The critical moment for some of you this week is when you leave work, you’re on your way home and you’re planning to hit the gym as normal when the climate this time of year starts to have an effect.

Now it’s dark, wet and cold and suddenly little doubts may creep in maybe due to the negativity of others.

You may work with people who head home, feel sorry for themselves, put on their onesie and try to keep warm on their settee, “being active” often for them is going to make another cup of tea.

A quick remedy is to ask yourself if you have the same goals and ambitions as them? Are you ambitious, do you want to look and feel amazingly good? Are you prepared to work on your mindset to become stronger mentally too? If you overcome this test you definitely will.

Do you go training then? You know you’re going to feel better as soon as you get to the gym, and much better when you get your session in, but it’s the process of arriving home, getting changed straight away and back in the car to the gym that are the vital moments that you have to get through.

It’s often said that your destiny is shaped in your moments of indecision.

Making the right call at key moments will make the difference between you being ultimately very successful or not.

The people who make their sessions with a “no matter what” attitude are the ones who arrive at Christmas and at the start of
January in incredible shape, they are incredibly positive by overcoming obstacles and challenges along the way, they know it can be tough, and often become leaders at our gym, the ones who always lead by example and inspire plenty of others to take the same path.

So many people spend wasteful amounts of time and money chasing things that they are unlikely to attain, and not really worth attaining.

Most people think lottery tickets are the answer to all their problems.

Is it really worth it chasing a dream that has odds of around 13 million to one?

Chasing a dream that is found to make many of its winners unhappy, and lead to many broken relationships and a lower sense of self-worth?

How about investing in your health and body, improving your strength of resolve and develop yourself on a continuous basis in all ways.

You can’t do anything worthwhile without good health, anyone who’s had poor health will tell you that.

When you invest in your health, and do it CONSISTENTLY, the quality of life improvement can be staggering.

You will develop way more energy, you will get leaner and much more toned, you will become much more optimistic, you will find out what it’s like to overcome challenges physically and how great it feels to overcome them mentally.

Your life will become much more positive, and you will tend to shut out the negativity around much easier that may be holding you back.

Nothing better than feeling good full stop. This is what regular exercise and eating right gives you every single time.

Invest your time and money putting yourself first and getting your health in good order, easily the best investment you will ever make and literally life-changing.

An old saying is that you need to be willing to sacrifice what you are for what you could become.

That moment when you become ultimately successful is amazing when you change your body and mind for the better. That journey though is full of bumps on the road that often tries to throw you off course.

Here’s what I notice just before our most successful members get the huge results they want, something really unique happens.

If you rewind slightly before they get over the finishing line, just before they were about to achieve their greatest successes, they too also go through the self-doubt, the thoughts whether they could carry on or not, whether they were really making the staggering changes that everyone was telling them they were.

Most people we train are very humble people, and sometimes they only believe their success when their clothes are suddenly falling down on them!

They only believe it when people they haven’t seen for a while ask them what the heck they have been doing! The change is often so dramatic that it makes friends comment so much on a regular basis.

It’s a fact that most people when they try to achieve anything in life often quit when their victory and success is only a yard or so away, the final bit of self-belief and seeing it through are so important to complete the journey.

Success comes when you stick it out a bit longer, even when times are tough and you think you can’t get through it.

Change is often uncomfortable but change is the essence of life, and is the main reason why people ask to join our gym. They want change in their lives, and it’s our job to deliver that change, even if it’s very tough at times, I know the individual concerned at the end though will be extremely happy with the results and very proud of their achievements.

Meals in a flash

Meals in a flash

We all have nights when we haven’t been shopping, the kids are screaming and everyone is hungry. So before you grab your keys and head to the local chippy here are some ideas. They are not rocket science but they make great meals with all the elements of a good workout meal.

Omlettes – eg. cheese, mushroom, tomato and onion, cheese and onion. Fill half the plate with salad such as tomato, spinach and avocado. Two slices of wholemeal bread on the side.

Boiled eggs – These are simple to make. Two slices of bread lightly spread with real butter on the side with some spinach and avocado

Beans on toast with a fried egg (olive oil for frying) or better still scrambled eggs.

Poached eggs with vegetable stir fry. Mushrooms, onion, peppers and spinach stir fried with a little Olive Oil and a splash of Soy Sauce. Add two slices of wholemeal bread very lightly spread with real butter.

Baked potatoes – Wash the potatoes and prick all over. Place on a 1microwavable plate and for four large potatoes give them 10 mins in the microwave on full power. Please check them at this point as they may need more or less with your particular
microwave.

Fillings for the potatoes –

Tuna and sweetcorn with a teaspoon of low fat mayonnaise.

Cheese and beans

Prawns and lighter mayo but not swimming in it

Stir fried vegetables with half a tin of tomatoes, cheddar cheese grated on top.

Again add a salad to the plate for a balanced, healthy meal.
