With a bit of luck, you have got through your big workout yesterday to set the tone for the week, and maybe you are thinking how you can replicate that impressive start to the week.

Variety then should be your number one way to keep your standards high, your workouts fresh and therefore your progress high too!!!

This is why your workouts apart from weight training and the usual cardio should incorporate so much more!!!

If you have read this thing for a while, then you will know only too well that i love medicine ball work, bosu ball exercises, swiss ball work, and boxing workouts.

These exercises will work your body in a different way and often reach the hard to get areas that traditional exercise doesn’t seem to get near!!!

All of these different forms of exercise tend to hammer your core much more deeply than a more traditional workout. They are so successful that i consider these forms of training as my “traditional” form workout!!!

Once you have your traditional form of training change, then its at this point when exercising becomes “exciting again”, which is down to the variety AND effectiveness of your training, which in turn produces the big results that we are all after!!!

The best way to incorporate these types of training is to package various exercises into groups of 3.

For example, you could do medicine ball press ups, with alternate squat thrusts, and then finish it off with rope work we like to do at the gym all the time. Let me straight away that the group of three just mentioned may well be the hardest combination you could pick.

Of course, exercise selection depends entirely on your fitness ability and what you can handle.

It’s always better to start off cautiously and we will be discussing much more of this tomorrow!!!

Monday 29th November

Belief in what you’re doing is the single most important thing that can happen in your life.

If you ask any multi-millionnaire who has made that money out of nothing, they will say that.

Anyone who has changed people’s lives or even countries lives such as Ghandi would not have achieved so much had the initial belief not existed.

If you don’t believe in what you are doing, you will eventually fail to bring the desired result into your life.

When you have complete belief, anything is possible.

For example, if you wanted to try and drive to london, you would know to travel pretty much on the M4 all the way. You may take the odd wrong turning or get off at the wrong exit maybe, but you will know how to re-position yourself and get on the right track again all the way to london. This is due to the fact that you may have done it a few times and you have total belief in your ability to get there.

Those of you who have been in good shape before, will know the way you need to go to get into great condition. The problem becomes when you take “the wrong turnings” at times and instead of “getting back on track”, you tend to lose heart and lose your direction.

It’s at this exact time that total belief in what you’re doing has to be the number one priority. This will get you through every time as long as you remember a few simple principles. You will know it when you eat right most of the time, you will feel much better and keeping a good water intake coming remains vital to your health and progress. You will know it when you’re having great workouts, fantastic energy levels will become the norm. This all adds up to very good sleep which is hugely important and makes your body recover better than ever.

We maybe only 3 weeks to christmas, but this is the time to really believe in yourself and your abilities. Don’t let ANYONE put you off because you have the ability to do these simple things to be in the best shape you’ve ever been.

Belief starts here, let’s do it!!

Snow energy!

I would never recommend this to others but i did get a run in down the coastal path this morning, and thinking it may have been milder this morning, i was wrong and it was all ice and snow, with the prospect of steady snow sunday and monday!

I can’t tell you how great i feel this morning after it though, i truly have tons and tons of energy after it and i’m fired up to post this early in the morning! It is sometimes hard to remember how good you feel after a workout when the weather is like what it is this week and last. It can sap your energy in a strange kind of way. The old saying that you can be more tired sometimes doing nothing is never more true! The dogs appreciated it too with me this morning, and from their point of view, their daily exercise too is essential and can seriously affect their mood and feeling of wellbeing.

Cyril posted today that he may be going out with the kids and sledge later, and that’s all good too. Let’s face it, if you tried cycling or running off road in these conditions, you are seriously risking some big injuries. The bottom line this week is that the week shouldn’t become a write off. The inside workouts can be taken to new levels, nothing wrong with going for a walk at all, as long as it’s safe of course and take your time.

This weather is also no excuse to eat badly, but if you do, put it behind you and start the next day as a new day, and you’re going to put it right. Like exercise, good food will do simply that, make you FEEL better and it’s been tried and tested. The healthy foods we all know about now are available in every supermarket in the land, there’s nothing stopping them come into the country and don’t buy into this rubbish that sugary and fatty food keeps you warm! I thought central heating did that?!!

And today, after a good shower and breakfast, i actually feel warmer and need less clothes for now. Snow doesn’t have to drain your energy away and make you eat a lorry load of chocolate and mince pies, it really doesn’t have to do that!!! Cyril, i want to hear how much energy you had after you came back from being out in the snow?!!!
