The efforts you may be now making with your diet ought not to be wasted, and you need to be adopting some simple strategies to make the most out of your new exercise and dietary habits.

The most important difference you can make right now is to give alcohol up for a while. The improvements your liver will see in the next month will be huge if you avoid drinking for the next four weeks and it’s a great month to do it, with not a lot going on.

Hopefully, after the four weeks, you will be feeling so good that you won’t want to go back to a lifestyle of excess alcohol and the dangers that come with it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with having a drink but moderation is the key. We all overdid as kids and some of us are learning now that perhaps its not such a great idea anymore to try and drink like an 18 year old into our old age!!!

Another huge disadvantage of alcohol consumption is the hunger it suddenly gives you. You start craving things you never thought possible, and those cravings are usually high fat and high sugar items, the very foods and drinks that are guaranteed to put a lot more weight on.

The statement that is perhaps factually correct more than any other is that ALCOHOL MAKES YOU FAT FULL STOP!! A bit harsh for some to take perhaps, but very true in my experience nonetheless!!

If you give up alcohol for a month, you will notice the bloated feelings going almost straight away. Any problems you have with blood pressure will subside a bit and substantially over the longer term, any overeating problems will be helped no end, any irritable behaviour you may have developed will subside too hopefully.

There are only positives to giving up alcohol this month and your enthusiasm for exercise can literally go through the roof!!

What are you waiting for!!

Putting off your health and weight problems is the biggest mistake you can ever make. Throwing in the towel right now for christmas is one of my pet hates, and fortunately i help a lot of people who are really commited to working out right up until christmas, through christmas and straight after christmas. This is a great strategy because you really want to be flying into 2011 in the best possible shape.

So assuming you’re commited to being the best you can be, and maybe you’re having a few problems with getting into the kind of shape you want to be, maybe 10-15 pounds short of your best weight?

The first thing to do is be honest with yourself and tell yourself the truth. What would you give to lose that extra weight and everyone tell you how great you look? Could you put up with eating food a lot plainer without the additives?

Assuming you have the odd treat anyway, these are the things i would get rid of without hesitation!

These are the things i have got rid of when i’ve raided fridges and cupboards in a lot of houses. Get a black bag and get rid of the following right now, no messing around so lets make it happen please!

Ketchup-when i eat it, it makes me wheeze and brings my asthma back and i hear this a lot from other people, this has no place in your cupboard if you want to be in great shape full stop and no but’s!!!

Salt-the best way to get your blood pressure up! Which is really bad of course and very bad for making your body hold water, another pet hate of many of you, looking and feeling bloated is not the most attractive look in the world!!!

Mayonnaise-full fat or half fat or very low fat, this stuff is rubbish and will do absolutely nothing to help you get into shape, in fact it will make things extremely hard!!! Whatever the marketer’s tell you, its very harmful for the body!

Salad cream-same as mayo, a nightmare for getting into shape, if you want to be at your best, then why are you buying this rubbish!!!!

Flora margarine or any margarine-DESPITE what they say again, its not good for you, in fact butter is much better. Another example i was told of today, if you put butter in the garden all day, the animals will eat it, you put margarine out all day and the animals won’t go near it!! True story so be careful on what you put into your body!! Flora won’t get you healthy, honestly!!

White bread-full of bleaching agents and shocking ingredients, this stuff should be banned from your house full stop, its making your get in shape plans go up in smoke, get it out and get it out now please!

These are examples of things that will destroy all your great training efforts, get them out of your life and start seeing amazing results with your health, your body and the way you’re going to feel!!!

As debbie has just posted, you shouldn’t take for granted good health, and when you’re ill, you obviously have a new appreciation for being fit and healthy. Thanks for posting that debs!

I also hear stories about people who drink every night down the pub, and they suddenly get into a healthy lifestyle of exercising and eating properly. Within a month, the drinking down the pub soon disappears and they soon appreciate what it feels like to have much better health. The pub in the week and good workouts definitely don’t work and anyone who has ever tried will tell you that!

