Day 34

Repitition is another key to ultimate success, just like routines in order to keep you in good form for the long term.

Take the case of a piano. When i was in school, we used to have the blind gentleman come round to “fix” the piano every couple of months. He would walk in with his faithful guide dog and make sure the piano was in perfect working order, as it was used a lot every day in our school.

Why would a piano need such constant care? It shouldn’t really go wrong should it? The reality was it did and it’s similar to us in many ways.

If you look at our own bodies, there are still people out there thinking we still only need “one magical diet” and everything in life will live happily after. That’s why diets don’t work if they are faddy and they don’t make sense. See what i said yesterday about eating right for life and make your choices as natural as possible.

Just like the piano, you need to train/workout on a constant basis, no one size fits all workout will do it, we all have different abilities after all, some of us have different problems and some can’t do certain things. I do believe though that there is a workout out there for everyone, and literally anyone can get into very good shape, it’s just working with the cards you were dealt, and making the best of it. This isn’t a compromise as i believe most people get a deck of cards you can do amazing things with, despite the obstacles you may well have to overcome.

So the bottom line is that one workout say today and never workout again of course is never going to work. You need to exercise regularly every week if you want to be successful, and you need to keep your body in tune like that piano we had in school. If you don’t exercise, you will be soon hitting those bum notes again!

The bottom line with food is the same, if you eat well 80% of the time, then you are going to be in tune most of the time, going to feel great and have enough energy to do whatever you want. Plus, your chances of staying disease free for the rest of your life are greatly enhanced, always concentrate on getting your insides healthy and your outside appearance will look after itself.

This is why we are doing daily updates on here, we all need to be “kept in tune” like that piano, we all want to hitting the high notes for the rest of our lives. Keeping ourselves in tune means exercising and eating well, when it becomes second nature to do that you will know you are truly living the healthy way, and that you have a very bright future.

Cant wait for monday cos i dont care if it’s “p”ing down that track is having an hammering no matter, what till i’ve done this challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. great attitude cyril, you wont be perfect all the time, life happens!! Even if you score a 7 out of 10, you will be doing amazing, dont forget if a baseball star has a 3.5 out of 10 average in batting, he is a hall of famer!! something to think about!

  5. thing is Ker thats whats worse is knowing i’m able to do it but couldn’t.That was worse than the cold or what ever it was itself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. and you can do it cyril, a week here and there is not going to hurt you too much, you will come back fresh and reasdy to go, dont worry about any weight going on either, it will come straight off again!

  7. Hi Cyril. Keri has hit nail on head again. Don’t worry you will get it going again because you are committed to the challenge. I have had a mediocre week. Started well then dumped last 3 days. NOT weighing today ‘cos if I have gained weight I will be sad. SO I will get going again today and not look back and criticise myself as I usually end up doing. My shoulders feel better today although they feel bruised!! Can only think I overcooked my indoor workout on Thurs and strained myself.
Jean, hope the results come in for you this weekend. You are working SO hard and you deserve the rewards.
We’re heading towards March and better weather (I hope) and that will give us all a lift!!

  8. consistency is your friend debs and thanks for a great supporting post for cyril and everyone, we need a big week from you!!

  9. Well guys, stayed the same, have looked at my sheet for last week and really Ke I cant see what the problem is. Had 7 workouts during the week, day off yesterday, so

Mon cleaned house in the morning had Jasmine in the afternoon. Cals 1,260
    Tues walked 40mins a.m cycled 1hr 4mins p.m Cals 1,322
    Wed cycled 1hr, sprint x3 a.m, walked 1hr 11minsp.m Cals 1,290
    Thur walked 13mins, jogged 20mins, walked 26.30mins Cals 1,260
    Fri cycled 1hr 2min sprint x3 Cals 1,280
Sat Indoor workout 17.28mins, Punchbag 3 rounds 9.34 mins Cals 1,470
Sun Day off Jasmine has sleep over took her home via the park 2.30pm Cals 1,800

Obviously I have to cut back on my intake and try and up my workouts, not rocket science. Andrew told me he stayed the same also, he had 17,500 cals and did 8 workouts, he normally loses weight on that. My total cals were 9,682. I have binned my PUMPS, did alright 2day without them, thinking it could b the steroids, most successful week 4 me was the first, looked at my chart for that week and it was unremarkable. Cals 7,620 workouts 6. 2,000 cals less and 1 workout less. What do you think Ke?

