If you see a graph of anything, the stock market, results on just about anything, you will never see a straight line up, nothing goes up without having a little pause or even a dip, before re-starting the journey back up again. This applies to even the best of success stories.

When you are training with us, you are very likely to improve quickly and keep improving steadily. What happens when the dips come though? When you start doubting yourself even after initial success? Or even several examples of success? The good news is that these doubts happen to ALL of us.

This is exactly the time to appreciate what you have achieved so far. Have you evidence of how well you have done? I’m absolutely positive you have. What allowed you to succeed in the first place? What did you do to excel? What are the little things you used to do so you made such a massive change to yourself?

These are the questions you must ask yourself when you hit a dead end, and it seems so tough to get out of.

Are you self-sabotaging? Do you allow yourself a certain level of success, then sabotage it all because you don’t think you are worthy of being successful? I know this is very common indeed.

Rather than get buried by the dips and dead ends. Re-assess the situation and ask yourself rationally what’s changed? Do you stress eat when problems and pressure arises in life? If so, can you find another way to let off steam? Many people have a stress in their life and they act irrationally and either eat or drink more when that happens.

A blow out is not a problem, but when that blow out ends up going on for a week or two, then it could turn into a month of eating rubbish or drinking too much.

Be very aware of the obstacles and challenges of your journey are not always exercising and eating right. They are often when “life” happens. Recovering from those stresses quickly, and not by “eating” your way out of it are crucial.

All the stresses in my life, i have found that going for a run, doing some weights have helped enormously and clear out a lot of the “bad stuff”. Having the right strategy is vital to keep your success journey on an upward curve that never stops apart from the odd blip that we ALL get.

Having good health, looking and feeling your best, being stronger mentally are things we all strive for.

The costs are greater for getting into shape long term but ones worth paying for. I’m not talking about money, i’m talking about effort, commitment and dedication.

Our workouts require more energy, focus and sweat than most. The process is filled with more hard work and sometimes failure. You always learn from failure and you become all the better for it. You may take longer to do it but you will stay in shape longer too because it will be much more sustainable.

Training well, eating right and resting enough is all part of the process you need to go through .When you fall in love with the process, you will love what the process creates. It’s not easy becoming fit and healthy or everyone would be doing it.

Everyone wants to get into the great shape some of our members have achieved, but not many of the general public are willing to sacrifice the effort needed to get there and become great themselves.

Everyone is looking for their 5 minutes of fame these days, but not many are willing to give years to their health and body.

Most people think that some of our greatest transformations were “overnight” successes. There’s no such thing as an overnight success, the way to success is working over many months, many years, showing up every day, you do the work and you are dedicated to your craft every day, you put your heart and soul into your work as you strive for excellence.

You will never ever create perfection, but you know you will want to come as close to it as possible. You fail, you improve, you grow, you face countless challenges, and tons of rejection that makes you doubt yourself and sometimes want to quit, but you don’t, you keep working hard, you stay positive and persevere through it all with resilience, determination and a lot of hope and faith, then you MAKE IT.

Everyone wants to know how and the world says “where have you been”, and you say “i’ve been here all along working hard, keeping my head down and hopefully getting better day by day”!

To everyone else, you are an overnight success, but to yourself the journey continues and you want to make your next month and year your best work, no matter what you’ve accomplished in the past.

Committing yourself to long term success is a state of mind, but to get there you have to make the start and battle through the ups and downs until you reach the standard you always knew you were capable of getting to.

Once you are comfortable in your own skin, you can set your OWN records, your own shape, your own progress, your own level of happiness and on YOUR own terms.

It’s pointless comparing yourself to others, because we are ALL different.

We have a massive variety of individuals each with their own gifts, their own challenges and their own different situation.

Someone who has just had a baby (we have many), will have far different goals than someone who plays professional sport. Comparison is pointless.

Someone who has high blood pressure will have different goals to someone who wants to raise their self-esteem and self-confidence.

Someone who is struggling with their mind to function day to day will have different goals to someone who is 70 years of age and suffering from osteoporosis.

Someone who is 14 stone who wants to look exactly someone 8 stone is unrealistic and the heavier individual is not celebrating how good she can look if she maxed out her OWN potential. Comparison will eat you up if you let it especially when it’s pointless and always self-defeating.

We have members looking amazing at 8 stone AND a few stone heavier full stop.

