Monday 24th April 2023

At some stage in our lives, we all dream for a life without worry, where we can do what we want and we don’t want/need too much of a challenge in life.

We want to always read a book that is so good we can’t put down (rarely happens but great when it does), we want to eat rich food and not put weight on (rarely/never happens), we want to have one more hour or two in bed and still accomplish lots that day (rarely/never happens), and this is why we can’t always have exactly what we want or live life doing “what we feel” without it coming off the rails a bit.

We wouldn’t know happiness unless we had experienced sadness, we wouldn’t appreciate a pain free body unless we had experienced pain in our bodies through muscle strain/joint aches etc.

So the feeling of contentment, calmness, the ability to have a good night’s sleep, the absence of anxiety and stress all happens because of the WORK we put before it.

We know 100% that workouts crush stress and anxiety, we know that eating good food keeps us internally healthy and fights off disease too, along with workout out, and we know deep down that we would never achieve satisfaction, pride, and have an amazing feeling of wellbeing unless we kept ourselves fit and healthy.

Like cleaning our teeth, unless we clean them they eventually drop out!!

Our habits make us, shape us and keep a sense of reality within us just as we are pretending that doing what the heck we like over a long period of time hasn’t got consequences if we neglect our body, have declining activity levels and eat out/have takeaways way too much.

Life is a balance, have treats but make sure you workout at least 3 times a week, eat well 80% of the time, get plenty of fresh air and choose to mostly hangout with positive people who wish you well, those are the non-negotiables, and these habits  give you more choices than you ever thought because when you have your health, then anything is possible again.

Thursday, 20th April

Every morning around 1030am, the funeral cars usually pass the gym, I see them from a distance and don’t often know who’s passed away or think about it muchAs we all get older, we realise we will all eventually be in that situation.

It’s not something we want to think about.BUT it does make our little moments much more important.

When I say to people at the gym “see you tomorrow”, it sounds routine, and we take it for granted. But as we get older we realise that for all us, those goodbyes in terms of numbers get less and less.It makes us realise that there’s no such thing as “special times” to come, every moment is a special time.Teaching someone a new exercise/workout at the gym is a special moment, seeing great results regularly are special moments, watching my kids play football is very special to me, I don’t take 70 days or even 34 days like many of you or even much holidays at all, but I won’t have those games back and kids need someone in their corner so football is always like a special “holiday” moment for me.

Famiy time is important and the more of the family you see, the happier you usually are and a good sense of balance is achieved. You will know your own special moments, and realise even the most “boring” seemingly moments that seem stupid that we all take for granted should be cherished much more because none of them are forever.AND IT COMES DOWN TO THIS-if you aren’t looking after yourself by eating all the wrong stuff, not showing up to exercise and not getting enough fresh air, if you aren’t surrounding yourself with supportive and positive people and are always around stressful influences all the time, then on average, you will have less time on this earth and that’s a fact and that time is much more likely to be spent in pain too as your body inflames due to your diet and seizes up due to lack of movement-i hate to say that but the truth is the truth, any doctor will tell you that however much you dislike thatNONE of us are immune to shocks out of the blue with our health, but load the odds IN YOUR FAVOUR, instead of leading a lifestyle that will literally kill you far earlier than your time is really meant to be!!

Achieving some good results in anything is amazing, you feel proud, you receive complements and you are happy (for a while).

Then if and when the results start to slow down or stop even, you start to blame yourself, “why can’t I do it this time”, “I need to find my mojo again”, “why is it so hard this time” etc.

This is why you need to review what you are doing and you need a strategy.

If you are buying rubbish food into the house, don’t pretend it won’t get eaten because it WILL, how much rubbish you buy in directly contributes to the weight you put ON.

If you are skipping workouts or even weeks of workouts because “you have a lot on”, then the  “lot on” is never more important than your HEALTH.

Health is WEALTH, the sooner you get that message the better.

A very decent strategy starts with non-negotiable’s.

  1. Buy good nutritious food into the house, it will change the way you look and feel.
  2. MAKE your workouts a minimum of 3 times a week, it again will change the way you look and feel.
  3. Get to bed at a decent time in the week as recovery is vital, 8 hours is the aim, but if you always complain you are always tired in your day, then getting to bed early almost always fixes that problem along with drinking enough water.

ONLY YOU can stop yourself having great results and feeling your very best but it never comes by accident.

Monday 17th April

It’s been a long wet and cold winter, but it looks like the weather has finally broken. This should give you the extra push to get even more out of yourself.

All winter is when the real hard work is done, now you have the opportunity to do even more outside work, take on challenges perhaps you haven’t done for a while, and see what you are made of once again.

The foundations you wold have built over the winter will have seemed tough at the time, but you should be proud of how far you have come, when it would have been far easier to hide behind the settee and shy away from the cold, dark and rain and convince yourself you were even doing the right thing somehow.

It’s never too late though even if you have missed some training because today is always the right time to do your best and finally get back into it.

Here’s another thing to think about too, as the weather heats up, you will be wearing less clothes and that’s another big incentive to get into your best physical condition too, everyone wants to look and feel their best in the summer and today we need to step up the pace once again.

Life is better when you feel fitter and stronger, you are able to go places without the feeling of “will you be up to it or not or will you last the day” because you lack energy, that should never happen if you are able to workout three times a week, and the foundation you get training with us should set you up for literally anything.

Spring is well and truly here, and its waiting for you to start firing on all cylinders!!

12th April 2023

The most UNSELFISH thing you can do today is re-commit to being healthier and fitter.

Fast forward your life to 90 years age and looking back on your life.

Was it worth eating all that on balance, much more rubbish food that good food?

Not exercising to live in all that pain, irritability, bad moods at times, moaning about your life?

When you could see your life as a GIFT and OPPORTUNITY to get better, to do better, be full of energy, live without pain and RE-DISCOVER another world you thought had escaped you?

You have the chance to change it but you have admit you have reached rock bottom and the only way is UP!! But you have to make the effort, no self-pity (that time has to go no matter how social media will support you at times/or destroy you eventually), move more, show up more and start to nourish your body with great food, plenty of water, daily workouts and fresh air which will help you REST so much better too (sleep and healing your body too).

Here’s the last thing-the people who are around you that are closest, are you serving them well and keeping their minds at rest but not looking after yourself? Don’t pretend its even ok.

Get your mind right by moving more, the time has come for no more excuses!!
