Day 75 Good Friday?

Good friday is great news for most of those employed, as you get a day off and for many others of course, you’re not due back until tuesday because of the bank holiday monday.

Easter is always a great holiday to have, but doesn’t exactly get you motivated when it comes to exercise, and certainly when it comes to eating healthily.

Easter eggs are always a feature, going out for food is always popular, and exercising over this period is sometimes frowned upon by certain people (perhaps they should look at how out of condition they are before making comments?).

Making the efforts to exercise over this period is highly commendable, and also vital to most of you who are trying to get to 84 days on a high. Four or five days eating rich food and not working out can throw your train right off course, and possibly destroy your motivation to get back onboard.

Having two small children, the only time i get now is 6am and i mean that’s the latest, to get out there and fit a run in at the weekend. If i don’t do anything until tuesday, i put as much weight on as the next person, so a workout is not only going to make me feel better (as i always say), but will keep needless weight coming on exactly when i don’t need it!

When i eat badly, i always get some adverse effects on the way i feel. I tend to wheeze pretty badly when i’ve had some junk, and generally i am likely to feel lousy all week long after a few days going to town on my food and one night having a few drinks.

In thep past, i used to think it was the “done thing” to get blasted and eat lots of junk, times have changed for me now of course and i no longer see it as some kind of “reward”! I do like ot have a few drinks now and then, i have made no secret of that, but its all about moderation. If you have a  couple of drinks, then you can still exercise the next day and actually feel okay! If you get blasted, the next day is totally gone and those 24 hours can be a very painful existance!!

My plan the weekend, workout at 6am tomorrow and sunday at 6am, some weights on sunday and back to work tuesday.

I will eat a bit of what i fancy the weekend but that’s what keeps you human and sane. I will have a couple of drinks tomorrow night, and it does chill you out sometimes after a tough week. If i didn’t train i would put the weight on as i keep telling you! I’m not some freak who can keep the weight off without trying, its tough for me too and thats why i feel i can help you.

This is my full time career and i have suffer the same highs and lows that you all do, i have just developed better coping strategies than some of you which i always try to share!

Have a great weekend!

Day 58

How’s your daily strategies going?

Are you filling up your plate with vegetables at every opportunity?

Are you eating white meats, leaner beef and plenty of fish?

How about your fruit intake? Is there always a constant supply in the house?

Are you eating wholemeal bread, or wholemeal pitta bread? Have you made this change yet?

Are you have whole grains in your day, such as brown rice and wholegrain/wholewheat pasta?

Are you eating as a family together? It’s a great way to educate the rest of the family on what they should be eating, and to introduce difference vegetables mixed in with other foods.

Are you volunteering to cook? You can’t expect to impose a healthy eating regime and have it all literally put on plate for you! Contribution is the kitchen is vital, plus you can see that your food is being prepared in the right way.

Is there still tempting food in the cupboards or the fridge? You know it’s always going to be eaten at sometime in the future, you don’t need temptation in front of you every day!

If you have a family, are you helping them to learn about food, and the importance of eating properly, and the way it will make them look and feel in the future? This can be of enormous help to them, if it’s not done in a patronising way of course!

Are you avoiding butter and margarine on your bread, this is an easy way to save 100-200 calories in a sandwich, plus save your arteries from work extra hard every day!

How’s your drinking going (alcohol)? If you are drinking in the week, you’re not likely to be successful and your body’s fat burning will be largely shut down!

Are you sleeping properly? This is one of the most underestimated areas of your programme, try getting to bed early in the week and your performances will be good, if not they are likely to be mediocre, your choice!

Are you drinking enough water? If you are, notice how good you feel during that period of time after you have drunk it, relying on teas and coffee actually dehydrates you, and can make you very irritable, 3 cups of either are the maximum before their benefits decrease sharply!

How’s you salt intake? Truly the silent killer, salt in your food means you are pushing up your blood pressure, and you will see significant differences too if you don’t add salt when cooking, tough for about a week or so but after this time, you will learn to actually TASTE your food again, this is a must believe me so throw it out now if you want good health!

These strategies are tried and tested and will help you be very successful, give them a go!

Day 52 pain versus pleasure

Day 52 Pain versus pleasure

We all have this choice every day in our lives, and making the right choice is critical at it will usually shape our future.

If a couple of weeks ago like jean, you were frustrated by the scales and whatever you seemed to do, the scales wouldn’t come down, then the easiest thing in the world would have been to wrap it in.

This is avoiding the pain that you think will permanently be there if you carry on what you’re doing, so you go for pleasure instead and that could be instant gratification of fish and chips you haven’t had for a while? It could be a bottle of wine, it could be two bags of crisps, it could a big huge tub of Joe’s ice cream, whatever it is, that idea of pleasure in that precise moment seemed highly attractive!

