Faith in yourself and your ability is often great to hear, but many people leave themselves down on this time after time. I believe faith needs constant reinforcement, constant practice and great support along the way.

We all doubt ourselves, we all can write ourselves off sometimes even before we start.

Whatever your goals and ambitions for your health, you are lacking self belief if you make excuses not to show up regular. It’s true I train and have trained some of the busiest people you have ever met, yet they still make time for exercise, eating right and doing that consistently-that’s the secret right there and that’s the truth.

If you want something bad enough you WILL make time for it, get to bed earlier, get up earlier and get other stuff done. Look at yourself in the mirror, you know 3 times minimum at the gym will make great progress and make you feel 100 times better-its tried and tested and don’t kid yourself theres any other way, if you haven’t it’s not me making a judgement, it’s you needing to face a reality check.

Keep believing in yourself, keep coming for support and keep getting your workouts done.

The definition of Adrenalin

Adrenaline makes your heart beat faster and your lungs breathe more efficiently. It causes your blood vessels to send more blood to your brain and muscles, increases your blood pressure, makes your brain more alert, and raises blood sugar levels to give you energy.

Sound familiar?

All of those benefits come through exercising, the great news too is that there is no crash like after alcohol or fast food/high sugar foods. No hangovers, no depressing thoughts the next day, no energy levels on the floor.

Most of you will think much more clearly after exercise, you will make better decisions, take more ambitious projects on in life and live life with optimism, hope and a strong sense of wellbeing every day.

Adrenaline is something we all need in our lives and when we do it through exercise, you have all the positives with none of the negatives associated with doing it all the wrong way.

We are right in the deep freeze, the deep darkness, the deepest wet period of the year. It’s much easier to stay in bed an hour later, it’s much easier to stay in the warm, it’s much easier to put things off until after Christmas.

Having one week off is easy, extending that to one off is very easy, after all “you deserve it”! Easier to start eating mince pies early, drink a little bit a little bit more often. Wear baggy jumpers and clothes, after all, they will cover everything well “until I start back and eat right again”.

After many years of doing this, I see the pattern on the aftermath.

Lots of colds etc around at the moment due to the time of year, but the less you exercise, the less you eat well and the less fresh air you get, the more likely you are to catch the cold as your immune system will naturally dip as you aren’t protecting it so much anymore, ask your doctor if that’s true?

When you don’t move as much, you don’t get out as much, your mental health will naturally dip as we need human contact and to see people, we need stimulation and we need to laugh regularly.

Then we arrive at Christmas feeling a little worse off, cold’s lingering and we don’t do much to boost our immune systems.

27th December Beechams powders, Anadin and all the cold/flu tablet companies are in full force, they often take full page ads out and plaster the shops with their banners, they KNOW you will be struggling.

Then the New year you are dying to feel better, shed the weight and lift your energy levels, but you lack motivation because you don’t feel well, you have zero energy and your immune system is so low, everything is “too much of an effort”.

Those who have lost their health have told me over the years they would give all their money away just to get their health BACK, to feel better and feel “like they used to” again.

This time of year tricks you into feeling worse, into doing less, and without knowing, letting your immune system go downhill fast, so far you struggle to get back going at all, which is only the beginning of a slippery stone that leads to more pain in your body, zero energy and poor mental health.

There is an alternative, you keep on moving every day, you keep getting fresh air every day, you keep eating health 80% of the time and still have the occasional treat, and you keep having human contact daily to keep your mind active and your spirits up-the true formula to feeling better, having fun and living a much higher quality of life.

Gareth Southgate who recently finished as England manager, after a Euro final loss, said today he was struggling to find his “next purpose in life”.

Traditional society thinking is “he has loads of money and time now with zero pressure, he should ‘enjoy’ it”!!!

By that I presume people mean go on a ‘permanent holiday’, eating and drinking what he wants, not rising much before midday and never tackling anything that could be classed as challenging ever again.

The reality for him though he said he was used to performing at his very highest level when coaching England, and the responsibility that went with it.

The void now is huge he says, and illustrates the emptiness in many people’s lives of the strong sense of purpose leaving their lives, even temporarily.

Southgate spoke about the England job keeping him track, giving his life structure and made his life more fulfulling.

These are all crucial elements of making us happy as a human beings, when we serve others often and do it well.

Society used to tell us to ‘slow down as we get older’, ‘take challenge out of our lives’, but the reality seems to be it’s a poor choice.

We need that sense of purpose to get us out of bed every day, we need to realise we can be very fit and healthy well into retirement and how essential it really is, and we all need to have a strong sense of purpose that challenges us, or the emptiness from not having that can be highly destructive for our physical, mental and emotional health.

Exercise can be worked on, or you slide back.

Everyone who has exercised and then not exercised will agree with this hopefully , if you do not work on your strength, balance, lung capacity, getting your heart stronger-a minimum THREE times a week (out of 7 possible days), then those areas will not improve constantly.

Getting stronger is vital not only for your muscles, but your bone density too, crucial as you get older in every single area.Improving your balance is vital-as you age you will know people who have falls due to poor balance and often they don’t often recover from it

.Lung capcity is vital to do anything worth doing in life, which goes hand in hand with heart strength, and don’t forget heart disease is still the biggest killer in the UK.

Taking these things for granted is something most people do, UNTIL problems start. You have every opportunity to do great things the RIGHT way with us-take them.
