None of us want to think of us as the Titanic blissfully unaware we are heading for the iceberg.

But all recent NHS studies show the majority of us are classed as obese, which the NHS says causes at least 12 different diseases that will likely kill us/or incapacitate us, as well as a very low quality of life along the way.

We are all going to die of course but the quality of life we have along the way is mostly up to us.

Based on years of experience, I know if anyone who shows up the gym regularly even with a struggle to move and very poor health, they will eventually move heck of a lot better within a short period of time, and feel MUCH better about themselves.

Last night, there was a programme exposing “READY MEALS” saying that the World Health Organisation has said that 85% of them should not be eaten or marketed to children as they were so unhealthy for them.

As our population gets more unhealthy and unwell, it was no coincidence they said that these meals were increasing market share by record numbers every year because of their convenience.

Most of us grew up eating normal vegetables and natural foods and very little “ultra-processed foods”. But the adding of all the salt, chemicals, sugars etc has made us rely on ever-sweeter and addictive foods that are literally making us dig our graves with our teeth.

Many of us look for “wonder pharmaceutical drugs” to solve short term obesity related problems, but if the patient gives exercising, eating fresher foods and a supportive environment a true go over a few months, then the results can be staggering, life-changing, radically healing and much more powerful than any drugs without the always worrying side-effects.

The pharmaceutical companies won’t make a profit on this way of life though, but you will not only gain your health back, but your self-esteem, self-confidence and give yourself a mental health boost that would have been destroyed by your health deterioration too.

You don’t have to keep heading towards the iceberg, and a decision to take action daily from now on can literally save your life.

Harsh words/knives in the back/tough lessons/discouragement/bitterness/not wishing well are often our greatest motivators and TO BE EXPECTED in life, and we can always use them as fuel. When I got to 30, I was asked repeatedly, “everything is good for you now, but REALLY how long can you keep this up?!!!”-thanks you that made me work a lot harder.

At 35, I became aware of a chrous of opinion that I was soon to become a “cripple” (I detest that word, their words not mine), because I was running with multiple people every day 7 days a week, “it will/could never last”, anyway a recession is coming too-thank you for inspiring me to change my running shoes every 8 weeks, best advice I could ever give, I would get to bed earlier and eat even better (best health insurance I would EVER have) .

At 40 I would be “too old”, who would want a 40 year old trainer?!!!-“the economy is bad too, your time is up, after all “chains gyms” rule the roost (despite most of them being in heavy debt the financial times would tell me. THANK YOU for making me seek the world’s best trainers and learning directly from them-that was a blessing

At 45, I was told “where are all those ‘fancy machines'”, when I told them pro athletes don’t use those useless machines, they train a different way, because many machines don’t radically improve or replicate real life movements, many people looked blank at me, hypnotised by the status quo they had experienced (just like the Titanic on their way to the iceberg you cannot see). I was even more determined to train people the right way.At 50, I had long discovered true freedom by not caring what anyone thought (I only value opinions off people I respect).

There will always be bad economies and recessions (I have experienced at least 4-5 but good businesses will survive any economy), trust your gut, stay the course, keep showing up, transform your people to an unreasonable level of success and keep believing ANYTHING is possible.Doubts in your ability happen to EVERYONE, keep your knowledge high, stay humble, keep learning off good people and continue to serve and be useful to your people as if your life depended on it.

I believe your body keeps score, and every day you need to do your best to win the game.

A heavy weekend and our body demands we flush it all out, mondays and today tuesday workouts are absolutely essential to ensure that happens.

Mental health struggles on a monday and tuesday DEMAND we get our endorphins in our brain up and get that chemical balance in our favour again-OUR WORKOUT makes that happen plus great human interaction..

If we are using takeaways in the week as our preferred fuel source, that is doing absolutely nothing for our mental health, nothing for our digestive system, nothing for our energy levels, nothing for our wellbeing-somebody had better tell you that.

The body keeps score and you had do ALL YOU CAN to win the game, and the game is EVERY DAY.

Keep losing that battle and it’s not only a short term feeling awful result, do it long enough and bad health will become a way of life for you, frequent trips to the doctor, frequent problems with mobiltiy and pain invading your body.

You have it in control and it’s down to YOU so make it happen because you CAN win every day with some effort and attitude.
