I ran every morning of the the three nights I was away because I never want to lose the ability to do that. I am not writing this to be virtuous, I am doing it to remind you how your body works, and it will always act on what it gets used to doing/or not doing.

I have seen many people quit training and over time lose their physical ability to do that they took for granted as kids or young adults, that physical decline hurts our bodies but obviously mentally too and can destroy our confidence.

What I noticed as we get older we must keep challenging ourselves, not only to prove we can still do it, but to fight off physical and mental decline, and get out of the attitude of doing the bare minimum, we must strive to get better and that’s why regular workouts make progress guaranteed instead of the “I’m still hanging in on there” through infrequent and one off exercise efforts.

I love walking and running up steps, they make me feel as if I am still alive, I don’t like doing long boring runs much, I like to see things and there’s no better way to get your bearings in a city than an early morning run.

Never take for granted the fact you are physically very able right now, always work on yourself, do the things that may be a bit uncomfortable today but will pay off in a big way over time.

Your body WANTS to be tested, your mind wants to experience some doubt on whether you can get it done today, a little bit of uncertainty in your life can add excitement, purpose and massive health benefits.

Climb those steps, get up that mountain, slam those hills and do it all in the name of feeling good and letting yourself know you are still very much alive. Remind yourself you are either going forward or sliding backwards in life, make your choice.

Here’s a guaranteed way to feel stiff, achy and feel as if moving would be a struggle-DON’T MOVE MUCH, sit down a lot, and take out of your life anything that requires making a bit of an effort.

You will often find that monday sessions take you longer to get going, because the weekends maybe you don’t move much, you don’t do thaTmuch and you “put your feet up”.

The thought of getting going on a monday is often too challenging, but those of you who did get going are already feeling a LOT better by today Wednesday.

Putting your feet up and having a rest are GREAT as long as you have EARNED it by doing something worthwhile before that, every rest needs a good shift put in before it.

Not only is not moving much TERRIBLE for your joints and encourages you do do even less, it sends a chain reaction to your mental health too, which snowballs into the daily feeling you “can’t be bothered” every day which soon leads to an INACTIVE lifestyle, which can lead to you moaning about life much more, lead to you not wanting to have a go at all, and the famous “maybe someday” approach takes over.

Doing less and less in life is one of the biggest TRAPS you can fall for, use your body regularly or you will lose that capacity over time.

Doing something a bit different can upset a lot of people, and getting fit and healthy often is one of them.

You will get PLENTY of support at the gym, but put your conversations you have at the gym to the outside public, and things can turn out a lot differently.`

If you went to a cafe/restaurant/convenience store or supermarket and told people who needed to lose a fair bit of weight not to put those biscuits/crisps/white bread/ready meals/pastries etc into their basket as it’s probably the LEADING CAUSE of their ill health, their deteriorating mental health, their joint pain, their lack of energy and drive-THEN you are likely to be dismissed or even experience a high level of AGGRESSION.

Tell them to get to the gym on top of that and some may even swing for you if they had the energy.

We know that eating right and exercising helps us feel better, gets our mental health a LOT BETTER, and we know our long term quality of life will be very much enhanced-THIS IS SCIENTIFICALLY proven.

Whatever camp the person in hearing the advice, you will get supporters in BOTH camps, if you want to continue eating rubbish and put on lots of weight and the problems that come with it, then form a support group on Facebook-you will ENDLESS amount of ENABLERS because its the path of least resistance, the EASY option.

The hard option is to get fit and healthy, shed the weight, lose the joint pain and get your mind right-BUT WE PROVE IT CAN BE DONE DAILY.You have our UNWAVERING support-Love your body and love your mind just as much, take the path that makes so much sense, your family too will love you for it and admire you even more than they do now- see you at the gym!!!

Friday 17th March

Some parents have asked me to post this.

I hear a lot of stories about how some under 18’s friends train in other gyms (many parents message me too), and it’s clear some are doing more harm than good but it’s their choice.

What I do know is when anyone under 18 comes into our gym, they train properly, they are supervised and they are given the best professional route for success based on science and experience.

We have a proven track record off training youngsters from beginner right up to the highest level of sporting performance in elite sport, all done safely.

I do find sometimes that those who have an “idea” about training from the internet or training at other places come to us on what they  think  “should do”, quite often they don’t last the pace with us because we give them the right road, the right way to progress for their age and development, and if their ego’s get offended along the way, then so be it, we are acting in their very best interests at all times.

The facts are most gyms try to do things on the cheap by not having any supervision in most cases, and when they do how much experience do they really have? And is it their full time job even? Ask those questions. Would you send your child to maths lessons in school without a teacher?

The range of equipment and facilities at our gym is set up for proper athletic and training for professional sport, that’s why we have never bought machines which are irrelevant for high level performance.

We coach every session based on our high level of experience and knowledge and this will always set us apart from any other gym in most people’s opinion.

Also on “supplements”, there is no need for your under 18 to be taking any exotic supplements, totally unnecessary, Get them eating a good diet first and foremost, that will be their foundation and get them performing at a very high level and recovering well.

If you really think they should be taking supplements, then you have well and truly fallen for the marketing of products that often contain very little nutritional value, and for a teenager can often by detrimental for their health and development.

Any more questions, please message me privately or come down and speak to me.
