Wedneday, 27th March

If we have talked a lot about results this week, and it sounds like a wonderful situation to be in, and you think that YOU are not getting results so what i am saying is far-fetched, then you really need to change the way you train and eat, and get out of the programme you are in right now!

Chances are that if you are not in our programme, you are stuck in either a

a. You’re not exercising at all.

b. You have exercised before, but because of a lack of progress, or a bad experience, you no longer have hope that exercise can work for you.

c. You DO exercise, but you get mediocre results, and really treading water when it comes to what you do, you are bored and feel no way out.

d.You exercise regularly, you try your best but are puzzled why you do not look at your best, and wonder if exercise is really the answer for you?

e. You try every fad going, the “next big thing” is surely going to work this time, and you get eternally disappointed by all the false promises that are somehow going to change your life!!

f. You just go to slimming clubs, but like the 97% of others (according to multiple research companies) fail and put all the weight back on and 5% on average (again according to research), then go through it again and again.

Many of you may in these groups, or have been, and its painful to be here.

There is ANOTHER way based on scientific research though, and this is my mission to bring the truth to you.

We talk about those ways every day on here, so feel free to look back through all of the posts over the last 4 years or so.

The feedback is getting greater and greater, so feel free to ask me any question at fitness@kerimckibbin.co.uk.

The greatest satisfaction is putting individals on the right track after getting let down so much in the past by misinformation.

Monday 10th October

Saturated fat is always the bad boy when it comes to having a bad rap in the press, and with good reason. If too much of that stuff blocks your arteries, you can have a heart attack anytime unfortunately, and is always a danger when consumed at regular intervals.

The other bad twin of the food family is refined sugar and its existence in a lot of foods, this is why i always try to encourage you to eat well! If you consume a lot of products packaged up too much, you can bet your life it has regined sugar in it.

Most cereal boxes are loaded with refined sugar, this is a fact and far from being your best start to the day, it can end up your most sugary start to the day and really trip up your day before its even started. Fruit and fibre for instance is loaded with refined sugar when examined in tests, but tries to mention “your healthiest start to the day” all over the box. Porridge is always a better choice, giving you an excellent slow release of energy and avoiding the temptations of yet more sugar!!!

Anyone who has had to do a diabetes test and carried that thing around when you prick your finger and continually test your blood sugar levels after food, will definitely know what im talking about!!!! Refined sugar is in a lot of foods, too numerous to mention here and the usual suspects contain the most, white bread, biscuits of all kinds, sweets and most man made food, if not all!!! That test is very valuable and any chance you get to take it, the eye opener you get will be extremely revealing and educational for sure!!!

There are refined sugars in fruit of course, and this is why even fruit should be eaten in moderation.

This is also why i always recommend you dillute your organge juice, instead of having a big glass, this brings your refined sugars down substantially while still containing the benefits of the juice.

So its saturated fat and REFINED SUGARS, they are the real bad boys of your food intake, guaranteed to stop fat loss in its tracks and deprive you of any sustained energy!

Monday 18th July

Good news on a Monday always settles you on a steady course for the rest of this week. Start with effort and you get a whole lot of confidence straight away and your results are likely to be very good indeed.

What helps me sometimes is going through the lists of food I give out to new clients, so they are always worth a visit in the diet section. The lists on breakfast ideas, lunch and evening choices and snack ideas reinforce my thinking on what I should be shopping for on a weekly basis.

I know if I REALLY want to be performing and feeling my best, then these foods HAVE to be a big part of my week.

I talked about the stress of moving home last week, but these foods have helped me an awful lot when it comes to re-energising me and getting me fired up to get through my working week.

“You are what you eat” has never been more true.

If you want to look like something really soft and spongy, then please go ahead and eat the ready meals, the cakes and biscuits, the chips, the greasy options in most café’s, these are the foods that will make you feel like you have NO energy and no enthusiasm for life!

If you are reading this, then it shouldn’t be a wild guess that you are looking for excellent results when it comes to looking amazing and feeling fantastic.

This is why I am banging on about diet today, because you can train ALL YOU WANT, but you can NEVER make up for a poor diet and deep down you know there are no short cuts to long term success with your health and fitness.

If you do click on the diet section on the right hand side today, you will refresh your mind and sometimes open your mind again to the extreme good value of changing your diet for the better.

Monday is a day to rebalance your body and put it on sustainable and energetic path for the week. It all starts with good nutrition, no excuses and lets get it right starting today!

February 9th 2011

Talking about improving your training efforts, here are some easy ways to achieve exactly that.

A very good start would be to keep a training record of what you do. For example, if you go for a run on monday for 20 minutes on a hilly course, write it down and try and state how you feel too, was it easy, hard, did you have to walk most of it, did you do more than planned for example?

Then the next week you can go into the same run fully aware of what it would take to improve on that. If the previous week you managed 20 consecutive minutes but had to then stop, the a run of even 21 minutes would be seen as an improvement, so set that as your goal if time exercising is your goal. A better goal would be run a little bit further, so even if that takes the same 20 minutes, its a very real improvement. Going more distance in the same amount of time is a major achievement and is much more meaningful in my book.

If your training diary says that that you only trained twice last week but planned 3 times, then work out why you didnt do it. Did you expect to do it in the evening around 5pm, but something kept coming up? The best solution for me would be to switch the workouts to first thing in the morning, you’re less likely to have so many things going on before work or even before breakfast.

Working out in the morning takes the excuses out of your life, and can set you up to have a great day. It works for many people i know and now that they have got into early morning training, they would never go back to evening training. Plus you tend to burn body fat quicker before breakfast so it can work on many levels.

The key to improving your training is your training diary, write your progress down and you will feel much more motivated to improve, putting good pressure on yourself is a great way to keep you moving forward, instead of being stuck in a rut!!!
