We all remember people who have departed the world and wished we had more time with them. Some leave early, some leave very late, but we all want to have a good time when we are here.
Prince used to say you should party “like it’s 1999” and that’s a saying we have all practiced and full embraced at many times of our lives. Some of the fittest people I have trained are often the biggest partygoers because their energy knows no bounds.
Their workouts and the energy they gain from those workouts will power them through any day/night out that comes their way.
The problem is once your health goes into decline, you are in no real condition to party like that anymore because you don’t have the energy, mobility and even if you have the will, you don’t have the stamina anymore.
I love the saying “one life you have, go for it”, BUT you have to already have the health and fitness to full embrace that. Put your workouts in, eat well 80% of the time, get your rest, do your amazing parties if that what excites you at whatever age you are.
I have been on holidays with people who are really fit and they usually can do endless things on holidays, nothing is off limits because all that travelling, sightseeing and PARTYING is no problem.
Then I have been on holiday with those who have struggled with their fitness and health, and it’s a different holiday completely, and you have to adjust energy levels, distance covered accordingly out of respect.
I grew up in the 80’s when you were considered a hero if you hit the pub every night and ate pie and chips every day, and came home smelling of smoke. Sounded amazing at the time, but the diabetes, lung disease and blood pressure/heart disease wasn’t quite as much fun.
One life live it, you can have it all and still be “fun” if you have balance.