Mark lewis will bust me up pulling that tyre up the hill in terms of time, but instead of crucifying myself inside about it, i celebrate the fact that i can do it myself, and doing it, EVEN if it takes me much longer, it is a victory for ME.

The message is to be happy what you are doing, appreciate the progress you have and ARE making, how far you have come in ALL ways since you started and celebrate all the big things you can still do and ASPIRE to do and are totally within your reach.

All of this makes you far happier in your own skin, puts a sense of perspective on everything we do and totally celebrates you as an individual, what makes you unique and how you stand out as someone who may have overcome the odds and the chances are that many ADMIRE you either publicly or from afar.

Monday, 16th May

The structure and foundation of what we do is based on professional sport and maximising your performance. We change our programmes based on science and it has the nice bonus of keeping your mind fresh and your body constantly improving, which i’m always excited about.

We have to push through our weights programme or your body won’t change shape for the better, simple as that. Weight training fights osteoporosis too, and is the very best strategy for protecting and increasing bone density. It will always be in our programme.

We don’t do mindless cardio sessions either with half hour on this, half hour on that on some kind of ill thought out “fat burning” programme that actually never works and has no basis in science.

Our cardio is tough, high in terms of effort and intensity and short in duration. It’s very physical demanding but offers more outstanding results.

The outside activities such as tyre flipping, sledgehammers, prowlers, ladders, hurdles, steps etc are also mega productive, and if you avoid them, then your results are not going to be as huge as they could be.

It says it all josh sheehan, who is a professional footballer with swansea city went through exactly the challenging weights programme this morning and some heavy cardio too. If it challenges him to the max, then you know it’s going to challenge you on a deep level and it’s going to hit you like a runaway train.

The secret? Show up REGULARLY and get through this programme a minimum of 3 times a week, 4 being a bonus, some do more. If you don’t attend, then you’re not going to benefit. A blindingly obvious statement but it needs to be constantly said.

We are not a normal gym, we are in the business of delivering massive results and all of this makes a massive amount of effort from us and you. This is what we do, often in an uncompromising way and always will do because it works full stop. Opportunity exists right now for you, stay positive and smash your way through to more blown away, one of a kind results!!!

Sunday, 15th May

Most people when they start with us are only focused about losing the fat or weight that they are most concerned about, and not a lot else.

This is frustrating in a way because there’s so many more benefits from exercise and eating right than just losing body fat or losing weight. We are so convinced of this that we never weigh anyone, only measuring blood pressure, resting heart rate, body fat, waist and hips as weighing only can be a false indicator on your true progress.

We encourage everyone to focus on the process of self-improvement, the actual journey, rather than the losing of weight only.

Making long-lasting, lifetime changes takes time. We try to make sure you do it safely in the least amount of time, but we try to help you understand what you are doing along the way to your body, how your body reacts and what you need to do to keep the progress sustainable.

We always strongly discourage quick fixes and crash diets because all the weight comes straight back on once you finish it. Plus you won’t learn anything from crash dieting, you won’t learn anything about yourself and you miss out of the great journey that comes from getting in shape gradually and making it a long term lifestyle change.

If all your focusing on is the scales, then you need to change your focus right now. I need people who look great at 11 stone and those who are overweight at 10 stone. The scales never takes into account your frame, the lean muscle you are carrying, time of the month, your athletic goals and many people hold water for different reasons for example.

Focus instead of what can you do today to move closer to your goals? What choices can you make? How can you be more positive about your life and what positive action can you take to improve it?

Start forgetting about the scale and start celebrating your non-weight, non-scale victories along the way. The more you do this, the more you realise it’s more about the journey than just losing weight.

Examples would be
1. Getting enough sleep for a change, starting your day with energy instead of having restless, interrupted sleepless nights.
2. Fitting into your favourite clothes for the first time in a long time.
3. Running up a flight of stairs without being exhausted, instead of struggling one step at a time.
4. Keeping up with your kids/grandkids playing for the first time in years.
5. Having a strong medical with the doctor instead of constantly having worries with blood pressure, heart issues/cholesterol etc.
6. Being able to do everything around the house instead of struggling to do the lawn even, move furniture etc
7. Have the confidence to do your first 5k, 10k or charity bike ride.

Change your focus, forget about your weight and realise that your non-weight victories are your most important things that will really change your life.
