Most New Year resolutions never last past Valentines day, some last just days.

It takes a change in mindset, and choosing a path to create long lasting change for both your body and mind.

If you have hit rock bottom, that’s sometimes the best place to be because you are really ready to change, and immerse yourself into a healthy lifestyle.

You need a plan that challenges yourself and takes you to the next level continuously. Most people try to do it their own way, but lack direction after a couple of weeks on how to keep improving, despite endless information out there that only confuses people more.

You must know by now that doing a little treadmill and bike occasionally doesn’t create real change for your body, even worse signing a contract to a gym where nobody ever helps you, and hopes you never show up.

You need to accept there is a better way and that includes making training to get stronger the foundation of what you do. This will change your body shape above anything else.

Set realistic expectations, aim to be the best you can be, don’t worry what you were like when you are 18 or 21, being a great version of yourself at 50 is going to be an exciting challenge, and entirely within your capability, and there’s every chance you will look better than ever.

Eat real food, “powder” as meals is not only unsustainable and dangerous, it’s downright miserable and you know it. Be creative with your meals and don’t buy rubbish into your house into the first place.

Occasional treats are great but that’s no reason to bring multipack versions of anything into your home, constantly leading you into temptation. You WILL eat junk if it’s there.

Strive to get just a little bit better every week, choose healthy habits 80% of the time and a rewarding healthy lifestyle will stick if you keep giving it a chance.

Improving your body means you have trained with intelligence and along the way your mind has got stronger too.

Before you started training, you probably weren’t thinking as strongly as you do now. You go after things more intensely now and your will to succeed is much greater than it used to be.

You have to accept though that not everyone will be pleased with new successes. Some people will try to keep you pigeon-holed and not like the way you suddenly have become a lot more ambitious in everything you do.

Leaving the past behind is tough but sometimes you have to leave behind those negative influences who try their best to hold you back, are pleased you succeed but secretly hope you don’t succeed “too much”.

This can be uncomfortable at first but anyone who isn’t really happy with your success 100% isn’t really your true friend. Once you leave behind negative influences, you will find you will be free to achieve even greater things, you won’t have to answer to anyone else and you will have nothing holding you back.

We always put our members first and positivity and encouragement are number one in creating the right environment. Those with negative viewpoints don’t survive with us and we are lucky to have so many great encouraging members who only want the best for others.

Stay strong, realise your ambitions will only grow and the people you need in your life are the ones that support the ambitions.

Amazing day at the gym today, especially with the break in the weather, hazy sunshine and the whole area looked magically better.

Wherever you are in the world, the day looks a whole lot better with the sun out!!People’s attitudes were sunnier too, i noticed the difference in shops, at the gym and out and about on the hill. It really makes that big a difference.

If you look at it rationally though, our lives haven’t changed a bit since yesterday or at least for most people. The government is still the same, the council still the same, our relationships the same, our friends still the same yet we are so much brighter today.

It shows the power of changing our state of mind, and using triggers to do so.

The sun and warmer air will have done it today, but exercise and eating right does it every day if we give it a proper chance. Rosemary Thomas, 73 years, told me this morning that she has so much more energy now every day, and would spend the rest of the day after training cleaning the house. That lady is ALWAYS on the go, and even she has seen a massive boost in her energy levels since she started training properly.

There are many triggers to change our state of mind but exercise is a guaranteed ever-present way to turn even the gloomiest of days into a productive, energy-rich and positive day.

Thursday, 9th November

Once we realised the sun did come up again after President Trump’s win, we start to realise that relying on an election result, doesn’t change a whole lot in our immediate lives. Never rely on one person or organisation to tell you what’s possible and what’s not. History backs us up on this time after time.

No government goes out of their way to help us, and we realise the candidates have big flaws just like the rest of us.

The old saying that 90% of what we worry about never happens, and the other 10% we can’t do nothing about anyway, has never been more true.

The UK general election, Brexit, US election, sports protests on human rights in the states (whatever your views) has shown that the public has been in protest mode for some time, and most are not willing to accept what the establishment has dished out for the last 40 years or more.

I hear more and more of people who aren’t willing to accept frozen food in chain restaurants, going to a gym and nobody ever helping you, management in the workplace not appreciating your efforts and opinion, there is strong evidence on more people in Wales launching their own business, some of you launched your own charity out of nothing, helped thousands and counting, because the system wouldn’t help you (Active for Autism-Tom Shaw) etc.

When my father started our gym in 1957, everyone thought he was mad, some doctors for years even claimed weight training was dangerous. Making your own path where nobody has gone before is risky and tests your self-belief to the limit, many will even laugh at you, but your have to follow your heart and passion, and see it through knowing deep down you are doing it for the right reasons, and you are aiming to creating an overwhelmingly positive impact in people’s lives.

Things are changing fast and i commend many of you on your independence of thought and self-belief that you can succeed and never accept the status quo any more. Sometimes, being a non-conformist is amazing because it creates breakthrough change that nobody thought possible apart from YOU.

When you are feeling rebellion, taking control of your health will transform you to a whole new level, help you attain amazing life long dreams in your life, and develop the sustainable energy and drive to create a new history for yourself.

What makes a far impact in our lives is our opportunity to change our own lives for the better, no government can take that away. If you aren’t feeling well physically, and struggling mentally as a result, then starting cautiously on a health and fitness programme will become one of your greatest achievements.

Exercise is like a journey that has ups and downs but the overall destination is incredible and strong foundations will be built, and your wonderful feeling of wellbeing along the way will positively impact all of those around you that are most important.
