The world’s most famous investor, Warren Buffet “the sage of Omaha”, was recently asked after 70 years of investing what his best investment advice would be.

Would it be investing in a pension? A long term bond, a stock market tracker?

He replied that “the single best investment you can make is in YOURSELF”.

Start by becoming a life-long learner, it’s often said the most successful people are the ones with the biggest libraries. Nowadays you can study in “traffic university, meaning you listen to a book in the car, when you walk the dog anywhere, so that idle time is made best use of.

You can often read/listen to a book in a week this way. I can’t read more than a page, it’s the only way I can do it is through listening.Time is your greatest resource, make the most of it.

What about your investment in your health? Do you have little or a lot of energy? If you don’t have much energy, how are you going to have the stamina and endurance to achieve great things every day?

If you commit to exercising and eating healthier, building up slowly but showing up regular, you will soon get meaningful results if you stick at it. A good coach will make you accountable, and take you to places you may not have thought possible.

What’s your environment like? Do you hang out with energy vampires (people who suck the life out of you), or do you associate with people who will lift you every day, who will encourage you to try new things and become more?

That’s the whole point, you have to BECOME more if you want more in life. Your health is the absolute cornerstone of all of this, and you’d be nothing without it.

I have trained many people with a lot of money and many with poor health to start, but each and every one of them told me they wished they looked after themselves better when they were younger, and they would trade all their money for good health if they could rewind the clock again. Don’t live life with any regrets.

However much you invest in yourself in terms of health, learning new skills and making sure you are in the right environment, you will get back a thousand times over.

Wednesday, 21st August

Your mojo, your energy, your motivation, your get up and go is all linked to how much you move and we have science to prove it.

I have seen the most down people in a sad way come into the gym, and slowly transfer into joyous, fired up people who are willing to take anything on in life.

The transition and secret way they became literally different people is linked to their exercise habit. I have said many times of the study by Harvard university that a combination of chemicals called BDNF is finally let off in your brain when you take part in exercise.

If you are regular exerciser, then your brain in going to feel better from the chemical explosion going on in your brain, your mind is going to get in a much better place, and you will channel your thoughts into a much more productive direction.

When you focus on more positive channels, your time is going to be taken up on self-improvement without even thinking about it. It is not selfish to self-improve because you’re going to be so much more resourceful to help so many other people, especially those closest to you. Your most treasured people will see a massive change in you, and very much for the better.

When you are down on energy and in a deeply negative place, then you never think you can help anyone else as you first have yourself to worry about. When you are struggling yourself, it’s usually your own internal battles you must sort out first.

Once the BDNF gets released in your brain, on a daily basis if you move more every day, it’s then that the magic can start.

You may moan at your life now but you can only change that situation if you are willing to change too. So an automatic brain change for the better would be most welcome, and being more positive and resourceful without even thinking about would be highly desirable and life-changing.

Exercise may be most associated with the body, but it’s in your mind that often the biggest transformation takes place.

When we had the signs done for the gym, we approached one of the best companies around, and I think you will agree they are highly impressive and still look great. They coast £1650 but are definitely worth it.

Anyway, when he asked what do you want up there, one of the things I wanted up there all those years ago was STRENGTH & CONDITIONING on the side too.

He advised me not to put too many things up and keep it plain and simple, which looks great now.

Strength and conditioning is WHAT WE DO. If you are improving someone’s performance more or less every time they come or at least every week, we are doing a great job on your strength and conditioning.

If we are preventing injury for you regularly, then we are doing a great job for your STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING.

We do not need to use fancy terminology, our results SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.

If we can get someone with ten knee operations to run up a hill with a big Bulgarian bag on their shoulders ten times in a row, we have improved their STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING.

If we can make a pro athlete get better performances on the pitch, we are doing our job full stop.

WE MAKE YOU STRONGER, MORE FLEXIBLE AND make your have a core of iron each and every day, its what we do, its what feeds my kids and its why my kids can eat on the dinner table every night and my mortgage is paid. WE LIVE BIG DREAMS EVERY DAY.

It is why we are due a massive expansion in the next 5 weeks and we literally go from strength to strength. All that strength and conditioning makes you fight off osteoporosis, keeps you out of pain and makes you into phenomenal athletes into your 60’s, 70’s and 80’s!!!

You can tell I’m extremely passionate about this. WE ARE ALL ABOUT RESULTS and not boasting or bragging.

We love you coming, we love having you and we love making you way stronger and so much better conditioned!!!

Monday, August 19th

The weekend is a great and important time to relax, which makes Monday a great day to go to WAR.

Monday is the day you have to get stuff done and done right. From my point of view, I must make sure everyone is on track, everyone understands and everyone is on the same page.

The war part comes in because we have to work at a certain standard, or our reputation suffers. Every one of you must come out having had a great workout.

Everyone one of you must come out of the gym mentally in a better place.

If one person is allowed to work underneath their usual high standards, then others may think it’s okay to come into the gym and go through the motions.

Our atmosphere is created by all of you creating new personal bests and often. Margaret with her two hip replacements this morning for example, went on the treadmill for the first time. She was on 0.5 miles an hour just to start, but you know with her she will be ONLY improving from there, like her big run up the hill last week.

Her inspiration comes from watching others doing incredible things. Many of us though feed off the inspiration SHE gives to others, we all need to bounce off each other every workouts and every workout needs to be a battle that if we come in with the right attitude, we are ALWAYS capable of winning.

Make no mistake about it, whenever you walk through the door I want a LOT out of you, its great having a chat and its great to make great new friends (which is important), but all day every day I’m looking for a war like performance that will you make you very proud when it comes to results day at the end of the month.
