April 27th Catch up

Two bank holidays in a row so we are right in the middle of it right now!!

Im was guilty myself of waking up very tired today, and the weekend has made me feel very sluggish, although I got through two good runs early on Sunday and Monday.

The great news now though is that I have had a massive morning of exercise and somehow my body feels very energetic once again!

Human beings like routine and depending on what yours is, the way you feel today will definitely be dependent on that routine.

How many people do you know who come back from holiday full of life first day into the exercise programme? The fact is that everyone struggles to get back into things after a short period of inactivity, so our routines become more and more important depending on what type of lifestyle we want to lead.

If you want to be sloth like in your lifestyle, expect to put on weight and feel very low in energy most of the time. Expect this because if you consume foods low in nutrients and foods high in saturated fat and high in sugars, this is the results you WILL get every time.

As a society, hopefully we are moving further and further away from this example and healthy food is becoming more and more fashionable at last!

People are becoming much more aware of the importance of fresh  fruit and vegetables, that they need to be consuming more fish and white meats, and they shouldn’t overdo their carbohydrate portions (size of your fist in terms of portion size and not the whole plate if possible!).

So to get your life back on track this week right in between the bank holidays, there’s only one way to go in terms of looking and feeling your best, a life high in energy means you are going to get a lot more done, and you will achieve far more.

Give yourself a fighting chance and life the lifestyle, the one big thing you can do today is consume much more water, instead of teas and coffees all day, instantly you will feel A LOT better and you will actually feel like DOING something.

Have a great start to the week!

April 27th

You may I have noticed I have been offline, but this has been down to my BT home hub for my broadband not working and waiting for its replacement!! Its finally here now and its times like these you wonder what you did before you had a 24/7 internet connection!!

Its quite funny how most people reported the sluggishness of the bank holiday yesterday and were struggling to get going.

I am really thankful that yesterday was a very tough physical day for me, so I have well and truly got the cobwebs out the way and I feel 100% more refreshed, PURELY down to great workouts, eating very well and drinking lots of water, which is always underrated!!!

The minute you don’t think that living this lifestyle is not important is the day your health will go downhill. Anyone who has been in great shape or at least their best version of being in great shape, it is impossible to forget how fantastic this feels and the desire to get back there must be huge in everyone who has perhaps let it slide over the years.

With modern train methods, it is entirely possible to get in great shape again, safely and relatively quickly is done with a well thought out plan, and realising that a good natural nutritious eating plan will make as much difference as the training will.

This always needs to be a 50/50 effort with the training and eating, anything less and you will fall short, its Wednesday 27th april and we are nearly in may, if its not time to do it now, then I don’t know what is, so let’s get out of bed and get some work done and finally get into the shape you really want!!!

April 21st 2011

How many of you now can’t eat so much chocolate or drink so much alcohol if you have already done well with your fitness plan and got to where you want to be?

This is what usually happens when you change your diet for the long term, and make exercise a very normal part of your life.

Other comments I get are that the once fantastic tasting sugary foods are now making you sick, because all that sugar is now becoming a sugar overload, and your body responds in a not very good way, in fact all that extra sugar as a one off will most likely make you feel sick and very low in energy usually an hour after consuming it.

If excess refined sugary foods have become a part of daily life for you, then you are at high risk of developing diabetes at some stage, and just ask anyone who now has diabetes what an uncomfortable existence that is!

Foods were meant to be sampled in their natural state, so whenever you can do this will be to your significant advantage.

We are now coming up to easter bank holiday, which means from now until Monday offers a significant window of making a pig of themselves for most people. Some people actually will go out and consume as much sugar and refined as possible, and then bemoan next Tuesday on how lethargic they are feeling, and how they have to get that weight off!!

Then you have two bank holidays next week so what do  most people do? They write off the next week again and overdo AGAIN!!!

This is of course a perfect example of a vicious circle, and these can be very hard to recover from. The monumental effort to get going again can seem exactly that….MONUMENTAL!!! These types of efforts can’t happen all the time, so the long and steady route is the way to go….FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! I MEAN!!!

Tried and tested is the way to go and make your life far more stable in health and fitness terms!!!!

April 20th 2011

The outstanding weather we are having should make you get outside this week, there cannot be any reason not to.

An American friend came over the weekend and couldn’t believe how much Llanelli and burry port had changed and the value now of having the millennium coastal on our doorstep.

The transition from a heavy industrial town to an area of outstanding natural beauty has been nothing short of inspirational and is begging you to get out there and use it every day, especially with the Mediterranean like weather out there the last few days!

Its never too late in the year to exercise as we are only barely a third of the year gone, so theres plenty more to achieve this year if you really get your head down.

A big achievement for most of you will be committing to exercising 3 times a week and making healthy eating a regular part of your daily life. This is a major move in enabling you much more likely to live longer, and a much higher quality of life!

Most people I know who are healthier and live the right lifestyle are usually much more optimistic in life, they approach the challenges in life in a much more positive way and are generally far more pleasant to be around as they don’t seem to suffer from the mood swings that most people with a poor diet suffer from.

Show me a person who drinks every day and you have someone who is highly irritable, and someone who usually takes their moods out on those closest to them.

Show me someone who smokes, eats chocolate and crisps most of the time and you mostly see someone who performs with very low energy levels, has skin issues at times, and internally is struggling to keep good health levels up.

I don’t have to tell you ANY of this, you know it yourselves!! You read it in the paper every day with endless studies done by doctors and scientists, the facts are there so you don’t have to take my word for it!!!

We are on a great run weather wise, the big question has to be “are you going to take advantage of it?”!!!!!

Blueberries, strawberries, cashews, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazils, kiwi fruit, carrots, broccoli, apples, oranges are all great examples on how to deal with the colds, flu and sorts of illnesses sweeping the country at the moment.

All of these foods offer remarkable support for your immune system in all sorts of ways.

I would much rather take these foods in every day, than lower my immune system and accept the seemingly inevitable of colds flu etc and in general feeling run down, it doesn’t have to be that way if you eat a lot of fresh natural foods and exercise well throughout the week.

This is always a powerful combination is keeping your general feeling of wellbeing at its highest level.

Contrast that with individuals who consume alcohol most days, eat ready meals or low quality food, and eat little or no fruit and vegetables.

If you have been on both sides of those examples, I don’t need to tell you then how good it feels to be eating well every day and how energy giving it is to have good quality exercise in your life. These are facts, and everyone who lives this kind of healthy lifestyle will testify them to be true!!!

When you are exercising hard, you also need these foods to replace nutrients lost during exercise. Good quality foods are needed even more when engaged in tough physical efforts because you want your body to repair itself in a good way, and not feed it junk because as you break your body down by exercise, you want it built up with high quality nutrients and not low grade chemical junk found in low quality meals such as ready meals and all of their cheap copy cat products on the  market!

Its all fine to concentrate on looking lean and worry about the slightest weight gain but surely its far more important to look and feel good ON THE INSIDE?!!!

If you look after your insides and feed it with quality fresh and natural food, your body will look after you a thousand times more!!!

Give it a go!!!
