21st December 2023

We all have a certain moment when we realise we have lost some athleticism in life as we age and that can cover a huge range of things.

Then TWO things can happen.

We either “accept” our “best days” are behind us.

OR

THE FIGHTBACK is about to start.

We ALL have had many such moments, and the company we keep can dictate heavily our thoughts.

We can gravitate towards those who have given up to moaning how life used to be, or we can roll up our sleeves, accept we have a lot of work to do, and get down the gym and literally change our present, our futures and ultimately our destiny.

When we start our fightback, it’s important to realise we must RE-LEARN how our body is meant to move.

We must RE-TEACH ourselves how to cook whole foods in their natural state and ditch all the ultra processed foods that are literally making us sick over time.

When anyone comes into gym for the first time, I see them on a fightback mission.

They could be a young sportsperson looking to get faster, stronger and more athletic in their chosen sport, but just as importantly they could be an 80 year old looking to regain balance, mobility, lessen the pain in their bodies and actually feel good about themselves maybe for the first time in years.

Pills ultimately will never give you self-confidence, self-esteem, mobility, strength, endurance, good lung capacity, balance or any kind of athleticism that really means something to you, but hard work, consistency and learning how to train right can literally change your life with zero side effects the pills are often associated with.

You must decide which stage you are in, somehow “accepting” your best days are over, or getting ready to get yourself off the floor one more time for the biggest fightback of your life.

Monday 18th December

Being a year round gym matters and is emphasised more than ever right now.

As the winter solstice and the short day of the year happens thursday, dark forces threaten to take over our minds. 8am darkness plus 4pm darkness threatens our human sense of safety and brings us closest to the feeling of hibernation we could possibly get.

The problem though as humans is that we rely on other external “full of life” forces to keep us strong, to keep our mind in a good place and to give us a sense that we are control of our lives, rather than “life happening to us” and surrendering to those feelings.

The external full of life forces I’m talking about are daily fresh air, and you aren’t a “freak” for wanting it every day, whoever tells you that should be treated as a dark force not wanting the best for you.It is true i told the Coop last week that 80% of what they sell is not good for you and “rubbish” (told them not to take it personally!) and full of chemicals, but this is true of ALL supermarkets as the food industry makes much more money selling us mass produced versions of “food” that can often last for months.

Your full of life foods are the simplest ones, the ones that endless chemicals have NOT been added to, and the plainer you keep your food the better (just like your grandparents likely did), if you want to feel better and indeed feel “full of life”.

Thanks to so many of you who showed up again today, realising what good health really is and well done on you doing so wonderfully well all year long too.Christmas means many things to many people of course, but we must cherish health above everything else, because without it, all the stuff we really want to happen in life isn’t possible.

Dec 11th

IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of recent studies show us ultra processed food is highly addictive and purposely designed that way by the food companies.

Lots of recent studies also show us that ultra processed food has the same addiction rates as cocaine, around 20% of those who try it.

Another horrid figure, 22% of human beings who die on our planet die so through a poor diet, more than tobacco, alcohol and everything else.

It is true when you walk in a supermarket, the vast majority of those aisles are full of ultra processed food that is purposely created to make us not only like it, but also designed to EAT MORE of it.

You ARE NOT to blame if you keep eating this stuff, just like the person who starts smoking and suddenly finds they can’t stop, but all the foods, chemicals and all sorts of stuff created in a lab are there to deliver the elements in that food to get you instantly hooked.

It is true that eating healthier whole foods is a bit more “unsexy”, especially at this time of year, but you will likely eat far less in terms of overall calories, overall sugar and overall chemicals that is doing you ZERO favours, and remain FULLER for longer if you eat foods in their natural form.

I urge you to not blame yourself any longer for the damage that food may have done to you and made you sick maybe, but it’s time to fight back.

THERE IS is another way, if there’s one gift you can give to your family is realising that whole foods in their natural form is the best way to go, not only to get in better physical condition, but to end FOR GOOD the conversations “I got to go on a diet again”, and the endless lose weight/pile on weight cycle that will inevitably promote.

We will back you all the way to change.

Monday, Dec 11th

We are tempted to forget sometimes how far we have come, and we are tempted to over-congratulate ourselves by going back to the habits we had before we even started being committed to a healthy lifestyle.

Even though Christmas is almost here, it’s still a great idea to use the 80% rule.

80% of the time still eat well, and 20% of the time you can afford something you fancy.

80% of the time, still put in decent workouts because it does become about feeling good still.

When you first stared, chances are the stuff you ate too much, you drank too much maybe (I’m including pop in that too), AND your lack of exercise may have made you feel ill and in pain much of the time.

Then your lifestyle changed and 100% all of you will state the fact you just FEEL BETTER now as your lifestyle changed and sometimes dramatically.

You should be proud of how far you have come, and to keep feeling that good use the 80% rule, it not only works but keeps a good balance in your life too, so you never feel as if you are depriving yourself of anything.

7th Dec

2024 is next year. BUT 2023 is NOT over yet, and it’s important you keep making the most of it.

One of the most valuable lessons many of you learned this year is having your habits ENGRAINED into your life and the power that now brings you.

You tell me now you strongly associate good mental health all day after your exercise session, the chemical reaction that is proven to be set off in your brain during and after exercise is very powerful for your mood, your sense of wellbeing, and does wonders for your previous periods of anxiousness, which in the past could overwhelm you and finish you for the day.

I class a habit as something you do pretty much every day, and you do it now without thinking about it too much, you just do it..

Exercise has the added bonus of actually doing you good too.

This means that if you have been training for any length of time, you should never wish that this year ends quickly and you “get it out of the way”, because so many people would swap places with you in a heartbeat, and you should take the opportunity to cherish every day, to try and make a positive impact, to help others out too and when you do that you actually feel better yourself.

When we have a sense that our presence contributes to the well-being and happiness of others, then our mission in life seems a lot more important and we will likely take more responsibility for it, it makes us step out from the shadows when “coasting and hiding” seems the easiest option.

Christmas can be an enormously sad and desperate time for so many people, it’s our job to lift others up around us and this starts first and foremost with ourselves, because if we can’t lift ourselves, then we will be of not much value or example to others.

Your habits you have learned this year again, exercising, eating healthily and the power of encouragement, should make you have a very positive end of year, and that positivity will only rub off on others that are closest to you.
