Tues 9th Sept

We all need to be tested, and we all need to be less comfortable at times.

My journey of using the bike for the gym had another test today with the heavy rain, but once you decide you have made a commitment, then it’s easy not to back out of it, and it hardens my resolve, especially when I imagine people betting on me to fail and give in to the car or lifts.

Being on a bike makes me hungry again, takes me back to the days when life was much more of a grind, and when there were plenty of rainy cold days when I could be out all day in.

Making ourselves too comfortable doesn’t do us any good and makes us soft, and less resilient to potential challenges in life which surely will come at some stage or another.

Lofty exciting goals are great, but the process isn’t always glamorous to get there, is often riddled with doubt “shall we continue”, “shouldn’t we take it easy now”, “why out all the effort in, my friends don’t do it”, but great things and great health is only achieved through some struggle and some discomfort, and when we get through that apparent pain, we come out the other side MUCH better for it in ALL ways.

Great health does take some discomfort, it means you showing up sometimes when you don’t even want to, and it takes you realising that exercise will be the spark that can literally change your mood, change your state of mind and create a resilience in you perhaps you never thought you had.

Thursday 4th sept

Do you use the term”one life I have so I had better eat how I want, I had better “enjoy” myself more by drinking most days, and there’s no point in doing ANY workouts”! It’s a WASTE of time end of story”!!!!

Whilst balance is important, that’s the quickest way to shorten your life, and YES it is all about quality of life.

To live a high quality of life, you need to be in great health, or you will likely be back and forth to the doctor/hospital, that takes a HUGE CHUNK of your time.

A poor diet, not working out and listening to these like minded people will seem great for a while, it will seem great to say “up yours” to the world, but complaining about everything and never appreciate your moments on earth is a massive waste of time, and is pretty damn miserable in most people’s eyes.

It’s not so ‘glamorous’ after all is it?

When you are healthy, it does take some work and on a daily basis. You do have to commit to eating well at least 80% of the time, you do have to get rid of a lot of the negative influences you have in life, and you do have to workout at least 3 times a week to keep your body functioning as well as it should, to avoid needing to go to see the doctor every few weeks seemingly and to avoid pain in your body, and to FEEL better full stop, inside and out.

We all have choices and being healthy is all about creating much more time in your life, and on the stuff you want to do and enjoy doing without any restrictions that bad health will impose upon you..