  10. jean
i think you have done incredibly well there, and one of your very best week and a very big positive with the asthma situation.

The big thing jumping out for me is the fact that you are letting your life being dictated by the scales again. Your waist will undoubtedly come in again, your clothes will soon feel better again, your energy levels will go up again, and yes steadily, your weight will come down.

Got a very good comment and post coming your way at the end of the week who’s weight has not come down much, but lost 5 inches around her waist? I know she prefers to be looking amazing with the waist and hips down so much, than a few pound off the scales.

If you go by the scales all the time, you are setting yourself up for failure, be consistent and IT WILL COME IN FOR YOU no doubt and secretly you know that!

Have more confidence in yourself, and come back stronger tomorrow, a true sign of character is not when things are going well, but when things in life dont go so well, im counting on you being a fighter and having a great week!!

  11. Well Ke, my waist is the same too, no change. I am not goin to give up, and am disappointed that you think I will, I’m not saying that, my question to you was, do you think I should reduce my calorie intake futher? Today I have had 930 cals my day so far, should I stop, cause you keep saying that under 1200 is malnourished, I think I have to reduce it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indoor workout 17.31mins, walked 11mins, jogged 20 mins, walked 11mins

B/fast 11.40 porridge, fruit, protien and milk allowance

3.30 Granery bread, 2 slices from small loaf, tuna salad

    walked 45mins

E/meal Veg, mash, chicken breast, 1 slice granery

    930 calories

  12. looks fine to me and keep it up above 1200 at all costs, any butter in the mash? You have to be willing to have a few good weeks in a rown, thats when you get real momentum. its like having a few bad weeks and you put weight on, its difficult to stop gaining.

I know many girls who lose weight in 2 week intervals, rather than 1 week intervals, and look at the 4-6 picture, rather than the 1 week picture, it will be a positive step trust me.

If you keep on doing the right things, and dont have a blowout each time scales dont move, it will come in for you, you have to believe that and perseverence is your biggest asset right now!

  13. Jean, Jean, Jean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What are you doing to yourself?
You KNOW that eating too few calories will prevent you from losing weight.
Your body thinks it is being starved and HOLDS ON to its fat reserves.

Please, Jean, do what you know works. You are one of the most experienced
people on here. Keri paid you the compliment that you can be a great athlete.
Use that positivity to your advantage!! I will NEVER EVER be called a great
athlete, I envy you that possibility!!

Come on lovely Jean!! Chin up, do it the right way. NO STARVING!!
Forget those ######## scales and relax a bit more.
    Debx

  14. great support debs! jean is at a critical stage right now, and as a chance to win big time here in terms of mental strength, up to you jean but i know you’re smart enough to do the right thing, however tempting the quick fix is right now!

  15. Thanx Debs, you and me are in the same position, I am not too down hearted, really, just want a KICK START that is why I thought of cutting back. Have just had another 90 cals, sugar free jelly, half a banana and half a yogurt. And Ke, I dont know of any QUICK FIX, do tell!! And yes I am flattered that Keri thinks that I could b a great athlete, and I am goin to prove him right, I’m ok really, just wanted Keri’s advice on how to get it goin. Next week Debs, you me and LITTLE MAN Cyril, we will have a good week, I will have less calories this week, I allowed myself 1,800 on Sunday, had a bit more to eat, 4 lagers and 2 glasses of red wine, that WONT happen this weekend. What I did find today with my indoor workout and my run is that even without my PUMPS, I was not sooooo BREATHLESS, I think the HILL WORK is doin me some good, cause I am normally REALLY PUFFING AND BLOWING, so that is good news I think. BUTTER Keri, what’s that, no butter, no salt, no mayo, have vinigarette with my tuna. Total 2day 1020 cals, sorry Ke, too late now to have more. Have a good week guys. Jean xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  16. think your falling into my trap Jeany.I use to look at the scales all the time and eat not regular or even enough. So get the cals back up like everyones is saying and you’ll soon see a differance ;-)….
