Wednesday, 4th September

Many of you know I listen to books relentlessly and a couple of recent books emphasise what we want to achieve at the gym. We are all about culture, and operating as a team, helping each other and working together for a great purpose.
The old saying goes you can go fast on your own, but you will go much further together.
Sam Sheridan in the Fighters mind taks about the great champions from Boxing, MMA, Wrestling and how their mind works. He says the one great asset these champions have in common is humility and a willingness to keep on learning relentlessly, a big ego will get you knocked out. NOBODY knows enough, being a great champion comes with being a great student.
Pep Guardiola toughest job was bringing big egos together and creating great teams at Barcelona B, Barcelona, Bayern and now at Man City.
Constructing a champion team is super tough, and you only want people onboard who are going to work with your team for the greater purpose.
He has no problem getting rid of people who are selfish and work against what what he is trying to achieve. He wants to leave a legacy at all those clubs, and culture and positivity are everything.
He relentlessly finds out about the qualities of his players, both on and off his pitch. All are great players he finds but if they have no humility, they don’t want to keep learning relentlessly, and they don’t want to put the team first, he usually has no place for them.
In Legacy by James Kerr about the success of the All Blacks, he talks about the best often legendary players in the team often sweeping the changing rooms after a game. Clearly, no egos, and the team comes first.
Being a coach is often a tough job, especially if you committed to getting the best out of every single person every day. A culture of learning, being humble no matter what success you have had in the past or are having now is absolutely vital.
Our gym’s development is racing ahead all the time with multiple personalities onboard at any one time. We are committed to leading from the front, telling everyone the truth and exactly how it is, teaching humility and a strong work ethic, treating every single person the same, and creating the next batch of success stories that will ultimately create another great foundation for our gym.

Monday 2nd September

Why my charge starts today, and nothing gets left in the tank.

Monday means all out effort for me, it means passion ,it means excitement and it means going out on an all out crusade.

Today, new workouts were filmed for later in the week, and half of it has already being edited already. NOTHING GETS IN THE WAY.

I know all of you want big things from me, and we aren’t going to perform a “blip”, you constantly want new GOOD stuff and I’m not going to let you down.

I don’t want to let yourself down, I want you to show up and really get stuck in. I never want you to be put off from doing your best, from reaching for more, from asking more questions and from being more ambitious.

To get things done, you have to get your head down, give yourself uninterrupted time when you can channel huge efforts in a short amount of time.

Nothing should get in the way of your training because it’s so key to the rest of your life. If you aren’t fit and full of energy, then all those people relying on you won’t have all that great help you’re used to giving them simple as that. Life is demanding, life is precious, life needs to be healthy and energetic full stop, don’t kid yourself otherwise.

I’ve discovered a huge swell of energy right now because all I’m thinking about is how we as a gym can infect you with enough energy to get more great performances out of you this week.

Tomorrow is Tuesday, make sure you hit it like a train.
