What you get fed in nutritional terms is usually what you look like, feel like and move like.
What you get fed in the mind shapes our current state and future.
If we are written off in school or don’t get the help we need, then we tend to switch off and get put off learning full stop. School and learning becomes the last thing we want to do.
If we see a careers officer and they are negative about our future, then we tend to believe it and accept that bright future we dreamed about as kids, has disappeared because the system doesn’t work for us.
If we start a job, and it doesn’t stimulate our minds, we get caught in a situation when we loathe going to work, and the thoughts of advancement doesn’t even enter our minds and we get stuck in a rut.
If we try to get fit and healthy, then our first attempt is at a gym that never helps us, then we get fed up and never go despite being on a straightjacket of a contract that keeps us paying for 12-18 months. We are unlikely to return after this deeply negative experience.
We try to eat healthy but we are offered many faddy or shake diets that are heavily marketed, that initially take weight off us, but we always end up piling the weight back on and a lot more too. Losing weight becomes associated with misery and we aren’t confident enough to give it endless attempts as we are constantly let down.
All of this shows examples of us listening and being offered negative solutions to what we really want. Not one of these situations give us hope and get us thinking that we are doomed to failure in everything we do.
This is why we need to programme ourselves differently. Seeking out tried and tested ways of getting healthy through people who have track records in getting the job done and listen to your needs, how to get a better job through a more attractive way of learning through people who actually listen, make sure your friends support you and never put you off, if not seek new people to hang out with as they aren’t your friends.
Getting a better “newsfeed” everyday is vital, if we all listened to the news each day, then we would all think it was the end of the world, and there’s no point in doing anything positive with our lives.
Start right now by telling yourself you deserve the best, you deserve to find the best way to do things, you deserve the same opportunities as “other people” get.
It all starts with what we tell ourselves internally every day, which influences we choose to listen to, and this makes us approach every challenge in a completely different way much more likely to succeed.
