Sunday, 18th January

Most of you are doing exceptionally well in the first two weeks, but there will be plenty of ups and downs to come.

If you are looking to complete the 12 weeks perfectly, then that’s totally unrealistic. You will slip at times, but staying positive with your eyes on the overall improvement you’re making is vital. Your mind plays tricks with you, and making these changes may make you want to go back to your old ways at times.

If you have had a measurement this week, and your last one was BEFORE Christmas, then expect to have put body fat and inches ON because you haven’t been training as much, you have been eating as well, and you have probably been drinking more too.

You’re encouraged to be as consistent as possible with your training, this makes ALL the difference, and not listening to people who will put you off because deep down they don’t want you to be more successful than they are..

If you start skipping sessions, missing a week here and there, expect to feel de-motivated and finding it hard to get the same results. Don’t blame others why you’re not getting great results, when you analyse it all, if you have been eating poorly and missing training, then we cannot somehow conjure magic up for you and get you in shape.

Don’t tell yourself “stories” why you would have done it if so and so happened, why in the past body fat would have “dropped off quicker”. Be honest, you need to put the work in CONSISTENTLY and don’t miss sessions for the easiest of excuses. You have to want to do this because there’s plenty of people who will try to talk you out of being successful.

From research, theres plenty of evidence that successful people who get really fit and healthy, achieve sometimes staggering tranformations, often get “talked out” of their lifestyles by friends, usually because they are jealous of your success.

“Don’t do that anymore, you’re slim enough now”, “don’t lose ANYMORE weight for god sake”, “whats the point in getting fit anyway!!!”, “why don’t you come walking with me instead”, “you’re obsessed with being healthy!!!”.

These are classic signs of people close to you or you may work with who hate to see you doing so well.

Time to get your head down and focus on the huge change you are making to yourself. Be the one who says “no” at times, be the one who is a little different, be the one who doesn’t follow the crowd, and then you will achieve the extraordinary!

Tuesday, 23rd December

Everyone who becomes successful with their health or just about anything never actually “own” it, it can never somehow stay that good forever without working on it. It needs to be something you to develop every day so you become better at it.

Once you realise that it’s really YOU who can really change your health, your fitness, your wellbeing, your moods, your energy levels, the way you look and feel, then you will feel liberated because you will realise that it really IS in your own hands after all.

The choices you can make vary wildly, many with wildly different outcomes.

1. If you want to become really unhealthy, start going for a takeaway each night and start buying wine/beer for the house and get stuck into it every night. Then stop exercising immediately and your mission to become really unhealthy will become a reality far sooner than you think.

Your moods will increase drastically, you will develop a negative state of mind and your standards in everything are likely to drop.

2. If you want to feel amazing and finally be healthy and fit, then try the following.

Try getting to bed earlier, start drinking more water, start exercising, drink alcohol in moderation, start eating more nutritious foods, and start setting targets for yourself along the way. Measure your progress and once you hit your initial goals, set yourself higher and higher standards.

Not everyone is prepared to put the work in to get to a high level they can be proud of. Focusing on getting better is the key, rely on your own efforts and forget about outside forces, because if you put your head down and really go for it, you can achieve anything you want.

Monday, 22nd December

Most of you are really finding it really difficult to make training happen for you this week in any meaningful way, and are just trying to get through your sessions in any way you can.

I see this happening most years of course, and a different strategy will always work far better for you.

So when it comes to your workouts, you need to simplify what you do more.

Time will obviously be the biggest constraint this week, so making the time you DO have count is ultra-important.

Time-crunching your workouts will mean cutting your overall number of exercises and sets, but raising the intensity of everything you do.

If you normally for example do 3 sets of 8 on each weight training exercise, then you need to drop that down to 2 sets of 12 giving everything in those two sets.

If you normally hit 10-20 prowlers at the end of your workout, then try just ONE to the three bollards. Much more time efficient but still get a huge amount from your sessions.

The new bikes are great for this, instead of doing 30 minutes on the other bikes, just 2-4 minutes can be unbelievable on these new bikes, and definitely get the job done.

You can use the same strategies on the rowers and ski machine, just work harder and for less overall time.

So when you hit the gym, aim to do what you can in 20-30 minutes, going as non-stop as possible, starting again when you get your breath back.

This way of training will definitely get the job done, plus saving you plenty of time to do other things at this very busy time of year!

Monday, 1st December

All the individuals we have training right now are ones highly motivated to make yet another change in themselves in the last month of the year. December is just as important as any month to us, we have never been a “January gym”, we always look

longer term and cater for those who want sustainable and long lasting results and health benefits.

These are the people who know that constantly good performances are key to raising themselves for one more measurement this year.

They know the benchmarks that they have set themselves against, and the ones they really want to overcome.

Instead of feeling sorry for themselves, because maybe a lot of people they know don’t exercise at this time of year, they are striving for more because they see so many inspirational people training next to them in the gym all the time, and encourages them to push further even sometimes they don’t even feel like it.

Nothing worth achieving was ever attained by “run of the mill” efforts, or “going through the motions”. Everyone knows now that you only get out of this what you put in.

The more you come out of your comfort zone, the more likely you are to deliver consistent, impressive and staggering results you will be proud of.

We are proud to be in a programme you never stay still, you always want more out of and when you reach one level then there’s always going to be an even better more fulfilling one again.

The first of the month is an excellent time to think big again, dig deeper and really explore what your body is capable of again, and finish the year off with a massive high.
