We all go through it, and it’s confession time for me too! I have taken a liking for Thai takeaways, but i do try to keep it good, i have a chicken stir fry with lots of vegetables, i drain any sauce left over and i have some coconut rice with it, this is my treat for the week. I have noticed though the other things on the menu, and started a month ago getting TWO main courses, such as a beef dish, again with lots of vegetables, but as i have a mega-appetite, the idea of chomping through two thai main courses wasn’t that bad, as it’s not really like doing two indians, or two chineses!
However, as an asthma sufferer since a child, when i started doing the two main courses, i started to wheeze afterwards, and didn’t really enjoy the bloated after effects, but guess what? Now i was used to the two courses, i tried another two courses the week after, and the week after that, and so on…………….until tonight!
I went back to normal and thought i wasn’t really leading a good example here, so did one main course again, and funnily enough, it is enough and i don’t feel bloated, and i’ve saved some money!!
The bottom line is here that we all get carried away with takeaways, saying we will “try” different things, but end up eating the whole lot! The extra main course can make a big calorie difference, plus get our stomach’s used to bigger helpings, all in the name of helping ourselves.
Supermarket time tomorrow, and how many of us have said that pizza looks nice, and have no intention of eating it, but come saturday night, you end up sharing it and really enjoying it, until you feel the horrible bloated effects afterwards!!
Okay, that can be Saturday’s treat amongst others, and what about sunday, sometimes we say “i’m going to eat well starting monday again”! This is an excuse to gorge ourselves on sunday lunch with the odd less than healthy breakfast preceeding it!! And i’m not going to accuse anyone here of a sunday night takeaway to finish the weekend off!!
We are talking 3 bad nights here, and this means we need a mega good week to get rid of all the rubbish of the weekend, plus we haven’t even mentioned alcohol yet!!!
Here’s something to think about, have one glass of wine and it takes 20 minutes of moderate exercise to work it off, or 10 minutes of intense exercise, work out if it’s worth it?!
Let me know if you have a mega-calorie weekend or will it be something more moderate, yet still enjoyable?!!
Keri

Hi Ke, reading the above, do u remember u Andrew and the boys nights at Pizza Hut, who can eat the most, think you got up to 24 slices. Bet u could’nt do that now, or even want to.
Did the run this morning, only had to use my inhaler twice. Did’nt have to wear oil skins either. My PEDOMETER said I did 1,347 steps, thats believable but, it said that I burned, WAIT FOR IT, BIG GASP 40 calories, 40 calories!!!!!!!!!! I can tell you I burned more than that with the heavy breathing alone, so I wont take that again. Cos if all the effort was 4 40 calories, it just wasnt worth it. I was running like a “LITTLE BUDHA”
Ke, I have started drinking Green Tea and I think it kept me awake last night, had bout 4 hours sleep, my question is do I treat it like coffee, does it have the same effect or is it just me. Read an article where this woman reffered to it as Rocket Fuel, she was drinking it by the bucket, 4 to 5 bags in one cup the weight fell off her, although she did become ANOREXIC. Anyway I am please that I did a run this morning and I will do another one 2mo. It certainly woke me up
Sorry, in answer 2 ur question, my weekend will b moderate. Not even goin down that road, weekend is the same as the week for me with the exception of 4 bottles of Bud. Havent got baby 2mo so I can have a drink, but only 4 mind. My eating has been good 2day, havent had time to think about food, took Jasmine home at 7pm, couldnt catch her to dress her. Told her she was goin home and she took off all her clothes and ran. enjoy ur weekend. And thanx 4 ur encouragement, its appreciated.
Jean
i do remember those mega eating days and shows that anyone can change, whatever your eating capacity was! All it needs is a period of adjustment.
Green tea can help in fat burning, but i would only drink it in the morning, and up to 3pm, otherwise you will suffer from lack of sleep definitely, and wouldn’t drink it in the bucketload, 3-4 cups a day would be max in my view.
Great attitude you are showing and went for a rare saturday run (usually my day off) today already with the dogs and feel great now as i write this!
