Day 20

So here we are already, nearly at the end of week 3 and most of you have made substantial progress to say the least, a big congratulations to you all on that. Had an email from simon in chicago yesterday, he las lost 11 pounds already and he thinks another 10 pounds will make him very close to his goal weight, which i was very pleased about.

Sorry to hear cyril and jean are not feeling well, this is sad as they are usually highly active and very valuable tothis blog!

So today’s post, i would like to tell you what happens if i ever get struck down by something like that, and thankfully it doesn’t happen to often!!! One day off work in 12 years!

Anyway, here’s what i do. I buy a whole lemon, some manuka honey, and some warm water, and sometimes i even eat the skin of the lemon, and i know most of you wouldn’t do that as its so bitter, but it works for me!

Then as a defence for all of this coming in the first place, i tend to make sure my immune system is very strong to begin with.

I always make sure i have nuts in the house, brazils, walnuts, cashews, almonds which are great for the immune system.

I always make sure i have plenty of fruit in the house, blueberries, strawberries, pears, apples, bananas, oranges etc, which again, are fantastic for our immune systems.

I consume all of these daily and never miss, as well as consuming as much veg as possible, from different sources.

To further boost my immune system, i get to bed early and try to get good quality sleep, even with a new baby in the house, its that vital to me!

To boost my immune system further, i don’t smoke of course, or eat much rubbish at all, and i never drink in the week at all, never!

Another good immune system trick is to always have at least one day off a week off from training, exercise is a very positive thing for your immune system, but if you overdo it, it can overload it and it breaks down, and then you get sick.

I try to keep things simple as you all know, so i don’t rely on medical drugs, and paracetemol etc if i possibly can, and try to rely on nature’s way ofย  looking after ourselves.

Give it a go, it’s a positive way for you all and you know deep down, it’s going to have a positive effect.

Have a great saturday, enjoy the game later, and get out and plan something active for tomorrow, i know it makes you all feel great after a leisurely saturday!

Keri

  1. Hi Ke, already doin the honey and lemon thing, not the honey u mentioned tho, will try that. As for the nuts, I could never buy all those nuts and not eat them all, hence, I dont buy nuts. The fruit is a given. Think Louisa gave me her cold, feeling weak nose streaming, throat sore, nose bleeds, all the usual, have weighed this morning, know it should be 2mo, but there is no change, I have gone over the weeks eating and have been stricter this week than last week, except for the Lemsip. Am tempted but wont let go of the reins, hope it will kick in next week, it has to sometime, just a disappointment. Enjoy the match. Cyril and Debs, hope the game is good and we get the result we want, have a great weekend. Jeanx

  2. It is a great day, am tempted to go for a cycle, but my hubby just went off on one when I told him. “You deserve all you get, you bring it on yourself, do what you like, you do anyway” so dont think I will be goin, what a drama queen. Sorry Wend, how are you doin? when are you starting your diet, if you havent already. Have a great weekend. Love Jeanxxxxxxx

  3. Back at last. Been a busy week. Hope your all feeling better. Not doing as much training as you all so your making me feel really guilty. Hols week after next though so will have more time. Good news is Keri I have lost 7 lbs since joining. So thanks very much!! Going to have to make a bigger effort now though to shift the rest. I’m going to have a read of your regular blogs now so as to stop me having too many wines tonight. Hope it isn’t to drown my sorrows Debbie.
Won’t prob get to write anything till next weekend. So have a good week all and hope the colds go soon. X

  4. SSJ
great to see you again and even better to see your efforts have been worthwhile!
I sense that if you became fully commited, your results would be truly amazing. Your training efforts need to be upped it seems, and with your busy life, try and make them in shorter time efforts, but with a big intensity, it can work out very well for you if you give it a chance.
    Well done so far too!

  5. jean
keep reminding yourself how well you have done, let your cold clear and keep your very positive views coming, you will be successful and are, keep being consistent and you have no worries!

  8. Cyril, you have made me laugh out loud again! The thought of you going to the club with a bag full of nuts!! GOOD ON YOU!! You deserve your success.
Whatever I did differently this week has worked, I have lost 3 pounds. Believe me, as Keri would probably remember, for me that is an acheivement. My body retains fat like a flipping camel!
Going to look at my notes for the week and do it all the same next week.

SSJ………..Well done!! Half a stone off!! Didn’t drink the Strongbow after all. It would have taken more than one can to cloud THAT result!

Jean, only you know how you feel. Listen to your body and go with it. Sure the next week will be a good one for you. xxx

  9. Thanx for your support you lot, feeling better today, head cold clearing, except chest is tight now. Good on you Debs, 3lbs that is awesome, keep it up, yeah I had a chuckle at Cyril taking his own NUTS to the club, but whatever you have to do mate, I take my own blackcurrant, its sugar free. Was persuaded to go see the match yesterday, totally was not worth it, Ireland/Italy match was storming, Wales/England, well what can I say, best to say nothing, the text came thick and fast from our so called MATES up in England, must admit, JONNY WILKO was brilliant, and I did find myself cheering for him, needless to say I got some odd looks but was’nt ejected from the pub, LUCKY ME. Ended up having 1,800 cals yesterday, so fed up, but kept under 2,000. Only 500 of that was lager, the rest was clean food except for 4 ice cream cornets, home made, I bought for my granddaughter. Except for yesterday which was still under 2,000, I had what I thought was a storming week, cut back from the week before, cant cut back anymore, well I could, 1,000 a day, but I dont want to, it is hard enough already, so I will plod on and have 1,200 and see what happens. Disappointed now 2 weeks in a row, it happens. Wont be posting after 2mo, goin away for a few days, cant take my bike, as the new car has no rack, unless we take the old car, that one does. Anyway will take my trainers, should be ok. Best wishes Jean

  10. make it happen cyril, now is the critical time for you, when you discover how strong you can really be, dont doubt yourself!
