Out of gas, run down, can’t sleep, can’t get up early, depressed, life has no meaning, can’t get motivated, vicious circles, I can never find time, I’m too old, it always happens to me, life is so hard, I’m in pain 24/7, I hate my life, I’m stressed, I can’t catch a break, I have to have my comfort food, I am existing not living-are ALL parts of sentences I hear from people each and every week when they want to start exercising or want a better lifer for themselves..

Most people in those situations need a RE-CHARGE, a RE-BOOTING, a lift up when they need it most.

You know by training regular at the gym that it lifts you up.

You know that when you are training, you have way more motivation to eat well.

You know when you training, you will SLEEP and rest much better.

You know when you are fitter and healthier, you are capable of giving more as a parent because your mood will be much better, same as a grandparent, friend, work colleague, business owner, and human being in general.

The biggest gift you can give someone is the gift of moving more, eating better and being around for them to be a great uplifting influence for them at all times.

We have always focused on getting better as a gym, and providing better and better service and programmes to you.

Every 3 weeks we make sizeable gains to all areas, our strength, core, balance, endurance, speed and agility-and 3 weeks is enough to see huge progress where we need to keep improving.

The big shock is when someone who is very fit, they could be playing a very decent level of sport for example, and they get buried by our programmes when they initially try them.

They will see many 70 year olds at the gym lifting big weights, pulling big heavy things uphill, running with ever-increasing speed and in general doing mostly very high energy, highly technical movements that require massive efforts.

This illustrates the power of keeping improving, keep challenging you to the limits, and building inside of you immense reserves of of physical ability, but also grit, determination,  and a refusal to quit and surrender no matter how hard/impossible the next challenge may seem.

The great news is that the new upcoming programme on monday is our greatest challenge yet, but you have been built up to it, and your resilience and performances have created this very high standard.

Staying in the game

Living with optimism can be tough, but you have to remember why you started and realise optimism will go up and down, you will get knocked down, and then good things will happen to raise you back up.

Sometimes your body will be in pain, sometimes you will have good days, but that is something you will always have to accept, but never stopping is the key every single time and doing what you can do from workout to workout.

Imagine what your best outcome in life is right now, and keep pursuing it no matter what.

Nobody has a right to take away that dream from you, but you have to stay in the game, keep working around potential obstacles and keep putting your best foot forward one step at a time.

If you have a challenge, you have to keep showing up and conquering it, you won’t get anywhere hiding and ducking when the going gets tough, you only win and be happy in life when you face all the tough stuff head on.

Monday is done, hope you won your day, if not, tomorrow is another great opportunity with a clean slate!!

The climbing a mountain analogy for your gym journey is very appropriate.

You will  have plenty of enjoyable moments where you do well, and are able to take in the great view you have ascended to.

Then at times due to life pressures, you may unbalanced, stuck on a ledge at times with no easy way up from there. BUT you have not option to go further unless you DIG IN and be resourceful.

Digging deep only happens when we remember exactly why we first started, and how our life was back then, and how our life is now with much better health and strength. How life was back then when we struggled with mental health, and how life is now when we use our workouts to crush anxiety, stress and doubt.

If you are stuck on that ledge right now, you need to unload the unhelpful baggage like the junk food, you don’t need to be drinking more than once a week, you do need to get to bed earlier in the week to recover from your workouts, and wake up early the next day and get meaningful stuff DONE, and you DO need to show up and keep feeling better and proud of yourself and your great efforts with us.

THIS is what gets you off that ledge of uncertainty, doubt and worry-it’s the doing and taking action that will eventually make you overcome the sticking points, the times you think you aren’t improving and gives you ultimately the strength to carry on and excel.

The most successful people seemingly “get it right all the time”-but that statement is grossly inaccurate and a lie.

The truth is they TRY more than anyone else, and are never scared to keep having a go, failure is just a necessary everyday experience to learn from.

We have all put off things because not even trying was the “safest option”.

Going for food at the same time you could be training is a lot more “cuddly” an option than busting your behind at the gym getting a big sweat on.

BUT going out for food or a pint/wine won’t get your mind right, won’t increase your energy and well being and definitely won’t elevate your life like regular workouts will. DO the work first, then you will earn your fun.

Start making excuses on why you can’t do your workouts can become a nasty and self-limiting habit.

Life can be hard enough but putting limits on yourself through making ever more elaborate excuses will mean big dents on your self-belief and ultimately your self-esteem and self-confidence, and definitely hurt your health and wellbeing.

Run at the things that scare you sand keep having a go, even if many times things don’t go quite as you planned. I guarantee you though that the more you try, the better you will get and as long as you are prepared to KEEP learning, then the level of success you can eventually attain in really up to you and your efforts.
