Friday, 7th April
What’s your friday story look like? It’s fun to have a drink in the sun on a friday. I used to run sandy water park every friday whilst the Sandpiper used to be rammed with teachers and others celebrating friday and end of work.
Like being in school though and in work, you have to get through the work your body NEEDS first. Don’t you feel better when you exercise? I am guessing many of you, the trick is prioritising it in your day before the fun begins, or you really haven’t earned it at all.
If you don’t put it in, then your body will deteriorate and quickly. That youthful energy and drive will disappear into low expectations and a mindset of where is the next drink coming from.
Where you proudly used to go shopping for clothes, and anything would fit, now you may be choosing clothes that “hide” things because they are so loose, and you may be sticking to the darkest of colours to wear.
Where is that pride, youthful excitement and drive to be anything you wanted to be? 18 year old energy doesn’t last forever if you don’t work on it, but EVEN MORE energy CAN be created at 50 years of age IF you give your body the work it deserves, it wants to be active, it wants to functioning at its full capacity again, it wants most importantly to feel alive again.
Sunday, 26th March
If this weather doesn’t give you the kickstart to get more active, then you need to have a look at yourself.
Sun on your back means you are being actively encouraged to get out and about and show what your body was meant to do.
No excuse now to shiver indoors, and waste yet more time watching rubbish on TV that will only make you more miserable, more inactive. Superior knowledge of a reality programme gets you nowhere near where you really want to be in your life, unless it’s your chosen subject on Mastermind.
If you get off your behind right now, get down the harbour, beach, mountain-anywhere that looks amazing, then i guarantee that 10 minutes later you feel better, you will feel more hopeful, you will wonder why you didn’t do it earlier, and why you waited to get going in the first place.
Most of the time we worry about wind in our faces, how cold and wet it is, how dark it is, so the time is right now to seize the moment and realise we have everything working on our side for a change.
Please don’t contemplate it, don’t discuss it too much, no need to have a meeting about whether you should do it or not, just take action right now and DO IT no questions asked!!!
Friday, 10th March
We all look for changes in our state of mind. If that wasn’t the case, there would be no queue’s for coffee shops first thing in the morning, there would no alcohol needed for Rugby international days like today, and there would no such thing as mind-altering drugs.
Most of us experience highs and lows in life, and how we deal with them is critical how we bounce back from them, or just never do.
Top performances in any area of life rely on getting “into the zone”. Crucial moments of performance are dictated by our mindset, and how we react to the pressure on us.
Apart from wanting to get fitter and healthier, mental health improvement is one of the big requests we get from many new members as life’s pressures can often get unmanageable, and without care and attention can only escalate.
Exercise is medicine is one of our big mantras, and the sooner you associate your workouts with feeling better, feeling more positive and creating more drive and ambition in your life the better.
Once your mind improves, then everything else in life will improve, but exercise is the kickstart everyone needs most days to clear your thoughts, and set about everything you want to achieve.
So everyone chases the “magic formula”, “state of mind” alterers of whatever you want to call it, but the biggest tried and tested formula exists by simply getting your body moving more, and allowing your body to deliver the feel good chemicals to get your mind much more positive, and get you feeling more powerful than you ever thought.

What’s your standard? It’s important to identify it, and look for a way to improve on it no matter how good your standard.
If your standard is one workout a week, you know you need to improve, even improving it to twice a week is a victory and stick at it.
If your standard is training regularly and then eating rubbish all the time, then can make instant improvements on this and you know it. Just drinking more water and eating breakfast will be a massive improvement, plus you will feel a lot better too.
Do you coast through your workouts sometimes, knowing you can give more?
Do you give in easily to those who say “Why bother with the gym tonight”?
Do you leave days off become weeks off? And somehow wonder where the time went?
Do you let negative influences turn you off from doing positive things with exercise and eating right?
Are you stuck at half marathon knowing with a bit more effort and consistency you can run the full marathon?
Do you spend 5-10 minutes at the end of each session to stretch off, making sure your body is injury-free and fully recovered?
Do you call in for a bottle of wine in the petrol station each night, nobody else knows so it doesn’t matter anyway?
Identify where you are right now, and then work on a way to get better, small changes done often will make all the difference and progress you to where you want to be.