If you went to the supermarket right now and filled your shopping trolley up with doughnuts, white bread, cans of lager, bottles of wine, biscuits, multi-pack bags of crisps, chocolate bars etc etc and then tried to exercise every day, then something would have to give!!! All of these foods are what we call “empty calories” meaning they don’t have much to offer us nutritionally, other than putting more body fat ON us, which is the opposite of what we are trying to do!!!

Add on to the fact that we will get lousy workouts from this fuel (the fatty supermarket trolley) and we will be on a one way course to an expanding waistline and no energy in our lives.

Debbie will take some time to return to her former levels, but she will get there as long as she takes her tried and tested approach of solid workouts inside 3 times a week and any other activity she decides to undertake. She also knows that good food, full of essential nutrients are just as important toget her back to normal, or her progress will be bumpy at best.

Say point A is being ill and feeling terrible, and point B is feeling great and energetic, debbie has been bad for 5 weeks so far and is on her way back. It should take 5-10 weeks to get back to normal based on scientific studies. The exact time it takes will depend on how good she is in her lifestyle and daily habits with food. It will be interesting to see how she gets on so come on debs, keep us updated on your progress!!!

If you remember your best ever week of training, you will remember you will have probably been very tired at the end of the week from the huge effort you would have put in. You will have also noticed that your body will have felt a whole lot tighter at the end of the week. This will have brought you a huge amount of satisfaction because you would have signifcantly improved yourself.

I don’t know about you but i find the week AFTER very tough sometimes. Your best ever week is unlikely to be followed by another mind-blowing week of training straight away, so this is why a proper programme is important to follow. Getting into shape and staying in shape is very much a matter of following routine and progressively OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. You won’t improve every week in a big way, but even tiny improvements will matter big time in the end as long as your nutritional needs are being met.

So if you look at a 10 week period, your first week may have been unbelievably good, the next may have been tough to get through, the next after that i guarantee will have been easier, and if you manage to keep these good weeks up for 10 weeks, you WILL SIGNIFICANTLY trasnform your body. I repeat, you will change your body in a way you thought not possible!!!

Let’s talk this through again, you need to be HUGELY CONSISTENT if you want this amazing progress and it is totally possible!! You don’t have to have these super person genetics, you don’t have to have any money, you don’t have to “know the right people”, there are no catches in this and im totally confident that anyone can pull this one off.

So when cyril posts regularly how well he is doing, or even if he is having a down week, he is still interested in improving himself and usually VERY consistent. This is such a more powerful secret to success than any fat loss pill, faddy diet, faddy piece of exercise equipment etc. Showing up as i keep saying is such a strong way to make sure you are improving all the time, and in my mind the most powerful get in shape tool you could ever use.

Being consistent means being successful full stop!!!

Wednesday, 15th November

Use this opportunity to work even harder inside on your strength and resistance work. Some people buy a treadmill for indoors, what a waste of money when you get some cracking workouts inside.

If I want to keep it basic for myself and for everyone I train. I always think of working the whole body in one go to maximise the amount of energy and fat my body uses in the workout. If I wanted the easy option, I would isolate different body parts but I’ve discovered that’s the easy way out on so many different levels.

Right now, I’m all about discovering and proving which workout works best and it turns out those workouts tend to be like eating your greens as a kid. Those exercises that are best for you tend not be the easiest or even the ones you enjoy the most. They may be harder right now because they are very challenging and it may take your body getting to another level before you can do them without too much problem.

Anything that periodically takes you out of your comfort zone and drags you sometimes kicking and screaming to the next level is hugely positive for you. Don’t see it as a hardship though, see it as growth and an exciting time in your life.

If you’re one of these people who thinks your body declines after the age of 30, then im here right now to tell you that you’re wrong.

With a well-structured training and eating plan, you can literally improve each and every year, seriously I’ve seen that happen to everyone who takes their health seriously and takes action every week to look after their body.

The natural evolution for people who have such a great attitude is that so many good things happen when you attain very good health. Some people treat high energy levels, low levels of body fat and good levels of strength as NORMAL now. Most people however haven’t got that luxury so that’s why I’m urging your right now to take action and make health a huge priority in your life once again!!

38 days to Christmas so an excellent time to make it happen in a hurry starting today!!!
