Every monday I would walk to primary school, no lift to school, no matter what the weather is like (just like today). You put a coat on in the dark weather and “got on with it”.
But when you got to school you didn’t brag about it or moan about it, that’s just the way it was. If someone had a lift to school, they were classed as someone a bit better off but also a little more “pampered”.
I used to go down the gym in the evening and there was no “it’s too dark, too wet, too cold” as an excuse not to go, there was certainly “I’m staying ‘safe’” by staying in the house and not going excuse, you wouldn’t even think about making up such an excuse.
You walked home often in the rain from school and on friday it was great to go right through the puddles as you wouldn’t be back til monday and you had the whole weekend.
“Staying safe” and avoiding the things we NEED to do in life has become fashionable with many, even with those who grew up in seemingly rougher and tougher times, years ago the idea of being “babied” and being told how to think instead of thinking for ourselves would have been ludicrous.
Avoiding fresh air is the opposite of staying safe for your health and wellness.
Staying in all day, not moving, scrolling your phone most of the time and being an expert on all the latest TV shows weakens your immune system, makes you stiffer, hurts your mental health and can become a very bad habit.
Not seeing people on a regular basis is a massive red flag, we need the human connection more than ever, the need to have a laugh and the need to catch up with what’s going on in the world and WE need to make that happen.
Bad weather is here, but since I’ve been born it’s ALWAYS rained 8-9 months of the year, we just get on with it and keep the SAME habits of exercising, moving more, eating as much natural food as we can, AND seeing plenty of people has NEVER been so important.
This is the BEST way to keep our immune system safe, our mental health safe and our bodies in great health at the same time. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it and think for yourself and don’t let your standards slip for others..
