A lot of the workouts I design are so productive because everyone CAN DO THEM.

I never ask anyone to do an exercise or a programme I do not think they can do.

Everyone knows now that in our gym, the females and the males train through the same movements and they train hard, there is absolutely NO “you are a woman so you had better use the treadmill and bike only, and the rower now and again, and maybe a couple of light weights if you are lucky!”.

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE INSULT and shows a complete lack of knowledge by whoever is telling you that! Tucked away in the corner is not an option for anyone who trains with us.

In every area of life now, women are doing things few thought they could handle a generation ago due to blinkered insulting thinking by the establishment. Everyone knows we train hard with weighs and against resistance and we are proud to do the best for our members.

When you go to work, your job description now applies to everyone, a generation ago that used to apply to only men.

As a woman in today’s society, you have much more responsibilities now than a generation ago. Juggling life, work and family now is harder than a generation ago when you wouldn’t have had so many pressures going back then during every single day.

So WHY should you be in an exercise programme that assumes you are not so mentally strong and less capable than the average man in the gym environment?!!! We are not back in the 1950’s!!!

Most of our girls are better than the men, anyone can see that?!!!

Whatever limitations you think you had, they are about to go out the window. Women are not “supposed to do ONLY this and that”, that statement is rubbish and has no scientific or practical foundation.

We treat everyone equally no matter what and put no limits on the results you can get, so start looking to get a lot more out of your programme from the exercises that REALLY work and start working to your potential!

Tuesday, 11th February

Everyone wants to practice things they are good at, what they excel in and its human nature to look at your strengths.

Our training should make us think what we are struggling on, what our weaknesses are, what we need to really improve. What our injuries, our past injuries or breakages when it comes to joints and bones? All these things need addresses before old age comes, because it gets even harder then but still great advancements can be done even then!

This is not a negative, its only going to improve what we like doing in the first place.

If we like to play rugby or football to the best of our ability for example, then working on our weaker areas will only enhance our performance.

Just being stronger with weights or just being better on the treadmill won’t guarantee a better sporting performance, it will help A LOT, but all the stuff we do in our training will give you all the little “add ons” that will make you the difference between okay at a sport, to excelling at it.

The top athletes are the ones who do the little things to improve, this what separates a great athlete from an average one.

You have every opportunity to use the latest science of training to take you wherever you want to be.

The only thing stopping you would be falling for the trap of doing the same old thing all the time. If you do the same old thing, you’re going get the same old results.

We are looking to get the very best out of you, so start searching where you can get even more from your training, more out of your nutrition, and how you can get an even more positive state of mind to see you through the ups and downs of getting into top shape!

Tuesday, 3rd December

From a training perspective, it’s the time of year when a lot of individuals put the training and eating well elements of their life on the backburner.

Going shopping physically or shopping from the armchair, getting presents for Christmas seems to take precedent, no matter what along with a number of other excuses.

“I have to go shopping, it can’t wait”!

“I will leave training till after christmas, I am too busy”

“It’s too cold to train”

“It’s too dark to train”

“I may as well make the most out of Christmas, because in January I am REALLY going to do it this time and get into my best ever shape”

“My friend has dropped off training so I will”

“I just DO NOT train at Christmas and that’s that”!

“It’s December and I am going to make the most of it, I am going to drink and eat as much as I want, one life I have!”

“I have been good all year, I am going to let it all hang out starting now and nobody’s going to stop me”

If any of these excuses sound familiar, then you may be guilty of falling for the same old story of getting out of shape in December, which can cause immense pain in early January, when a lot of repair work needs to be done again.

If you speak to anyone who trains throughout December for the first time, ask them was it worth it?
You will find they have never felt better, they actually fit their clothes Christmas time, and have a bit of what they fancy in food and drink terms as much as anyone else, but find they enjoy it more because they have put a lot of work in already and deserve their treats!

The feedback I get is that they hit January running and usually outperform in a month that most people are playing catch up, and struggling just to catch their breath.

They usually start the new year far more optimistic and their goals are much higher than ever before!!!

So whatever choices you make in December, after all it’s a free country, consider the two options and which outcome work for you best!

Friday, 13th September

If you’re putting the big workouts in this week, and are looking for superior results, then you need to keep up the relentless intensity of the workouts. Working in a low rest, big energy exercise cost kind of way, will reduce your body fat and seriously increase your strength, making you enjoy the best of both worlds.

The lack of rest in between sets is the real killer, and this is the biggest challenge to keep up. It requires a lot of focus and determination in getting the job done well and seeing it through.

The culmination of this effort is always significant, and getting used to a typical 45 seconds in between sets is ideal. Having 5 minutes rest in between weight training set is totally unacceptable if you want to be well conditioned!

Going through the motions with plenty of rest in between sets is what most people do, but you’re not most people and you demand that much more out of yourself surely by now

Fighting through these type of workouts is always tough, this is why good food will always power you through, help you recover quickly and allow you to grow into your next phase of development.

Training hard, eating right with an abundance of nutrients, and regular proper sleep are all of vital importance if you want to keep on moving forward and keep getting better and better, and age doesn’t really matter in that equation for getting better and better as we spoke about yesterday!

Making the effort to do a workout on your own when its easier to miss it and do something else, is a critical decision that many people get wrong, and the most important workout for you can be the extra workout on the weekend that you may be putting off for whatever reason. The returns on the weekend workout can be considerable though, so use even a 20 minute window for getting even more out of yourself.

6 extra workouts in a 6 week period can change a lot again for you in health so start putting an extra one at the weekend and you will only benefit in a big way.

Give it 6 weeks and your body will look and feel a lot different. Most people eat and drink more calories at the weekend, so it makes perfect sense to be far more active.
