Tuesday, 18th December

Be very careful of the story you tell yourself.

If you tell yourself you aren’t worthy of happiness, then despite initial success, you will do anything you can to self-sabotage that success. Sounds stupid but it’s true.

I went through many stages and years when I didn’t believe I was worthy of any success, and if I was, it wouldn’t last long. After all, there were plenty of people who wrote me off, often telling me straight to my face that this fitness things was a “fad” and would never last. I wouldn’t be writing this now if I accepted their opinion.

Some people got visibly upset at me still persevering, still being around and still picking up clients only made their jobs worse.

I faced multiple snide remarks when I was out, and blatant rudeness and laughter at me trying to earn a living at this. The more I rose, the more laughter and bitterness I heard and felt.

The strategy that helped me most was not to put myself in situations that I would face baseless, often nasty and upsetting criticism.

If I was going to go out on a Saturday and inevitably bump into so called “friends”, who would continually ask difficult and bitter questions about my career choice, then nights out would soon become a misery.

The choice to remove myself out of these situations soon paid dividends. I would soon concentrate on my work ahead, and doing my best for people, they would be my judge, and NOT people who only wanted me to fail.

My internal story changed. No longer was negativity hitting me like a train every day, I filled myself with hope and hard work, and seeing where it would lead.

So at our gym, you haven’t got one person who hates your success, you only have people who want to give you a leg up, and we have built our culture entirely on that. You have a huge HEADSTART!!!

You haven’t got an army of people who doesn’t want you to fail, and I want you to LOVE your success, then build on it some more, because I know deep down what you can really do, and the deep pride that will give you affecting all areas of your life in a massively positive way.

I want you to know that we are very much behind you, and strongly encourage you all to live your own success story, keep avoiding the negativity that is always around, pick your company very carefully, and never stop and enjoy your ride and the great places it will surely take you.

Monday, December 17th

It’s a fact that when you think of certain people in the gym who are always ultra-positive in the gym, you want to be around them more, to soak up the good vibes. We are very fortunate to have many of these, and it becomes infectious.

These people only offer solutions to problems, and offer to help you out anytime. What would it take you to become the most positive person you know? We all need work on this and it’s something for all of us to think about.

First proper week of the new programme starts tomorrow. Are you going to try coasting it or are you going to build on everything you have done this year, and finish the year on top of the world and feeling amazing full of pride?

It’s a choice and YOU are control of it.

You have been given these gifts that you are in good physical shape and can show up to our gym regularly, so even more is expected of you. Don’t settle for where you are, aim higher and reach for more within yourself.

Everything exciting happens when you leave your comfort zone. We all like doing the same thing because it doesn’t take much thought.

The times we have to make what we do better scares us sometimes, but ultimately takes us to a new level of fulfilment, pride  and satisfaction deep within us.

These hard choices give us an EASY life.

If you make easy choices, and don’t get anything done or have given up on yourself, then prepare for a HARD life.

The more you invest in your health and anything else in life, you get it back in spades.

Last week before Christmas, what’s your choices looking like?

Thursday, December 13th

Thanks for the heroic efforts this week, never let the fire go out, because once it goes out, it can go out for a long time, in ALL WALKS OF LIFE.

I know those who read this have fire in you, but if you are not using all your ability and weapons and not showing up, life can pass you by and before you know it, you will be one of those reflecting on “past glories”.

Don’t be the one who says “do you remember the time I used to be good at exercise”? People may pretend to sympathise with you but secretly say “here we go again behind you back.

Live your life in the past and you see your life through rose-tinted spectacles, at the same time glancing down in regret at leaving those great times and feelings disappear.

Nobody can do it for you. You either buy in as much natural food in the house to keep energising and HEALING your body, or you are past caring, don’t give a damn and keep buying processed, sugary and fatty foods into the house.

Buy rubbish, feel rubbish-Your choice.

How big is the fight in you? How big are those feelings of pride you have? You are either right in the mix at the gym, improving very quickly every week or you are sitting on the sidelines in life full of regret, and telling yourself a “story” that is untrue about you not being good enough anymore.

Re-light your fire, but it only gets started through exercise.

December 11th

Outstanding effort from everyone this morning and tonight. What a great start to Emma Williams‘ class too, great effort from all of you.

If you want one of the TRUE secrets of success, then its the showing up consistently and giving it everything less than TWO weeks before Christmas.

The GRIT you are showing right now makes you a champion, and a year round on at that. Getting in shape isn’t a month here, month there type of effort, it’s putting it all together and making it a TRUE PART of your everyday life.

It’s not about getting in shape AFTER Christmas and doing what everyone else thinks, and falling for all sorts of fads that promise wonders in 2 weeks, it’s about grinding it out the RIGHT way all year long.

You are all INDIVIDUALS who have your own opinions and characters and you are grabbing your big opportunities RIGHT NOW, and we are all proud of you for doing it.

The intensity is still great at the gym, it’s still fierce and there is still deep desire to do great things.

Get your MIND strong by keeping your body strong. Can’t do one without the other!!!!

December 9th

I was 18 years old and I wanted, thought I deserved 2 weeks off training because so many people I knew were dong it.

This had never happened before, but everyone said I should do it. After all, they were too.

Gyms in those days were closed for 2 weeks for Christmas (apart from ours when we were open most of the time), one in particular was closed for 3 weeks, when members were encouraged to go out drinking every day, and to eat rubbish in copious amounts and you would be a true “hero” if you did. Treat “Cheat day” as EVERY DAY.

The less exercise the better, black jumpers and leather jackets could do “wonders”.

So the first exercise run after Christmas came.

My breath started off hard to catch, then impossible.

I had to walk up the hills I normally ran up, and my face was purple coming back. I felt terrible all night after it, I couldn’t move the next day and my wheeling was terrible in every session for a few days. A soul destroying experience.

That Christmas brought my asthma back in a big way. It was deeply unpleasant and I had to find an emergency pump.

This I promised myself would be my LAST Christmas when I did nothing. I would at least do a run, and I would least make an effort to not be an absolute pig every day.

This Christmas, although you may think you are a hero posting on social media all the chocolate you continuously eat, all the alcohol you throw down, it may be a better strategy to have some of what you fancy, but still put in the hard yards at the gym right up to Christmas, so you have none of the associated breathing problems, none of the colds and flu’s the headache companies hope you have so they can make more money out of you.

Keep your immune system strong, keep fit and you will be a LOT MORE BENEFIT to your family and all those closest to you.

Let’s aim for TWO more Huge weeks at the gym and still feel amazing.
