Friday, 21st December

It looks as if the world didn’t in fact end today, although there are still a few hours to go!

It hasn’t been the end of the world for most people i train this year if they have made a lot of mistakes in their diet and exercising either!

Through explaining to everyone i train that they don’t have to totally blow their diet if they go off the rails now and again, this has resulted in my largest number of people training right up to the last friday before christmas. Not only that but we have record numbers scheduled to train christmas eve, the gym in burry port will see a surprising number on christmas day and especially boxing day!

The message really seemed to have worked better than ever before this year, and i would like to thank everyone for continuing to show so much dedication right up until the end of the year. The encouraging fact is that these are the people who would normally throw the towel in during early december.

So after persuading everyone to train all the way up to christmas or more or less, its heartening now to already have people tell me already how much better they are feeling in themselves, how much money they are saving by not buying all of the junk food that they normally do, how much they are saving by not buying sometimes vast quantities of alcohol etc etc, and how great its going to be NOT to wear the baggy jumpers at this time of year, because most are keen to show their new found bodies!!

I am hearing better sleeping experiences, and a wide variety of people are reporting one of their best measurements THIS WEEK!! We all try not to put on much in december, but to actually lose quite a lot of body fat and shave off 3 inches off your waist is sensational. Again, i have to say that this a big benefit of being measured regularly!

Thanks again for the huge effort, and let’s see what happens next week!!!!!!!

The individual that you see when you first start an exercise programme is always a reflection of that person’s patterns of action, in other words their habits, the things they do day in day out without even thinking about them.

In order to completely change and tranform yourself to a better you, to a leaner, stronger and fitter you, its obvious and indeed critical that those everyday habits absolutely need to change.

The bad habits are always going to be viewed as the things that hold you back, they stop you from moving forward and achieving long term success.

If you are looking for a higher quality of life, then you had better start adopting a lot better and higher quality habits in your daily life.

The first way to do this is to recognise your lowest level habit, i am talking about the habit that drags you down the most, the one that makes you put on weight or the habit that stops you training regularly, or the habit that makes you think negatively!!!

This bad and ultimately negative habit needs to be transformed into a much more positive pattern of action!!

You will find that as your standard gets higher and higher, it will be a case of continuously raising your standards.

For example, if you currently eat badly 7 days a week, then suddenly eating well 3 days a week would have a big difference to your body.

Once you made that change, you would find that you would want to improve again. The target may well go up to eating well 6 days a week, creating another massive difference. The goals would go higher and higher, depending on what standard of life you want to achieve!! The habits would need to change upwards accordingly.

Set your stall out and make that standard in life as high as you can!!!

The power of snacking

Snacks are often an underrated part of your daily diet.

If you don’t snack, then you are likely to be underpowered in your workouts. This is bad news if you are interested in putting in good performances on a daily basis.

If you don’t snack, then the possibility of over-eating at traditional eating times goes way up. How many times have you not eaten from lunch time until evening time and then gone mad before your meal you had to make because you simply couldn’t wait for your main food!!

The problem is that when you are so hungry, you are likely to grab ANYTHING you can get your hands on, and most of the time whatever’s closest to hand in the fridge!

A cheese sandwich smash and grab is not unusual and can make you totally over eat the main meal. This all means a calorie avalanche at your last meal of the day and when you think about it, this is exactly the time when you are LEAST ACTIVE.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that when you over stuff yourself and don’t move around much, then this would be a prime time to put on body fat, exactly what we are not looking for!!!

If you took the time to snack, you would be eating in between major meals, instead of leaving up to six hours in between meals.

When you snack, this also stabilises blood sugar levels which stop the urge to eat in excess, and is great for avoiding the onset of diabetes, because you won’t have the wild blood sugar variations.

When you snack, you putting a constant energy supply into your body, and since hopefully exercise is a big part of your life, then a good energy supply is obviously vital! This will get you more fired up for workouts and you are likely to last much longer too!

