The “magic formula” for getting results is always a simple one, but requires honesty.

Are you showing up for your workout at least 3 times a week? I always like to talk about creating a “chain”. Put a X in your calendar EVERY time you train. If you haven’t got 3 X’s a week on there regularly, you are not going to get what you want out of any programme.

2. Use a simple formula for eating. If you eat healthy 80% of the time, then great things will happen for you. Plan your food, avoid stopping in convenience shops/petrol stations for your snacks/meals. You can have the occasional treat, but your body will be nourished with the nutrients you need on a consistent basis. You will feel energetic and you your sense of wellbeing will be high.

3. Drink more water. The most underrated of habits. If you drink throughout the day, then you will feel better, your body will function a lot better full stop, and your energy levels will be high all day long.

4. Sleep better. If you are exercising well, chances are your sleep will improve greatly. Your body only improves in your sleep, when you have had chance to rest. Getting to bed earlier means you get up earlier and you get more done with your day.

5. Hang out with positive people. Anyone who drags your confidence down regularly is not your friend. Anyone who doesn’t want you to succeed is not worth bothering with. Your true friends will want the best for you.

This is a simple checklist that will transform everything in your life. Change one of these at a time until it sticks and you feel comfortable with it. Tell yourself there’s no going back this time.

They say wisdom comes with age, and we need to learn lessons from our senior members.

“If i knew then what i know now” is a statement many of us have made, and we hear this mostly off senior members because they have most experience of life.

All of those senior members have realised through personal experience that getting your health right is vital.

How about taking that advice right now?

The best advice i have ever had off people with more money than they would ever need, is that HEALTH comes first. Anyone who has experienced ill health would swap all that money for just being healthy and out of pain again, i have heard this so many times that it really hit home a long time ago.

Learning to act on great life-changing advice at the precise moment you hear it is a valuable habit, so you never forget it.

So you maybe 71, 51, or 21, but heeding this advice will literally change your life. Treating your body with care and attention is the number one thing you should do, and sets the foundation for everything you want to achieve.

When you are healthy, you have much more energy so you can do more things for yourself, and just as importantly for others. Getting healthy is the least selfish thing you can do, you will always be there for others, you will get much more done and you can contribute to society much more.

Don’t waste another day, don’t play games with your health, treat your body with respect and use your healthy body to take you anywhere you want to go, and to anything you want to achieve.

Tuesday, 13th December

Rage against the dying of the light was Dylan Thomas’ message i remember the most from school, and i didn’t quite understand it until i started to get older myself, and although i hope i’m a long way off dying, i want to make the most out of every day because we all have a limited amount left.

Every day i get home from the gym full of adrenalin, full of energy and positivity and i have made it a habit to seize that mindset and great mood to set up new things that will progress us as a gym, to serve you better, to get better as a coach and to do these things without caring what others think.

We are all potentially held back by those who don’t want us to succeed, luckily i left those people a long time ago and none of us should tolerate negativity and basically crap in our lives!

So those great moods you must get at least part of your day, i urge you to take action to get better, to sever better, to get more out of yourself even when the temptations of christmas are looming large.

I really believe once you get to the mindset that you can outwork anyone, you can out help anyone, you can create a better life for others and you can be MORE CONSISTENT at it than anyone else, no matter, then great things are coming your way.

Rage against the dying of the light, cause a ruckus every day, do those things that you are unsure of or you don’t do because so and so might say something negative.

Don’t be held prisoner in chasing down your dreams, you are in control of your efforts, have the courage to unleash them each and every day. Remember each and every day is a golden opportunity, treat them like that and everything changes for you.

Amazing day at the gym today, especially with the break in the weather, hazy sunshine and the whole area looked magically better.

Wherever you are in the world, the day looks a whole lot better with the sun out!!People’s attitudes were sunnier too, i noticed the difference in shops, at the gym and out and about on the hill. It really makes that big a difference.

If you look at it rationally though, our lives haven’t changed a bit since yesterday or at least for most people. The government is still the same, the council still the same, our relationships the same, our friends still the same yet we are so much brighter today.

It shows the power of changing our state of mind, and using triggers to do so.

The sun and warmer air will have done it today, but exercise and eating right does it every day if we give it a proper chance. Rosemary Thomas, 73 years, told me this morning that she has so much more energy now every day, and would spend the rest of the day after training cleaning the house. That lady is ALWAYS on the go, and even she has seen a massive boost in her energy levels since she started training properly.

There are many triggers to change our state of mind but exercise is a guaranteed ever-present way to turn even the gloomiest of days into a productive, energy-rich and positive day.

When someone asks your opinion on whether to take on a new challenge, and i’m betting you are a well meaning individual, who only wants the best for people, your opinion is usually i would bet “to go for for it”, “to make yourself happy”, “to go and make a better future”.

Our kids are in a school Christmas play today, we wish them all the best, to enjoy the occasion and to savour the day. If they want to try new activities, we fully support them and want them to have a great experience out of it.

When it comes to ourselves, most of us short-change ourselves on our decisions because we often think “we aren’t good enough or our time has somehow passed to do it”. When opportunities come up, quite often we debate them heavily and not often back ourselves, the odds are against us we think and it would be “safer” to stay as we are.

There has never been a more dangerous time to stay the same. We all must grow to improve, we must embrace change fully or life never improves for us, however uncomfortable that change may be.

To make the most of opportunities, we must start to take them without questioning them so much, we must learn to have trust in what we are doing more, we must learn to trust the process more, we must learn to have patience that although the process is often longer than we hoped for, we WILL get there no matter whatever your goals in life, and all of this change is for the better creating an even better future.
