training sessions in, you know that big things will happen for your body and your health in general.

I think society always looks for the “magic” cure, the one way that will really work this time and if you can only keep it up for two weeks, you will somehow be in great shape!

You know by now that this is nonsense and many of you will have spent A LOT of money finding out the hard way, which is never good!

That’s why many of you are here, you’re fed up with people who lead you a merry dance, people who promise short term weight loss, and are not around to pick up the pieces when everything falls apart and you put all the weight back on. How many times has that happened?!!

I see many times of people, from a professional rugby player who suddenly finds out that his training methods are not so great after all and needs to be put right, to senior people who are worried if their joints are going to seize up on them, from teenagers who are all consumed with their appearance, to housewives who have been on every diet going, and see me as their last resort!!

If you’ve followed this for a while, you know i always keep on about the importance of doing the right things, day in day out if you are interested in long term success, both inside and out. It can be done and i have huge evidence to say so right now, and seen it with my own eyes.

This is week of the basics, so lets make sure we’re all back on the same page!!

Beach break live in pembrey

Seems as if it went very well after all and even locals close to pembrey country park give it the big thumbs up, despite local worries in the build up. Those who live in garreglwyd seems to agree it was good for the area.

I was open minded about it unlike the local councillors (who often express views not in people’s best interests, more like their own). I am positive about most young people today, and to give them every chance, we all make mistakes and its part of growing up.

One pub/cafe by the station made more in a week than he probable does in 6 months, he was open all day and may help him survive. Also, i did see local business benefitting and spoke to them about it. Yes, there were those who didnt get work, and i feel very sorry for them but there were local coaches and buses there too, as well as outside coaches. So there must have been some contracts put out there for tender under fair competition rules. Dont know the ins and outs so don’t me down!

Its easy for us to be negative but quite hard to be positive at times. Well done to the organisers, well done to all the students on their excellent behaviour and sense of fun and hope you come back next year. There were 14 arrests unfortunately but apparently they were local people.

Small time thinking?

I saw thousands of visitors arriving for the Beach Break live festival down pembrey country park earlier, and what a welcome sight they were!

This is bringing a lot of money into a community that has been particularly hard hit by the recession, and many pubs and taxi’s were seen up to their eyes with work earlier, this can only be a good thing because these businesses are either not even open or have little trade during this time. There are not many sustainable businesses in burry port, and this should be a welcome boost for them, despite all the negative comments they have issued in the press!

It always makes me laugh when some small town thinkers think that pembrey is doomed to be a place of sex, drugs and violence this week because of the festival, well ive got news for you, it is being run by a highly professional organisation who have done many such events in the past, and its nice to see a high police presence, sadly lacking in burry port usually. And the funniest thing is, anyone who lives in burry port/pembrey is well aware of the sex, drugs, booze, violence that goes on EVERY weekend here anyway!

My guess is that the event will be run very well, the economy will benefit hugely and the youngsters attending will have  fun and entertaining time, what’s wrong with that?

Some people have the same small time thinking to their training, there is only one way to do things, there is a certain amount of time they need to train for, there are only certain movements or exercises they should do etc etc. The lack of variety in one’s training can seriously halt or push back your progress, just because you’re not prepared to do different things from time to time.

If you read through these pages, its encouraged you do different things, i do encourage putting firm foundations down, but this should be supported by varied activities which should also be fun. You should be getting more than sweat out of your workouts, you should be invigorated, energised and totally enthused about your week of training.

It helps too if you live by the coast, which many of you so lets get out there and use the coastal attractions, come on let’s really get out there and do it!!!

Please don’t do the SAME OLD routines every week, train inside AND outside, you will absolutely love it when you get all that fresh air down you, you don’t have to train in front of everyone and nobody likes an audience!

Its a nice week coming up so let’s walk the talk and do it, change it every couple of weeks and show how imaginative you can be, you are literally limited only by your imagination so lets do it!!