This also encourages you to boost your metabolism, a constant supply of food makes your body think that it had better burn calories a bit quicker, raising your metabolic rate. Eating 5-6 times a day is far more efficient for your body, all you are doing is eating in smaller quantities come meal time, and spreading your food consumption out a lot further than trying to consume 3 huge meals, which doesn’t do a lot of good to your digestive system, that’s for sure.

See your food as fuel, and this will help your body become a furnace when it comes to fat-burning. When you throw in top quality workouts on top, then you have the perfect situation for getting into your best physical condition.

Every time you exercise, see it as if you are looking after your body.

Every time you eat good natural food, see it as you are giving your body its best possible care and you’re healing it every day from life’s stresses. Your body needs protecting as well as it needs energising!

The process of looking after your body shouldn’t be seen as a hardship at all. If you view your training as a treat, a chance for you to have YOU time, then its going to be a lot more attractive.

Talking about attractive, that’s exactly what’s going to happen to you if you carry on training hard and eating well.

Anyone who looks slimmer, stronger and fitter, will automatically look more attractive. There is a glow about anyone who eats right and trains well, they give you a far better vibe than someone who idles their time away in a pub every night for example. Being a slob never did anything positive for anyone!!!

If you eat fresh natural food every day, then you know its going to being you a healthy amount of body fat on your body, its going to bring you more energy and therefore much more positivity in your attitude, don’t forget your attitude is key when you embark on your health and fitness programme, theres always a million reasons not to exercise if you are negative, that’s what we are trying to avoid-negativity!!

The difference between feeling positive and negative about life WILL make the difference between being successful and mediocre with your health and fitness results across the board.

If you survive on takeaways, ready meals and alcohol most days, then you know for sure that your body is not going to respond very well in terms of benefits, in fact there will be a whole lot of negatives that will fill your life, and lets face it, theres nobody if they are truthful wants to overweight, have bad skin, no energy and a low physical performance.

Life is there for living as the saying goes, so  cut the negativity out of your life and go shopping for the right foods right now, and bin the foods that are going to bring negativity in your life into a big black bag right now!!!

Its only then you can move forward!

January 14th 2011

Negativity is all around us especially in a tough economy and there’s not much money around. The trick is to either let it bury you so you become as negative as everyone else, or you use it as a tool to burst out of the quicksand you may be in right now.

The question is will you listen to the doom and gloom merchants about your progress, or you will shut them off from your life and concentrate on all your goals and ambitions.

Try and work out the issues that distract you from getting to where you want to be, and then you need to work out ways on how to eliminate them. Of course you can’t eliminate your husband, wife, family and work colleagues rom your life. Start by making a list of the people who distract or even stop you from reaching your goals, and list those who help you reach where you want to be.

Then you need to go back over old ground and start keeping records on your food again over 7 days. There have been a lot of studies showing that those individuals who record in detail everything they eat and drink periodically, say once a month or 6 weeks, the more successful they were in their fat loss goals for example.

You can do the same thing with your exercise, i go on about all the time the importance of trying to make progress in your training, are your numbers going up, sideways or down? Is your strength going up or down, is your endurance better and how’s your enthusiasm for training? All valid indicators that will determine how well you’re really doing, keep a close eye on all of these, you don’t need to do it every week but once a month will be very valuable if progress is important to you!

Another powerful way to make sure you’re successul is to make your private goals and ambitions public, this makes the whole thing more real and you will find that a lot of people are going to be supportive. They will know you’re on a stricter eating plan and not offer or make you high calorie meals/snacks, maybe someone will ofer to come and exercise with you and push you harder when they are out with you on a run or example.

When you make your goals public, you put your reputation on your line and you are showing the world that you can really make this thing happen. You may get some negativity but as we said, we need to ignore all that “noise” and concentrate on those who are going to help you get where you want to be. Its not tunnel vision, its called doing everything in your power to feel and look your best!!!!

As long as you use the number one secret-consistency, then you should advance very quickly!!!
