I give thanks every day for our sessions and the opportunity you give us to help you..

Thanks to all of you who give so much effort to be with us.

Thanks for all the life-changing moments you have created for yourself and for us.

Thanks for ultimate job satisfaction, even if i don’t believe i have a “job”.

Thanks for all the encouragement you all give to others, it makes my job much easier and a collective “leg up” to anyone struggling is worth far more than any one person can give.

Thanks for believing in yourselves, this makes ALL the difference.

Thanks i get to do what i love to do.

Thanks you push me and the gym to become better.

Thanks that we see ourselves as US at the gym and not ME, we are a gym family and we share our success together.

Giving thanks means we are rich. When you are thankful for each and everyday, you are richer beyond your wildest dreams.

The individuals recently shown in the series of Sport Wales to inspire our nation shared the same quality. It’s called “stoicism”. They had the ability to endure pain and hardship without complaint or looking for praise.

They accept their circumstances and didn’t accept short term pleasures or easy way outs, they wanted long term foundations in their lives and they were prepared to work hard over time to get the rewards.

They were never on social media saying how great they were, recognition for how great they had done was NOT any concern. They grew to love the process of working hard, grinding out the workouts that were making them well and healthy again. This was more than enough for them.

They made the films to inspire others ONLY, not to take any credit themselves. I deeply admire that.

One of our greatest trainers Barrie King would become one of our greatest ever athletes in the gym, brutal weight training sessions before a further brutal rugby session when Burry Port RFC were the best team around. He was a pro before pro athletes knew what hard training was all about-this was in the 1970’s too!

I once saw Barrie 6am down the harbour on a bike, i thought who’s this beastly athlete on a bike coming towards me? It was Barrie! But more than that he was riddled with cancer but he was determined to smash it with exercise, unbelievably strong mindset he had all his life was still with him even though he was seriously ill.

He never complained once in our chat and my admiration already high, was raised another several levels.

My father always said that respect is only earned over a lifetime and by your deeds. Respect is dictated by others’ experience of you and you must respect yourself too.

Respect is never driving a rented flashy car or the biggest house, that never impresses anyone as it’s fleeting and materialistic. Respect is treating people fairly and serving them to the best of your ability, all of the time, and doing your best work without complaint or for attention.

Whatever story you have, it’s YOUR story.

My first person of the day i train may have a bad knee, the next a hip replacement, the next a problem with their discs in the back, the next may have huge confidence problem etc etc.

All of these have very different stories, different circumstances, different ambitions and different influences on their lives.

If you have issues with any of those conditions mentioned, chances are that your number one priority is to get out of pain first, build up your confidence first, build up to being comfortable with exercising etc.

Everyone goes at it at their own pace, some struggle to get going, some get up to speed quickly, but one thing is for sure, be consistent with your training and your story will go from being a beginner or being someone who has a painful injury, to someone who has great momentum that can achieve great things every step of the way.

Every day, every year, i see the ones who stick at it, who don’t quit when things are sent to test them, who don’t quit when it would easier to throw the towel in, are the ones who get the REAL results, the long lasting results, and mentally have been building such strong foundations, that their chances of long term success are extremely high.

The ones who stick it usually overcome adversity along the way. Once they discover that they can get over one thing, then the next challenge becomes easier, then they develop strong self-belief that makes them virtually unstoppable.

Becoming the “one who sticks at it” isn’t easy, it requires true grit and character. If you first focus first on showing every time and doing your best, time will soon pass and soon enough you will become the person everyone looks up to, with the great results developed through hard work and consistency.

Your choice on which path you take.

Outstanding day from all of you today, when you the members do well, our gym does well simple as that.

One thing all of you must remember for ALL areas of your life, physical fitness is NON-NEGOTIABLE.

I train people who earn £70 a week and i train people who earn substantially more, but without being fit and healthy it all doesn’t matter a damn thing.

What car you drive i am not concerned with, that’s the most shallow way to measure someone’s success. If you can bust your behind up a steep hill and feel good afterwards, you are fit.

If you can lift well, and show gradual improvements, you are fit and strong, and your body is loving you inside.

NOBODY IMPRESSES me by telling me how much money they have, where they go on holiday or what bullshit station they have got to in life, it’s their health and wellness that says where they really are and here’s why.

If they are fit and heathy, they really care how much energy they have and CAN GIVE to others.

They want to live longer and be around to look after their family with HUGE ENERGY, this is an over-looked fact of life and i admire everyone who realises that health is everything.

The most SELFLESS thing you can do is look after yourself, look after your health, set a great example to others to follow and get inspired by.

These are facts, and get fired up to create more great things in your life.
