Trying to find our “perfect situation” or waiting around for it never works.

Waiting around for our “perfect job” never happens. If we just concentrate on doing great work over many years without looking for instant recognition of doing a great job, then better opportunities and jobs tend to find US over time.

Waiting around to get fit and healthy, and somehow waiting for the “perfect time” is a classic way of never doing anything about it.

There’s nothing to stop you going for a walk right now, and going on a slightly tougher walk tomorrow, that’s progress, and it follows on from the most simple of starts.

In my experience, those who face the biggest obstacles usually achieve the most with exercise, because they appreciate what they are able to do now through their hard work, and remember how far they have come.

We can all plan and talk a good game, but until we actually start getting on with the DOING without looking for instant rewards, then absolutely nothing gets done and we will likely never start.

The so called perfect situation always happens when hard work becomes engrained in you, when you do the unglamorous work without complaining about it or looking to take credit for it, when you constantly look to improve, and you make consistent high quality efforts because deep down you want to do it and create great work.

No point in wishing for things to happen so the time is “just right”, just starting in the first place is the most important life-changing step.

They say wisdom comes with age, and we need to learn lessons from our senior members.

“If i knew then what i know now” is a statement many of us have made, and we hear this mostly off senior members because they have most experience of life.

All of those senior members have realised through personal experience that getting your health right is vital.

How about taking that advice right now?

The best advice i have ever had off people with more money than they would ever need, is that HEALTH comes first. Anyone who has experienced ill health would swap all that money for just being healthy and out of pain again, i have heard this so many times that it really hit home a long time ago.

Learning to act on great life-changing advice at the precise moment you hear it is a valuable habit, so you never forget it.

So you maybe 71, 51, or 21, but heeding this advice will literally change your life. Treating your body with care and attention is the number one thing you should do, and sets the foundation for everything you want to achieve.

When you are healthy, you have much more energy so you can do more things for yourself, and just as importantly for others. Getting healthy is the least selfish thing you can do, you will always be there for others, you will get much more done and you can contribute to society much more.

Don’t waste another day, don’t play games with your health, treat your body with respect and use your healthy body to take you anywhere you want to go, and to anything you want to achieve.

You have to know your driving force for exercising and eating right and it has to be fresh in your mind daily or you will often forget it, and this will contribute heavily to you dropping in and out of exercising.

Put it on your wall, put it as a screensaver, tell someone close to you to remind you daily, whatever you need to do, just keep those big reasons why you need to change and keep on changing as close as possible to you.

None of us wake up super-motivated from the first minute every day.

We have rituals, we have the things we do on a daily basis that set us up to perform at our highest levels.

Apart from the obvious physical benefits, use exercise as your wake up to think more clearly, to put you in a mindset to take action, to get you in the mood to have a go at the things you have been putting off, to make you ambitious and dedicated to making the changes you deep down really want to make that bring fulfilment into your life.

Deep down reasons will always carry you through when the going gets tough, when people start putting you off your goals, when it’s easier just to give up, when your self-belief is tested to the max, your driving force has to be there and it has to be unshakeable because those reasons are so strong and meaningful.

We all have reasons why we do anything, start with the WHY when it comes to exercise and living healthy lifestyle, and you’re a far more likely to make it sustainable for life.

Workouts at this time of year are like “flushing” everything out of your body, getting all the bad stuff out as it steadily begins to creep its way in, but getting it out before it causes all the stuff you don’t want to happen.

Here’s your choice

1. You carry on as you are, you dig deep every session and you keep hitting and progressing through your workouts, and feeling sensational and alive afterwards.

Or

2. You give in and you don’t exercise, you go through the negative side effects of feeling like rubbish for a couple of weeks, then a month of feeling like rubbish after xmas getting your body “up to speed”.

I went through 10 days of not exercising over xmas when i was 19, needless to say i will never do it again, my asthma was back in force and i have never felt so terrible on that first workout back!

I literally said “never again” and i sincerely meant it!!!

Your choice.
