JK Rowling never believed her Harry Potter books would sell even when they did, Jodie Foster and Meryl Streep never believed they deserved an Oscar even when their name was announced, Geraint Thomas never believed he deserved to win the Tour De France even when he did, I didn’t feel as if I deserved to have a business even when it had been many years, and in fact at least 70% of us never believe we deserve any success and definitely not sustained success.

It is called “imposter syndrome” and it stops many of us giving the sustained and relentless effort to go great things in anything we really want. We believe success and happiness of any kind is for “other people”.

We see others giving the image of being and acting successful, but we don’t believe we REALLY can do it. The well known people mentioned all had enormous self-doubt and people dismissing their efforts, but somehow they kept their desire and sense of purpose high, and relentlessly worked hard, despite endless knockdowns, failures, and being told to quit literally all the time they had no chance.

My car is now 13 years old and I don’t care, but I know if I invest that potential car payment into our gym, and serve and care for everyone that comes in, our gym will be incredible over time and caring and serving costs NOTHING. My definition of success is how many people we can help do amazing things and change their lives.

I don’t want to be a prisoner to a big loan and I want to sleep at night.

Success is not renting a new car every year, it’s not living in a flashy house and going on holidays so you can show off on social media and getting yourself into deep debt in the process, its about YOU being happy, you chasing down the the things that you’ve always wanted that are going to fulfil you, and make you so proud of your efforts.

Most people fail and keep failing at things, the vital part is to get up after every failure and having ANOTHER go, maybe refining your approach and see if that works. Realise though that you TRULY DESERVE success long term for your relentless efforts whatever YOUR version of success is.

Not believing you deserve happiness and success is common, and to break the mould you have to do something different you truly believe in and be true to yourself. You are unique, nobody can do it like you, you have your very own set of qualities and talents, and not giving a damn when anyone else tries to put you off is going to be vital in you keeping going, and being relentless in chasing down what you want.

STICK with your sense of purpose, cherish and never ever lose sight of your big dreams of doing something incredible with your life, and remember YOU TOTALLY deserve it.
