Fresh attitude

Sometimes the best way to feel fresh and enthused about your training is to look for new standards and take a look at all the sport going on at the moment.

Some of you cycle a lot, and the main event is about to start this saturday, the tour de france of course. Lance Armstrong says its his last tour and although the 3 weeks can seem like a bore for some, i will be glued to this game of chess on a bike. If you watch it every day it can be addictive as you learn about tactics and why certain riders don’t do the obvious things at times, saving energy for later even more incredible feats.

All of this will add to your own performance in your cycling. You will take notice of your own bike more and its maintenance, how to improve your own performance and how to get faster and eventually use less energy, that has to be the goal.

Whenever you follow a professional sport, and you see athletes do it better, most of us are inspired to get better ourselves.

It could be the world cup, and what youngster doesnt want to play magical football like the Brazilians.

Its always good to strive to be the best we can be, and all of this interest you may now be showing in sports, Wimbledon, the world cup, summer rugby internationals, the tour de france etc will give you a whole new fresh attitude that will put fresh vigour into your training and eating.

Day 28

Here we are then, end of the foruth week and a pivotal point!

We are a third of the way through, and many of you have had very good results.

We are also on Valentine’s day, and in case you think i have lost my mind and wondering what Valentine’s day has to do with our programme, it is always the time that people have given in on their new year resolutions, that is if they have got this far in the first place!!

January 1st seems a long way back for most people and the promises they made to themselves to finaally do it this year!

Why have they failed? Maybe it’s because they had unrealistic plans in the first place and their targets were too high (such as lose 3 stone by march or else!). Maybe they have joined a gym where they have little or no instruction, and the people advising them weren’t really qualified or experienced enough to really help them. After all, surely there is more to being an instructor than knowing how to work the machines?!!

Another reason of failure is going on a too restricted diet, under 1200 calories per day is not only unrealistic but it is dangerous and a state of being malnourished, please ask your doctor this or check any medical manual. Plus, you cannot keep this silly practice up for life, which in turn leads to you putting all the weight back on, and 5% according to latest statistics!

Another reason of failure is expecting a perfect world! Guess what? It doesn’t exist! There will always be bumps on the road, its my job to make you avoid them and overcome them. Life is full of pressure and stress at times, but if you’re eating better and healthier, and training and exercising most days, you automatically feel better, and statistics show you will automatically cope with life’s stress in a much more positive way.

Back to today then! What do you have planned this sunday? If you can’t find the time to exercise on a sunday and especially on this challenge, you need to take a long hard look in the mirror, and really wonder if you’re commited to changing your life for the better.

So what’s, its very cold out there! Haven’t you some extra clothes and hows about a pair of gloves, they weren’t that expensive when i last looked?

The choice you have today is either making a meaningful contribution to your health and life in general, or lying on the settee all day and moaning about life and the week ahead?!

If you do get active, that week ahead will look mightily more attractive, i guarantee it! Plus you will be on course still to looking the way YOU WANT by spring/summer, its really not that far away!!
