Monday, 12th March

Urgency has to be a big part of your programme or you will never get the fast results you demand!!!

I have got used to that world of urgency myself and i live it every day.

I am currently selling my house and at the final stage, so the slowness, don’t phone you back for days and dont care attitude that is shown by solicitors is always an alien situation to me, and to my mind totally unacceptable! This is exactly the wrong way to survive in business and i’m proud to say that my attitude is the exact opposite to theirs!

So if an individual comes to me and wants fast results and they want them yesterday, then i know i had better be on the top of my game and ready to work hard  right now, or the job is not going to get done.

You should have exactly the same attitude to your workouts, your food and sleep.

Your workouts should never be missed unless you are ill full stop. They should be done with intensity and urgency, you’re the one who wanted the results after all, so there’s no time to mess around and compromise in any way! Use your aggression on your workouts, and you will experience a fantastic inner calmness later!

Your food should be urgently taken care of too! There’s no excuse to have that white bread in the house, its going to be toxic for your body and a nightmare that will pile the weight on.

What about those refined sugars, are there biscuits, crisps and pastries in the house, instead of fruit, nuts, and other nutritious snacks?!!!

Is there plenty of alcohol in the house? If there is, then that usually means you’re going to drink it!!!

Are you sleeping properly or are you  in bed at 1am every night? Your answer to this question will dicate how good shape you eventuallly get in!!!

Don’t accept mediocrity because you really do not have to. You’re here to get results and to get what you want quickly.

Take action early and often and you will get what you want!!!

Tuesday, 6th March

How’s your food intake going? Good or bad? Stuck in a rut? Okay, here’s some ideas and can work espeically well for families for breakfast and mid-morning, we all need a great start before lunch!

  • Breakfast

–     We all  have problems eating breakfast, especially eating good stuff. Here’s some ideas.

  • You can throw some sultanas, berries or some banana over your cereal, how about mixing 2 or 3 fruit juices up together as a drink or making your own smoothie by throwing in some fruit with some milk in a blender, you can make your own muesli more fun by putting in some apricots, dates, figs, chopped orange and apples.
  • How about chopping up a ripe banana on some toast instead of a big spoon of butter or marge?
  • Eggs are great for protein and can taste great on toast. These ideas work well especially when you’re trying  to get more fruit in your diet without really noticing.

–     mid-morning

–     Remember this is a way of life and not a diet! No starving yourself please?

  •  Smaller apples with more flavour work well as well as tangerines which can be easier to peel than oranges.
  • Kiwis taste great as well as cherries, blueberries and strawberries.
  • Nuts like brazils, cashews and almonds are beautiful as a handful and give you a lot of good fats for a change!

Hope this all sounds a lot better than either being too restrictive, or on the other side being too indulgent which means foods usually dripping in saturated fat, which you know is going to be bad news for our hearts and arteries, which inevitably leads to heart attacks, strokes etc if done over a longer period of time.

Some people always go on about how much it costs for fresh food, but try comparing that with alcohol in pubs, cigarettes and sweets and its a pittance!!!

If you manage to get some of these great foods into your body daily, you will soon feel amazing and look around a thousand times better in all ways!

More tomorrow!!!

Friday, 6th January

Hope you have made a great start to the new year, and things are working out in a very positive way for you!

If things are positive for you, then you have actually taken action and you are a DOER instead of a talker and you are on your way. You have probably realised that the DOING comes before you feel better.

When you do something, you get rid of your fear and you build a good amount of self-confidence, this is the power of it all.

So if its the fact that you are on your way and you have trained well this week, you will soon enjoy this experience and you have overcome all of your initial fears. This feels so good usually that you want to challenge yourself again and move on to the next level.

Then the fear starts all over again, and you have doubts in your mind again! This is a good sign!

You have to realise though that this fear of a new challenge is experienced by EVERYONE ELSE TOO!!!! All those people you may have admired from afar and achieved a lot in their lives were actually scared to death themselves at some stage, plucking up the courage to actually “go for it” and reach their seemingly lofty goals!

Instead of seeing fear as a massive obstacle and retreating at a rate of knots, you should see it as a sign inviting you to improve and change your life for the better!

Instead of settling for what you have now, its going to be far more rewarding for you to be fitter and healthier for the rest of your life, in terms of inner satisfaction and quality of life to name just two massive benefits!

You may ask why you would want to put yourself through the uncomfortable nature of trying to change your life, but that temporary feeling is going to be hundred times better than sticking with a lifetime of being overweight, unfit and unhealthy, and all the negatives that situation brings.

Its time to make the change to grab the chance with both hands!

Friday, 16th December

Using anger and stress as a viable workout tool can make a hopeless situation turn into your best performing workouts!

How many of us have hit a workout in no mood to train, only feeling stress and anger at whatever situation presented itself that particular day?

Those of you who decided to carry on with your workout will usually feel ten times better at the end of the workout. All that anger and negative feelings can usually be absorbed into the workout, and sometimes your best performances are achieved.

I have seen people in gyms who work shifts, and after some night shifts have approached the gym with little or no sleep, and really hit the workout hard, and you can visibly see the anger subsiding after a few tough sets of high intensity weight training. They always leave the gym a different person, and they use the workout as the ultimate de-stresser!!!

I sometimes dont wake up in the best of moods after a night of little sleep with the kids,  but after my first run, i always feel 200% better, and its usually the same with the person i am running with.

If you want to categorise stress into different sections, think positive and negative.

Negative stress would be work pressures, money worries, relationship problems, family problems, job security, personality clashes, etc etc.

Positive ways to deal with it would be exercising, eating well, avoiding alcohol, avoiding negative people, sleeping better and more regular etc etc.

If you follow these rules, then the anger and negativity is likely to subside. We all have these feelings, lets not pretend otherwise, but if some sort of exercise is a daily part of our lives, we have the ultimate natural medicine for it!!!

Have a great weekend, the weather is clear and snow free so lets get out there in the fresh air and enjoy the benefits!!

Friday, 9th december

Before we go over more training methods, i would like to comment on all the feedback i had to last friday’s post of having a christmas party, enjoying the whole process but suffering terribly the next day from drinking too much alcohol!!!

Most people who have been through the process over the last week or so tell me it goes like this!

You go out on the party, drink far more than normal, have a great time, and then reality starts biting hard the very next morning!!!!

If you wake up early like me, you wake up with a vile headache and a feeling of sickness.

You need a walk to clear your head, but because of the amount of alcohol, it doesnt make the usual big difference!!!

Then you come back home and try and eat food, drink water and a coffee. Somehow this doesnt cut it this time!!!

Then you have lunch which helps a bit, and then with every meal the feeling gets a little better, but you cant wait to hit the sack the following night!!!! And early too!!

Then the next day, you expect good performance but even the next day after that you feel lousy, and getting your body to feel good is a conundrum of the highest complexity!!!

Then the next few days, you are so glad to get back to eating well, and getting your body used to exercise again, but you will notice that your body doesnt respond quite as prompty and as freely as usual!!! These feelings can go on all week long!!!

Most if not all of the feedback i have had is like this! This means that alcohol in excess SEVERELY AFFECTS PERFORMANCE and wrecks progress, and if you’re looking to keep on improving, or even FEEL normal, then heavy drinking over christmas has to be the LAST thing on your mind.

I’m glad i learned my lesson last week and dont intend repeating it any time soon!!!
