Always remember that making tough choices today for the greater good leads to an easier life. The pay offs will be huge. Eating healthy all the time isn’t always easy, but it will keep your body resilient and your immune system strong. Exercising hard will keep your body flexible, strong and you be much more likely to stay injury free.

If you take the easy choices, then are likely building a tough life because avoiding doing the work has consequences, You will only get stiffer, you will have zero energy, your mental health will suffer and avoiding doing the right things will only see problems pile up in your life.

Tough choices and doing tough things means creating an easier life.

Taking easy choices means living a tough life.

The choice has never been clearer.

Don’t be the “fat cat”

The “fat cat” is not to be admired, it is a sign of being at your weakest and most vulnerable, just as you over-congratulate yourself.

The alligator is a very powerful animal, capable of ripping any other animal apart.

That is UNTIL it has had a big meal, and has to rest for a long time afterwards. That is when the aalligator is MOST vulnerable to attack. The navy seals in their infamous “hell week” of training when they try to break their new hopeful recruits, all of a sudden will bring them in for a hot shower and a big meal, the hope is the recruits will find it so comforting after being wet, tired and cold for a few days, the recurits will “ring the bell” and not want to go back out there, because they have been weak again by the prospect of home comforts again. You may have had a great monday but if you become too comfortable by eating rubbish afterwards, then you are making yourself weaker just when you could be getting stronger.

All those goals you had (losing body fat, maybe geting your blood pressure good again, building muscle, getting your mental health better) won’t happen unless you keep showing up, training hard and eating right afterwards, and being ultra-consistent with that process, espeically in the week when there’s no other excuses acceptable not to be doing the right thing!Don’t be the fat cat, be the one who’s always looking for more and to only build on the success you keep having.

Monday 10th Feb

Setting the tone early in your week should be your highest priority.

Lots of you made your early week workout this morning, and gave yourself every chance of succeeding. You bought in fully to what we are trying to do, got stronger, got faster and did your best on everything.

After that, your week can only get better, you have given yourself every chance of getting high energy in your life, big motivation to drive you onto further workouts, and a sense of purpose to finish off this week the best you can.

When you are fully committed you show up and thrive on the challenges we have set you. Monday shouldn’t be a day of half measures, there’s no “duvet day”, there’s no let’s watch back to back episodes of your favourite TV show, and there’s definitely no putting things off “until later in the week”-TODAY matters and what you actually do matters much more.

Set the tone strongly and put the odds firmly in your favour for the week!

Recovery speed

Workout energy and how you need it regularly is well documented to allow you to succeed with your health and fitness goals, but the same intensity is needed with your injury recovery too.

We do hear lots of stories of athletes coming back sooner than ever from injuries. But this is due to their relentless effort and help from professionals to do so. An ACL knee injury often took 18 months, many footballers would retire and their career would be over, and this thinking was around 30 years ago too.

Now you hear of recovery taking 9 months to be able to play again, but that again involves the daily commitment to doing the right things over and above what you would expect of a “normal” person who isn’t a pro athlete.

You may not recover quite as quick but we are determined to help you as much as possible to get back to normal life as quickly as possible, but this requires you to keep your side of the bargain and keep showing up and doing your best, the more you put into it, the better and quicker your recovery end of story!!

Positive attitudes change recovery too, it’s very easy to be frustrated, to get fed up, but as long as you are moving in the right direction, and keep your spirits up along the way, your recovery will be far quicker than a sheet of paper with exercises that are often given to you by physios in hospital (they often don’t even demonstrate the exercises with you or test you on them to see if they are suitable or cause you pain).

REMEMBER how far you have come, remember how well you are doing and double down on the effort side of things as well as the showing up side of things (3 times a week minimum) and great things WILL happen for you in the healing and recovery process.

5th Feb 2025

Most people give up on things they want because they get discouraged.

The discouragement can be a lot of things, but in the gym’s case, it’s mainly to do with not walking through the door, as many people will find many reasons not to walk through the door as it can often be the hardest part..

When you get in the door, we know you get ENCOURAGED because your body will start moving, the positive chemicals in your brain will be activated and your mindset will change completely.

Your gym experience will hopefully be extremely positive, but if you don’t do it enough, then it can be like a holiday, that great memory will soon FADE and your motivation will often fade with it.

This is why routine is so important, unless you pencil in 3 time slots a week (and even 20 mins with us is great), you will soon find the excuses not to come far easier to reach for and to use way to often.

It’s important to realise that many in the gym will have it worse than you, NOBODY has all the time in the world, NOBODY springs out of bed daily saying they can’t wait to get to the gym, NOBODY has the perfect set of circumstances to make fit to the gym, WE ALL are time-crunched as life is only getting busier for all of us, and often more stressful too.

I URGE you to show up regularly, to do well like so many of you are, to take your mind to a brilliant place every time you do a workout with us, and take up all the wonderful opportunities you have right now!!!

Swap discouragement to GETTING EXCITED about your life again, and it all starts with your workout so keep making it happen.
