Sort your eating out……….the little things matter

The little things always add up to the big thing so its time to fix your health once and for all.

You may have changed your diet considerably for years and that has been a very good effort.

The final step is the little things, the sauces, the salad cream, the mayo, in other words the condiments.

We are talking about the stuff you have in the kitchen which i wouldnt consider eating, if you want to be at your best that is.

Now that i am without those products in my life, i dont wheeze, i dont cough and splutter so much, i dont have any shortness of breath.

This is exactly what happens when i put these items in my life, and im deadly serious, perhaps i just “got used” to them, in a bad way! Now im very glad they are out of my life, never a truer statement made!!

I have seen countless people go through massive changes in their lives, and the key element has always been changing your way of thinking and for some its either massively changed or changing slightly for some even. After changing the fundamentals in your diet, the little do things DO matter and im so convinced im going to really bag on about it!!

This is the statement you need to think about

“IS WHAT IM ABOUT TO EAT/DRINK ALL NATURAL AND IS IT GOING TO DO ME ANY GOOD?”

If you can honestly answer this as YES 80% or more of the time, then you’re going to be in fantastic shape full stop!!!

This means you can still have your moderate amount of wine, and moderate amount of anything, just that the majority of the stuff you have has to be natural and of good nutritional value.

So the little things will do you no end of good and it will take you 2-4 weeks to get used to it. The results with the cholesterol, blood pressure, resting heart rate, circulation and everything will be tremendous!

lets go over it again, no mayo, no margarine, no butter, no salt, have i gone on too far already? Yes, butter and margarine, these are NEEDLESS calories. Flora is a huge multi-national brand, but it is full or rubbish!! They say its better for you than butter or other maragrine, but what if you didnt eat ANY of them!!

Try it out and let mow know the staggering results you will achieve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please try it out, you can do it and save you lots of calories every day, no excuses, come on lets do it and take yourself to another level!!!

Have a great weekend and let me know how you get on?

Eating before exercise

Its more important than you think to have a snack before exercise.

We are all a bit different and react that bit different to all sorts of foods, so working out what best food choice for you and agrees with you is always important.

Whole grains, lower far dairy or fruits will always work well for you as a stop gap for your workouts and give you some energy for your tougher workouts through the summer.

Try eating these snacks if you can at least 30 minutes before exercise to make sure your food goes down properly, and your food is ready to release energy into your system.

The 30 minute rule applies to smaller snacks, if you were to eat a big meal before training, you may need 90 mins to 2 hours before your workout.

I find some people have better digestive systems than others. I find i can eat and literally then go for a run. I could probably do a big meal and exercise 30-60 minutes later, but that took a lot of getting used to because i tend to eat on the run throughout the day, and took me years to get used to that because of my lifestyle.

If you stick to the guidelines i first mentioned, you shouldn’t really go wrong.

I used to try the no food strategy before a workout because i thought i may feel sick. This was a stupid strategy because i would always then fail towards the second half of the workout, due to lack of carbohydrates left in my system. I avoided the sickness for sure, but it wasn’t worth losing all that energy.

You will find also that if you don’t have food before workouts and you have no carbs in your system, then your body will use precious lean muscle tissue already on your body. This can be a disaster because you have worked so hard to get in the first place, as well as muscle being so important for your metabolic rate (the rate your body burns calories). The last thing you want is to slow down your metabolism, so lets keep getting your snacks in every 3-4 hours and really make this thing happen for you!

Not eating before exercise is bad news full stop, just like the idea of not eating breakfast, any time your body goes long periods without food, its goes into starvation mode and stops burning fat so easily.

Keeping your weekly eating well-structured and full of nutrients is the only way to go if you want the best out of yourself.

Day 2

The talking is over and we’re off and away! We are in it now and all those promises you made to yourself need to be carried out. I never said it’s going to be a bed of roses all the way, indeed you are going to make some tough decisions along the way, perhaps some you have always found hard in the past. You will face two choices on certain days, do i do my workout or should i skip it? One missed workout won’t matter will it? You can see how your mind will offer you different choices that each will lead to different outcomes?

It’s in the moments of indecision that your eventual destiny is shaped. You know if you do your workouts, eat well at least 80% of the time, you’re going to look and feel better. Swing it around and if you have haphazard weeks, training only here and there, eating off and on, you will have mediocre results at best!

The second day for you now should be met with enthusiasm, and you should be filled with a deep desire to not only do well, but finally get this thing right once and for all. You don’t need to be settling for second best anymore, or use excuses such as “fitness isn’t for me”! That’s rubbish and you know it, you are capable of what your mind tells you. If you think big and focus on your overall goals the whole way, you’re going to be achieving some pretty things, as long as you have taken action to get there.

Taking action as you know by now, is really name of the game. You can talk a good game every day if you want, but putting things off to another day will not get you anywhere. You know the old saying “the road named someday needs to a town called nowhere”! If you get inot the habit of really doing these workouts i talk about every day, if you get some fresh air at least a couple of days per week, if you eat a lot of healthy produce, and try to eat fresh whenever possible, i’m telling you now without any shadow of a doubt, you’re going to be in great shape full stop, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, if they do, then they don’t want you to succeeed. There are plenty of people who all want the same thing on here, to be healthy, successful and happy, and really achieve something special in the next 12 weeks.

Don’t let anyone put you off this road, you’re going to learn that being consistent is the true secret of being fit and healthy, and mentally strong. This is your time, let’s do it!!

Snow energy!

I would never recommend this to others but i did get a run in down the coastal path this morning, and thinking it may have been milder this morning, i was wrong and it was all ice and snow, with the prospect of steady snow sunday and monday!

I can’t tell you how great i feel this morning after it though, i truly have tons and tons of energy after it and i’m fired up to post this early in the morning! It is sometimes hard to remember how good you feel after a workout when the weather is like what it is this week and last. It can sap your energy in a strange kind of way. The old saying that you can be more tired sometimes doing nothing is never more true! The dogs appreciated it too with me this morning, and from their point of view, their daily exercise too is essential and can seriously affect their mood and feeling of wellbeing.

Cyril posted today that he may be going out with the kids and sledge later, and that’s all good too. Let’s face it, if you tried cycling or running off road in these conditions, you are seriously risking some big injuries. The bottom line this week is that the week shouldn’t become a write off. The inside workouts can be taken to new levels, nothing wrong with going for a walk at all, as long as it’s safe of course and take your time.

This weather is also no excuse to eat badly, but if you do, put it behind you and start the next day as a new day, and you’re going to put it right. Like exercise, good food will do simply that, make you FEEL better and it’s been tried and tested. The healthy foods we all know about now are available in every supermarket in the land, there’s nothing stopping them come into the country and don’t buy into this rubbish that sugary and fatty food keeps you warm! I thought central heating did that?!!

And today, after a good shower and breakfast, i actually feel warmer and need less clothes for now. Snow doesn’t have to drain your energy away and make you eat a lorry load of chocolate and mince pies, it really doesn’t have to do that!!! Cyril, i want to hear how much energy you had after you came back from being out in the snow?!!!