Through looking at the reality of her progress once again, jean realised that the scales were not reality, and there were in fact lots of positives she has achieved so far, enough to carry on with the programme and not only that, but to have the confidence to raise her performance several notches, to a level she hasn’t been for years.

This is now HER pleasure, the joy of feeling out of this world and making rapid physical improvements that take her back in time almost!

So you can see, the power of pain and pleasure can literally shape your destiny.

The feeling of throwing it all in must have happened to all of you at times, and it’s interesting to find out what keeps you going.

It’s also interesting to see what happens when you do “come off the wagon”, the way you feel after a binge on food or alcohol, or both! Most of you tell me that all of that sugary/fatty food actually makes you feel sick now, gives you a bad stomach and even headaches! This is actually a positive sign!

A positive sign in the fact that your body has now become used to good, natural healthy food, and it doesn’t tolerate “chemical experiments” going off in your body any more with all that junk you used to put in. Your body wants to be “looked after” now and wants the good life!

The idea of working out through the most icy and snowy January and February for some time has been off-putting, and even seemingly impossible for some. Those of you that managed it probably worked through the pain and got the instant pleasure afterwards when you had a bath or shower, knowing deep inside that you had improved yourself that day, and you actually felt better because you got some fresh air in your body, which as you know by now gets rid of dead cells and regenerates your body.

The pain of doing 84 days straight on this challenge is too much for some before they start, this is “too long” they say, but how can 84 days seem too long if it changes your life for good?

Those of you in day 52 today will be thankful you have made it this far, and have that warm feeling inside again because you know you have found new things out about yourself again, overcome all those challenges I have thrown you, and are still here to tell the tale!

This should now give a lot of pleasure because you know you now have a diary of success, the fact that you’re still here means you are becoming truly successful, and are beginning to master the emotions that have troubled you in the past, and not allowed you to become the person you really wanted maybe?

Pain and pleasure are facts in life, but using them to our own advantage and not taking the easiest option every time are great strategies that allow us to become our true selves, and finally achieve what we know we are capable of.

Day 18

Day 18

Can you really believe we are in day 18 already? And I can tell you what’s got me really fired up today. Chris L contacted me today and was pleased to tell me that he last lost one stone and one pound already! 18 stone 2 pounds down to 17 stone 1 pound, quite an achievement and he’s still not happy! He has lots more to go he said but he’s very pleased he’s on the right track!

The good news is after checking my list of unique visitors to this site, we now have 89 individuals following our daily progress. This started off around 3 ten weeks ago, so has built up well without any advertising and thank you for that. Same people posting all the time though so a few more you posting would make sense now and help everyone else in their efforts to be in great shape.

My first week back working this week after taking last week off for the baby last week, and for the first time today, I was tired! Getting up daily at 4.15am doesn’t help maybe but I am used to that now, baby getting up in the middle of the night sometimes happens to, but everyone goes through that!

My solution? The natural reaction was to have 3 cups of coffee straight away, I didn’t, I have some water to clean my system out after sleep and to get my performance system ready. I had my porridge and protein shake and getting in the car I was starting to feel up for the day.

I get offered tea and coffee all day and I could take them, its an easy way to feel “up” for the day. I have found in the past though that it is a temporary high, and makes me irritable and leaves my energy levels often on the floor at the end of the day! Also, I can get sick of all that caffeine in my body, and I really believe my diet can sort me out for the day in a natural and better way. If I didn’t believe that was possible, I wouldn’t be posting here today. After a couple of workouts today, my energy levels have actually gone up, there have been no crashes and I don’t come home like an irritable pig!!

This eating thing is sometimes intimidating but here’s a challenge to you. TRY eating this way for 24 hours, then another 24 hours, then another one and will you please how much better you feel? Will you please do that? This will help others and most importantly, YOU WILL BE HELPING YOURSELF!!

All of us want to feel better, all of us want to look our best, all of us like compliments when we look good and have made significant progress, its human nature and you don’t need rubbish diet pills, magic beans or magic portions to do it.

Sometimes you have to give complete faith to something and I’m telling you right now that this is the day to do it. If you weren’t looking for amazing progress, you wouldn’t be on this blog and I’m offering you just that, amazing progress and it all depends on how much you’re prepared to put into this.

If you put a little bit in, you will get a little bit out. If you give your heart and soul to this, by mid-april, you will absolutely astound yourself with your unbelievable transformation. It can be done and give yourself over to this effort, you can do it.

Chris is setting the early example along with many others on this site, and we have all of February, march and most of april to go. The results could be staggering so let’s re-commit to this and be your best always!
