October 26th-you win in your mind first

You win or lose everything in your mind first. If you think you are going to win you day, then you are right.

If you think you are likely to have a bad day, you are also right, and you will usually fulfil each thought in your mind.We all have big days in our lives and if you think back to your best, most successful days, then it usually started the night before as you thought about the big event the next day.You were nervous, you felt even uneasy at times at your big moment to come, but usually all of that adrenalin paid off and you did better than you actually thought, and you were often proud of your efforts.Setting the conditions for that success was ultra-important.

The early night, the good food on the day that gave you energy, you drunk some water and you often had good encouragement of those close to you.To win most days, setting yourself up for success usually turns on a few small things, but they are MUST DO’S. You need an early night, you need to eat well, drink enough water, and the constant encouragement from at least one person cannot be underestimated.

All of these make sure you usually have good to great workouts, greater clarity of thought and a realisation that you can be far closer to reaching your potential than you ever thought, and often OVER-ACHIEVING, through your consistent efforts over time. You win it in your mind first, use your head and use the tried and tested strategies that are guaranteed to make you peform at your best CONSISTENTLY.

Tuesday 26th October 2021

Whatever situation you are with your health, literally nothing improves when you move less.

There’s PLENTY you can DO!!Your circulation is already in trouble if you spend extended periods on the settee every day and don’t stand enough, your blood doesn’t move around your body enough and all the associated risks that come with that, your body starts to ache, and those aches can develop into long term pain easily, and you mistakenly don’t move so much because…….you are in pain.I have NEVER seen anyone’s health improve not improve by moving more.I have NEVER seen anyone’s mental health not improve by moving more.

The media, some negative “friends” and colleagues will encourage to do less, when the most UNSAFE thing you can do right now is not exercise, not eat well and not expose yourself to positive influences. This is the TIME to dedicate yourself to having better health, more positive mental health and spend time on YOU rather than spreading yourself too thin, never exercise and “rewarding” yourself badly with rubbish junk food and ready meals.

There is PLENTY you can do, start from the bottom and work up and see where this truly rewarding journey takes you. Courage always begins with the first step

One of lockdown’s great lessons was to ‘enjoy life more”, “put life into perspective”, “make time for the important things in life”, “take care of my body and mind”.All honourable intentions, but where do you stand on them now?Has life swept you off your feet in the wrong way?

So fast you haven’t had much time to breathe? Are you overwhelmed again?Has lockdown made you so under-confident that you don’t even want to leave the house?

You WANT to but somehow can’t.Or are you following through on these great principles of living every day at your best level-as the cliche goes “your best life”.Your workout is your spark, your catalyst to really looking after yourself as well as eating right and are you still on your top game? Are you training 3 times a week minimum, are you on top of your food or are you livjng on man made rubbish?

After lockdown and during, was that “eureka” moment where you saw life a different way, and promised yourself you wouldn’t go back to the things that dragged you down both in your mind and your body.A realisation of how far you have come makes you realise how much of a positive impact you have really made, or how much further you have gone away from or come closer to what you really want in life.

Congratulations if you are taking action daily, and it’s not too late if you have plenty of work to do still. Whatevery our situation-JUST GET GOING!

Feeling overwhelmed is a common emotion for many people.A feeling of hopelessness is a feeling that hope is in short supply and there is little way out no matter what you do, despite there being a lack of real life evidence of this being true.

Life can go two ways on the back of those emotions. Support is vital and sometimes a lot of people don’t know it’s even there.Living in fear of your life not going anywhere near the way you hoped, paralyses you and almost stops you taking a action.

I’m lucky to see so many of you showing up every day sand getting stuck in, no matter how you felt before entering the gym. You may have bounced and skipped into the gym full of enthusiasm and excitement, or you may have struggled to put your trainers on after trying many times to do so, and finally succeeding this time.

This is what i DO KNOW.Once you get to the gym, you are almost forced to take action because everyone around is having a go, so it would seem “rude” not to have a go yourself! That increase in moving your body is enough to ignite inside of you a very positive emotional uplift, a real world boost in mood, the best natural “happy pill” you could ever enjoy, and your OWN body created it.

And even when you leave the gym, those emotions don’t go away either, they last long enough just about until it’s time for your next visit, and the great news is that the more you come, the more powerful the chemical response in your brain becomes, flooding your body with positive emotions and a feelgood uplift like nothing else.

Life is a series of choices, this choice has never been so important for you.

Showing up

Hard work and showing up beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard or show up-that’s a fact.

We always remember the people in life who gave it everything, who showed up relentlessly and never moaned no matter what’s going on in their life at that particular time.

We remember the people who took a chance, made a leap of faith and never worried about what people thought of them. The truth is though that everyone DOES worry about what people think at some stage in their lives, and when you realise it’s not WORTH worrying about what anyone thinks and you should actually GO FOR IT, that’s the greatest freedom you can give yourself.

The people who workout the hardest with us are always the most humble.

They refuse to take too much praise, only focused on getting better. A list of many names just flashed through my mind, and you probably know them too, and all we can say is that they hold massive respect at the gym because they always show up, they are always willing to tackle and beat adversity, and they always find a way to get better.

I have great respect for someone who starts at the gym and they can’t do a lot of things, but every session after want to be shown one more thing.

I love the frustration in their eyes sometimes because they can’t quite do it yet, and come in the next time asking to keep having a go at it until they can, that’s the attitude I love, and that’s what everyone in the gym should go through in their quest to become an accomplished exerciser/trainer at the gym.

Anyone who thinks they know it all has in truth never existed and is only deluding themselves, we are all students of the game always learning.

Autumn is in full swing, the lights are being switched on a lot earlier out the back of them which means a new season is about to start full of excitement, expectation and fresh new challenges.

The attitude you all show at the gym is incredibly inspirational for all of us, remember that showing up and working hard is the only GUARANTEED way to be in the best shape of your life.

We all have choices, you either accept the challenge and make it a priority and live your life with pride, fulfilment and great health  or you somehow believe your best days are behind you which is like pushing the self-destruct button.
