Last great day of the week in weather terms today maybe, but you should use it to your fitness advantage.

The british lions recently played a rugby match in hong kong, and most players agreed that it was the most humid, and hottest place they had ever played rugby. Anyone who has been to hong kong will testify that to be true, and the humidity is unlike anything you will experience.

I was in hong kong in 1994 and have never felt so uncomfortable staying still even!

We haven’t got anywhere near like the temperatures of places like hong kong, and will never achieve the humidity, BUT these temperatures we have right now (likely to reach 26 degrees today) do help us with our fitness.

The lions medical team said as much with the game in hong kong on how training and playing in such intense conditions would benefit their players in the weeks to come.

If you get used to training well on a day/night like today, then when it gets cooler you should be able to train at a higher level.

The one BIG THING I can say to be cautious about all of this warm weather training is drink water regularly throughout the day, and in particular THROUGHOUT your training session. Training in warm weather without water is downright dangerous!!! Please do not train without water, I hate to repeat myself but I have to over-emphasise this!!!

Hopefully, we are now out of the stage where you avoid training just because it is sunny and warm too! Its time to have a professional approach to your training if you are really serious about your training and health, and this is what this blog is about every single day, to encourage you to be healthier, fitter and perform at the best of your ability to help you reach your goals quicker!

Friday 5th August

Your way of thinking dictates how you look, how you perform, how you feel, just about everything you do will be affected.

For example, if you were trading on the stock market the last few days, you would probably be seriously worried by now, in fact you would have been severely tempted to sell all your stocks because your personal wealth was quickly being destroyed.

The last stock market crash happened in 2008 of course, and the feelings are familiar now, so what do you do, sell or hold? Its all to do with emotions and your longer term view, market psychology makes millionaires every day, it also destroys them!!

So with your health and fitness, isn’t it true that the shape you’re in is decided by emotions?

You eat chocolate if you’re emotionally upset by some event in your day, you have a drink if someone upsets you, you have a drink to celebrate something, you pig out sometimes because you are happy, you go out for lunch and write off the entire day because it just “felt good”!!! All emotions that will help you get into shape or destroy your ability to be in shape.

Your emotions can be influenced by bad influences in your life. Perhaps your best friend is an all weekend drinker, so thats what YOU do?

Your emotions can be greatly supported by very good influences, perhaps your friends are all into keeping fit and healthy, and you’re able to train with them and shop with them for good healthy natural food? This support system can be very valuable for you and give you sustainable results in the way you look and feel!!!

Your emotions need to be steady above everything else, and stop the roller coaster weeks when you have two good days, then write off the rest of the week, then you have a good week, then someone upsets you and you have a terrible week again, thats no way to have sustainable results.

Emotions and controlling them can be one your most valuable assets!!!

May 7th

Your saturday treat may be happening right now, and you very much deserve it if you have been tight all week on your food. I don’t mean really small portions and missing meals either, i mean sensible sized portions of good quality food.

If you have made a good effort all week, then having a treat today will not matter at all will it?

If having a treat is just like another day, then making another excuse to have a treat today is just like another day for you, and you’re not really treating yourself, and getting or being in shape is not a very serious proposition for you.

Saturday is the day to let go a bit if you live a healthy lifestyle, because it switches off your mind a bit from the rigours of working out and being in shape, living a healthy lifestyle can be easy if you practice it a lot, but it can also wear you down if you don’t give yourself a break.

Whatever you are doing today, its a time to relax, eat of a bit of what you fancy, have a drink if you want and reflect on what has probably been a tough week.

Tomorrow is sunday and a workout early on would be the perfect remedy to your day of relaxing in all sorts of ways today!!!

We have discovered that a calorie is not a calorie certainly. We know there is a difference between a doughnut and an apple, at least i think we do and we have really ditched the 1000 calorie a day workouts haven’t we? Those days of beverley callard in the paper advising people to do her exercise videos and eat cardboard all day are surely at an end arent they?

The difference between now and then is we have even more knowledge than we did back then, perhaps 15-20 years ago, but somehow the obesity levels are still going up, alarmingly so in fact!! So how does that happen?!!

It happens most of the time because we eat too much refined sugar and too much saturated fat.

Then we go on a diet, and then severely restrict our calories, lose some weight, get fed up with it all and pile the weight back on again, and we miss the point every single time.

We talked about it yesterday, not once do we care about the quality of our food, its all about calories, calories, calories, calories and thats why a lot of us become unstuck and lose the plot………….once again.

I have said it a million times, how about concentrating on what we actually put in our mouths, rather than the calories. The food can be full of chemicals designed to destroy your insides over time, give you high blood pressure, put strain on your heart, clog your arteries up, yet we still eat those foods because they are ONLY 100 CALORIES!!!!! This is absolutely no reason to eat rubbish, because its always going to be destined to fail.

Lets get this one straight, PROCESSED FOOD IS NO GOOD FOR YOUR BODY AND NO GOOD FOR YOUR LONG TERM WEIGHT LOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this wonder theory i have about asking yourself every time you eat food, “is this food really going to do my insides good?”, isnt this a valid question to ask? If you can answer yes very much most of the time, THEN YOU WILL LOOK AND FEEL GOOD!!!

Hows that for a straight answer, simplifying everything and getting fired up for your fat loss efforts, keep it simple and you get very simple but powerful results!!!!!!
