Glad to be right back into it all and get a great couple of workouts in yesterday, and some today too!!!

The great energy that these bring can be fantastic, and being back in routine again will make you realise all of the energy you have been missing, especially when you were not training, and eating badly.

For all of you who are back on track, or at least partially so, will know what i am talking about!

For those of you who are yet to get into it, i strongly encourage you to do so. The new year is going to hit you like a truck otherwise. The last thing you will feel like is making a flying start to the new year when you feel all groggy and sluggish. Feeling this way can give you a major disadvantage in anything you want to do.

Just think of what job you have? You have to give effort to make a living, and if you have no energy, that’s going to be a challenge.

The prospect also of losing the body fat and weight in general can be daunting. That’s why once you decide to muster up all of that effort, it’s important to make the right choices!!

They were talking on the radio this morning about the latest seaweed diet! Apparently Victoria beckham is an endorser, as well as Brittany Spears. Seaweed is a superfood but relying on seafood to drop all your weight and feel better has to be one of the most desperate measures you can undertake?!!!

What’s wrong with eating sensible natural food, in moderation? What’s wrong with drinking enough water at regular intervals throughout the day? What’s wong with getting enough sleep and not drinking too much alcohol? What happened to these reliable common sense methods that really work ALL of the time?!!!

I urge to avoid the faddy diets, the weight loss clubs who only help for a very short period, then they pile all your weight back on (plus 5% more according to reliable research). You should know by now that these products make me feel sick, and they should be exposed for the frauds they are, and the long term misery they create.

Lighter life, herbalife etc? The ultimate waste of money and con artists! Save your money now and use your common sense this year to avoid these disgusting products!!

Wednesday 17th August

As we were talking about sports performance yesterday, its remarkable how similar a diet that you should be implementing yourself to get into shape and stay in shape, and the diets of footballers are often remarkably similar.

David beckham for example, when he was playing out in Italy credited the team’s nutritionist with helping his career go on for a few more years than he previously thought it would.

Get this, he was really speaking about some “revoultionary” foods that perhaps you have never heard of, what were these magical foods that set beckham on an indian summer in terms of his career?!!!

These “magical” foods were salmon and other fish in their natural state with no sauces or breadcrumbs, just plain old fish cooked in a healthy way with good old fashioned way with olive oil!!!

Then there was “magical” vegetables to go with it, and a whole array on wonderful veg in many different colours!!

Then he would eat a variety of fruit throughout the day for snacks and even had a small handful of nuts, such as almonds, brazils, cashews etc!!!

Also, he amazingly drunk water throughout the day, and insisted on going to bed early every night.

He very rarely drunk either, alcohol that is, and only a little during off season!!!

The result?

He was in the shape of his life, and he looked and felt fantastic, the porridge for breakfast had really energised him too apparently!!! The great man was feeling great going into his late 30’s!!!!

Okay sarcasm ended but what i describe is the truth regarding his diet, and he did and IS in incredible shape as we speak, anyone who reads the papers can see that!!!

So what we talk about on here every day, is very similar to beckham’s “magical” diet isn’t it? Or is it less than magical and more like just a healthy diet?!!!! Or does it sound more mystical if it comes from Italy, so they can take all the credit again and call it the meditterranean diet!!!!

Whatever marketing angle is used, you know that this diet, these foods and this way of life will work every time for you!!!!

20th January 2011

Mixing up your training is the hardest thing to come to terms with, besides actually doing the training in the first place. Most of us prefer to do one form of training and be comfortable with something we are fairly good at.

I know many people over the years to be obsessed with running and that’s it, that’s all they would do and a steady run would be all the variety they would want to experience.

They had never tried sprint training, hill running, running on beaches, or any form of resistance/weight training, it simply didn’t suit them in their opinion of course.

The facts are that they were/are depriving themselves of an all round programme that could be designed to work far better than the one they are on right now.

Weight training/resistance training is used in every single sport in the world now as science proves its value, and has so many benefits it would be impossible to list them here.

Then there’s the trainers who would never leave the gym, the “gym” was everything to them and no other training existed. A run or cycle in the great outdoors was alien to them, after all it couldn’t really be better than a “gym workout” could it?!!!

These types of individuals are also missing out, training should be a very enjoyable journey for you, taking in different experiences in as the weeks, months and years hopefully go by. If you don’t offer variety into your training, that horrible word “plateau” will soon come into your life.

Deep down, you know you want to be experiencing the kind of results that impress yourself as well as everyone else. You want your health covered too, no point in looking great and internally, you are sick and need attention.

Fortunately, looking good inside usually leads to looking good on the outside. If you’re fired up to make a difference in your life, then you need to open your mind up to all different types o training, and different kinds of food too.

I you’re a one trick pony, you will tend to get one dimensional results. Any programme has limited results for a certain period of time, so open your mind to change and try something new this weekend and that will usually mean getting outdoors, you never know, you may get to like it, never look back and love being outdoors!!!