Pedometers often don’t work properly. I much prefer working your effort out in terms of marking yourself out of ten, see my previous posts under workouts about a 10 days or so back. Aim for 8 out 10 effort (1 is doing nothing, 10 is hammering yourself) and you should be bang on!
Good luck,
Keri
Hi Keri,
Had a night out Saturday, planned to have a few drinks, and ended up drinking vodka and diet coke instead of the usual Strongbow. Had a jacket with my steak while everyone else had chips.
Felt in control, it’s a good feeling!
Back to it on Sunday, no alcohol, regular meals and lots of veg.
I have been here before and because I let it slip I had forgotten how good it feels to feel good!!
I have tried to cut out sugar in tea and coffee, and failed. Been trying for years. Would it be better
health wise to just take half a teaspoon of sugar or use sweeteners?
Cheers,
Debs
Thats a great effort debs, and you have got right into already so well done on that.
I would do the half spoon of sugar as there have been numerous potential cases of law suits in the states against some ingredients in sweeteners. Aspartame is highly controversial and there are moves to get it banned. I would also try honey instead of the sugar which would be even better and more natural.
Your taste buds can take just 12 weeks to totally change by the way!
“Your taste buds can take just 12 weeks to totally change by the way” lol, lol, lol.tried for the 1st time this morning the Natural yogurt with some nuts strawberries and a bit of honey. My gawd that’s an acquired taste alright,lol…..
You have come so far already cyril, and to make the next step up, you need to change your taste buds some more, and although this may seem like a major feat at the moment, it will soon become second nature trust me. You have already told me that you can’t all the rubbish you used to, so your taste buds have changed pretty dramatically already. To reach your goal weight/body fat/ shape, i can assure you that your thinking will have changed once again. When all of us have weighed much heavier, we think differently, when we are in shape, our mindset can be completely different.
This way of eating is about being kind to your body, really tasting your food without excess additives and sweeteners, and reaping the benefits down the road. Keep the comments coming as you say it how it really is! So coming from you, the transformation will inspire plenty of others!
I think those reports r scare mongering, I have been on sweeteners 4 over 30 years and i’m fine. If u believed everything u read u wouldnt eat or drink period. Just my opinion, u must have some prospective
I’m not pretending to be an expert on food sweeteners but the one i spoke about is aspartame, is controversial since its approval in 1974. Of course, i have and most of us have consumed this product as it’s used in over 4000 foods, i have used sweetener myself, and have chosen for a long time not to use it, my choice is to eat more natural than i used to of course.
There is an ongoing study into aspartame, and i would recommend everyone who’s interested put in a google search on the product (aspartame), and look at the evidence and make your own minds up.
You are right to put it into perpective though, as i think the studies analyse people who are consuming a lot of this product. A healthy lifestyle has contributed to your lifetime of good health more than anything so well done on that.
Cyril just made me laugh out loud!! Nice one Cyril!!
I will persevere with cutting down the sugar, at the moment a coffee without is poison.
Come on Cyril, let’s go for it.
I used to use salt in all my cooking, now I hardly touch it. I have’nt bought salt for 3yrs!
I guess what I’m saying is that Keri is right. (again)
Thanks for the laugh Cyril!
Cyril is a character but has already come a long way and is just getting some good momentum going. Well done on the eating debs, the vast majority of your eating is good and thats good enough for me. By the way, im not always right, so put me right if you want, and i know you’ll enjoy that!
There are a number of people who have signed up for the site, they are a little nervous about posting thats all, but working on them! They are enjoying everyone’s comments too, entertaining at times!
cheers Deb,lol.Ker is right about this taste bud stuff.I’d never have thought me eating Natural yogurt with no matter what went in it.Another is pitta bread i either put turkey or tuna in it with tons of Lettuce which only my wife and daughter used to eat in this house.Which is why my daughter is playing hell with me for eating nearly all of it and finally the fruit in between meals was something i thought i would never eat either?but i’m even used to that now just the water to sort out and i’m nearly doing everything Ker advises us to.Cheers dude…….
