Monday, 22nd July

Many of you were on a course to live a life with a very bad back and all of the restrictions that involves in life.

Many of you thought a hip replacement in life would ruin your life, and a lifetime of pain awaited.

Some of you thought a life of struggling with your mind would be you forever.

Some of you imagined that carrying around a few more stone of body fat than you need would limit your life in so many ways.

Then it clicked for you, you got the exercise part, and you realised that you can’t do the exercise part without the eating right part.

Once you did this, then your life started to look up. When you did this over the long term, then your life started to really change.

When you finally got fit, agile and able to do anything, your whole outlook in life changed. You won’t accept mediocrity anymore, you have much more ambition and your future looks very bright, full of hope and possibility.

Keeping doing the things and daily habits that changes your future is vital, and retaining the passion to keep on doing more than you need to do in life is your secret source of hope and happiness for the future.

For those of you who have had great success, never relent and never take for granted your new found health and happiness. Be always willing to do more, and always make that link between exercise and happiness.

For those of you trying to get great success, it’s all about grinding it out, showing up no matter what and giving it time, you will get there but you need to show grit and determination. Anything in life that’s worth getting takes a lot of hard work.

Imagine how great your life is with exercise and eating right, but always remind yourself how it could have/could turn out to be if you spend more time on the settee again and eating rubbish. Your choice.

Showing up with a great attitude gets you a long way in life. Tell your kids and grandkids that right now, it is so valuable for your happiness, so vital if you want to climb any ladder in life, and people will want to help you.

If someone asks more out of you, they are not always in pain in the neck and out for something for nothing. They usually value you because you are capable of doing more and you have great ability at something.

Some people are unscrupulous and employers who give zero hour contracts out make me puke and they are pure charlatans who deserve not to be around for long. Treat your employees well and you have an ever better business, great people deserve all of your help.

I find the more you do for genuine people though, the more long term value you are creating for them and one day they WILL help you.

I always want to help anyone who has a great attitude, because they are usually sincere, and desperate for a good outcome in life, and aspire to be more themselves.

Have you ever wanted to help someone with a poor attitude, who is ignorant and someone who wants something for nothing? Thought not, and this is why having an attitude of serving others gives you long term and valuable friendships and relationships that can literally last a lifetime.

Doing your best for others, even when sometimes you’re on your knees, and not wanting anything in return, makes you a very rich person because you have a ton of gratitude and most likely you love every day you live.

Opportunities often appear most when people remember how well you served them, how sincere you were to them, and they will be eager to return the favour at some time in the future, time and time it happens.

What you give, you get back and you leave the world in a better place.

Our gym success is wholly based on the great people who walk through the door each and every day. The culture we create takes a lot of work, and culture changes quickly too, this is why we defend it staunchly and constantly work on the dynamic that’s always changing but always fun to experience.

To the parents of the kids class tonight.

What a great bunch of kids they are. I commend Jamie Hawkins on bringing them on so much and they were an absolute pleasure to coach.

We packed a huge amount of stuff into the hour, and they worked heavily on their speed, balance, coordination and power, and came through with flying colours.

I firmly believe that every child should be exercising a few times a week, and with a live teacher there to watch them, it’s easy to correct technique and ways around a difficult exercise.

The rewards right now and in the future for children exercising are incredible and can literally change their futures in a hugely positive way, learning skills now that will give them a strong and solid foundation for the future.

When kids have encouragement, they tend to out-perform, build self-confidence and become much more assured in what they do physically. Those kids all get on really well despite coming from different schools and having completely different personalities. This is so vital now in primary school, when they go to big school and when they are adults.

There is a big thing called physical literacy, and we teach this each and every session, encouraging fresh improvements every time.

Thanks again for bringing them, as they are having a very positive impact on the gym. I know Jamie is looking forward to seeing them again next wednesday!

Tuesday, 16th July

There’s a million little things I won’t let beat me in my moving forward in life. Some are thrown at us each and every day.

I won’t let a warm day throw me off course, I may do a little less that day but I still put in a good shift in whatever I do. I see warmer days as just another test, and they separate those who want it more and the who use any excuse not to do their best.

I won’t let negativity slow me down. The higher you go in life, the more people want to chop you down. Developing the resilience to not worry about any negative comments is vital, so you eventually become capable of not even hearing anyone of trying to push you off course.

I won’t let anyone let my standards drop. If you drop your standards and it somehow becomes “acceptable”, then a lower performance becomes acceptable too, and is the start of a long, slippery slope that doesn’t end well. Your day is full of performances where you are judged and you get results from. The pride you feel in doing your best must always be at the forefront of your mind.

I won’t let anyone stop me dreaming big. My ambitions take a lot of work, a lot of sacrifices and a lot of getting up early in the mornings to make it happen. If you aren’t prepared to do the work and get up early to make time for it, then your dreams will never become a reality-your choice and no compromises.

What challenges are you letting stop your progress today, and which ones are you rising to and actually thriving on? Your choices shape your future, your self-esteem, your sense of fulfilment, and happiness.

Monday, 15th July

You can overcome any problem.

I see people every day and some are determined to get better, work bit by bit, and inch their way forward knowing that over time, they will change their circumstances for the better. These are the ones who achieve spectacular things by doing the unglamorous work but do it relentlessly.

Some though will put up barriers to their health, and convince themselves that because “my shoulder, my knee, my back” is bad, then they cannot do a thing to help themselves.

It’s easier sometimes to put your chances of great health into the hands of luck, of somehow getting a magical appointment that will somehow make things “okay” again.

The facts are though that once you change your thoughts, your entire world changes.

Whatever struggles you have right now, they will be eased and eventually disappear if you start right now, and keep working positively to what you deeply desire.

Looking after yourself inside and out is the only way, its a day by day process, week by week and the more work you do, the more your body and mind will be rewarded.

Believing in yourself and having faith in your abilities will be your greatest masterstroke. Don’t wait for anyone else to do things for you, at the end of the day, it’s going to be down to you.

Every situation has potential in it, good or bad, and each day will test you, play games with your mind and will try to put you off track.

Those who stay with their programme, always show up no matter what, never get distracted are the ones who achieve the most over time.

No secret formula, no magic powders and no gimmicks, it’s all down to you and how much stick you really have in you.
