Jean makes a very good point in her comment in the last 24 hours. She says she needs the discipline of training with someone and going to a gym because she needs routine and wants to get the job done.
This is fair enough for her to say that and i know many of you will be in the same boat.
We always talk about the availability of outside workouts in this area in particular due to the natural beauty and coastal paths, beaches, hills, mountains etc.
If i take jean for example, nobody has trained more than her in the beautiful natural surroundings available, but is now perhaps going through a lack of motivation despite achieving great things in the natural environment.
Training with a partner as jean says does help heck of a lot and makes you turn up on time, and makes you schedule in workouts in the first place, so that side of things is really good. Training partners usually make you train a little harder too, theres nothing like pushing yourself further to achieve even better results.
The only downside of training partners is what happens when they don’t turn up? It would be easy to call off your gym visits then so make sure you’re disciplined to go on your own if necessary.
These are common situations that most people find or have found themselves in at one point or another in their training careers.
The bottom line is that nobody can make you train, nobody can make you lose weight, nobody can tell you a million times that you need to get fitter and suddenly you get off your behind and actually do it.
You have to WANT to do it yourself and setting yourself new goals is heck of a good start.
What about some new goals before christmas? I mentioned the other day that there is only 14 weeks left to christmas and how about trying to lose a stone and half before then? Two stone could be done if you really went for it, but a stone and a half is very realistic.
Its the tried and tested formula that will get you there. You NEED to get out there and train most days. You need to get a healthy shopping list in and actually eat good food most of the time. You need to drink more water and feel energised for the workouts to come. You need to get to bed earlier so you recover well from your workouts and you are well up for the training to come the next day.
This is the formula you’re all going to need to be in shape by christmas and thats a fact! Urgency is the key word right now so lets not put it off and say you’re going to start next week or even next month. By then, you will have forgotten why you wanted to lose weight in the first place. Its time for action, lets get training and lets get shopping for some good food!!!

All good points Keri, I am struggling and have been for some time now. I am trying to be enthuiastic about my training AGAIN, If I start training with Jen I think it will help me as we have trained together b4, walked thru snow in January to get to the gym, we dont let eachother down if we can help it. But I dont doubt that there will be days that we cant both make it to a workout, not the end of the world, if we can get there 80% of the time I’m sure it will be a benifit to us. I do want to DO IT, just not as much as I used to. I do enjoy training, just not as much as I used to, dont think I’ll ever be 100% FULL ON like b4, but EVERY LITTLE HELPS.
Hi there!!!
I know where you’re coming from Jean. The thought of “training” leaves me cold. We are not all the same, thank goodness, and one mans’ meat is anothers poison.
I told you about Zumba a couple of weeks ago. Try and find a session near you Jean, or come and join me in Llangennech next Tues and see if you like it. It is not “training” as such, but it IS getting out there and moving, sweating and having fun!!
It has got me off my bum and I am definitely feeling the benefit.
Hopefully it will motivate me to do more things, I prefer to cycle etc in the autumn as it’s not so hot. (Hot enough thanks to flushes, ha ha)
Text me if you fancy a go Jean. All shapes, ages and sizes and worth a look.
Keri………..been reading blog every day, it is so very good. Thank you.
Also glad you got over your salmon incident. You need to stand still to watch it cook, that’s the problem!!! Do you ever stand still?
Take care all.
HELLO CYRIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers, Debx
Thanx Debs, my friend Jen rang me the other night and I asked her if there was any Aerobic classes in Burry Port, can you beleive it, there are none!!!! She has 45 plus names and is trying to get a class in Burry Port, apparently there is a very good Aerobics teacher in x hands, they are trying to get her, we used to really enjoy Keri’s aerobic classes, goin back years now, Jen always asks me if I think he will start them up again, told her no. Will keep you in mind, pleased your enjoying, sure I would enjoy ZUMBA too, although I DO have 2 left feet and no coordination. Best wishes. xxxxxxxxxxxxx
thats a shame jean, a lack of classes in burry port is a travesty, i know debs enjoys zumba very much
will do classes sometime in the future as im planning a new building behind the gym over the next 5 years. personal training is going strong for me still thankully so will figure something out that will not interfere with that. have got some solid plans that will help large numbers out
That’s GGOD NEWS Keri, look forward to that, will tell Jen. There used to be so much more locally, apparently Gwyn had the last class down the Bacha in the old copperworks school, dont think he is there any longer tho. Have a great weekend
