Our routines make us or break us.

You know how good it feels to stay in routine, training regular which inspires us to eat well, whjch naturally leads us over time to sleep well-the magic combination.

But things happen which lead us OUT of routine. One missed session becomes a week off, then a month off and we struggle to get back into it.

Our food which was a high standard becomes random and rubbish starts entering our home, our workplace and car eating on the go.Remember why you started, why our great routines make us so strong, have great endurance and how we become full of energy and also remember how easy it is to fall out of schedule and experience deteriorating health too Routines matter and shape our now and our futures.

If you are outraged, angry, furious about a situation, then we have all reacted with haste in the past and often regretted our words or actions or both. Controlling our own mind is sometimes the hardest thing, and when you add on outside influences, who haven’t had our best interests at heart, it soon becomes even harder.

I know most of you have experienced the “what the heck are you going to the gym for?”, “you are fit enough, “please don’t lose any more weight you will look ‘ill’ otherwise”, “you’re too old to exercise”, “the gym has made you less ‘fun’”, are all statements you have been familiar with despite them being lies and not true, and the words of people who don’t exercise themselves and are intent on others’ not showing them up.

Exercising isn’t some kind of “leap of faith”, it’s strongly based in medical science which overwhelmingly backs it for good health and for sound mind.

It’s tough to keep our own minds sometimes though even when we have overwhelming evidence what we are doing is absolutely right.

This is when our “circle of friends” has to be addressed. If you look hard enough, it’s the same old “friends” or “frenemies” who put us off doing everything beneficial or stop us taking advantage of big opportunities that come along in our lives.

When this keeps happening, it’s time to ditch them or at least give them a much wider birth and cut off any negative influence they may still have on you.

The influence of a small, tight but encouraging and positive influencing group of friends can never been overstated.

We have all been there and it will become one of the most powerful and positive things you can ever do to improve your life in every single area.

Always believe in the process.

Don’t look too far ahead, know what you have to do this day, get on with it, get through it, and you have already won your day.

People often look too far ahead, what’s going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, when the reality is all of that is out of your control.

If you live in the today, and focus on what has got you this far, you are already winning and reaping the benefits. Nobody can look forward to another day, see this day as a gift and you can only do what you can do.

You KNOW already that your workout is going to make you feel so much better, I see that on so many people’s faces at the gym every day.

You know that nourishing yourself with healthy food will not only make you look better, but it will make you FEEL better too.

All of this is a process, and you could easily say it’s self-discipline, you are not eating pie and chips from the chippy, not down the pub all day, you are disciplined enough to have habits that are not only beneficial, but TRANSFORMATIONAL especially when you consider that most people start with zero exercise experience, usually eat poorly and feel as they don’t have any discipline, the effect can truly be amazing.

Love the process because it’s doing you heck of a lot of good physically AND mentally.

September 26th

September always signifies the new season but also the fact you were/are IN THE GAME.

Whether you were in school, college, work or retirement, you wanted to be “amongst the action” in some way, because you wanted to feel as if you knew what was going on in your community, and your purpose in life was/is really strong.

This morning signifies that, great classes outside in the rain and quite a lot of wind, but no drop off in enthusiasm.

Your immune system has never needed your workouts so badly, never needed the fresh air so badly, never needed the realisation that you are right in the centre of your community and you love the fact that the vibe is so strong.

The effort you planned on making will always be far more when you are actually at the gym because those around you will automatically lift you up to do better to live by a better standard and lift you to a place that you may not have got to left to your own devices.

Fresh weather, fresh attitudes and fresh results-it’s all in place for you to do fantastic things!!

Thursday, 22nd sept

There’s a shocking recent stat that 70% of americans are on at least one medication (and we can’t be far behind), and that society has normalised medication for all sorts of ailments.

Some are necessary of course, but many are used in many patients’ case it is said because the patients get to “depend on the warm and calm feeling it gives them”.

Dependency on these drugs and medication can lead to a whole host of problems down the line of course but shows how society is going.I have seen many, many individuals come to the gym on medication of all kinds, and their ultimate aim is to get off them if possible. I am no doctor I tell them of course, but what I do know is if you start showing up regular and exercising, your body internally is going to start to change.Once your body gets used to working out regularly, it starts to crave healthy food and can only function well on fresh, natural food.

Nothing wrong with a treat but the basis of your food intake needs to be food that is actually going to do you good and properly nourish you, not some ready meal that has been preserved by salt for weeks or even months.Your body then starts to respond amazingly to this magic combination.

Then a funny thing happens I’ve observed in everyone. Your mind starts to find it’s spark again, it’s like someone can walk into the gym in heck of a mood, irritable as heck and then as soon as they get their bodies moving, their whole demeanour changes for the better. By the time they leave the gym, they are literally a different person!Throw a very positive supportive environment on top that and that person who was relying on medication all of these years, can find another spark in their life over time, maybe one they haven’t recognised for years. In a time when being on medication has been “normalised”, the magic I see every day whether its Will Jones training 5 times a week at 87 or a 9 year old kid starting for the first time, should never be underestimated. No medication gives you confidence, self esteem, awakens your true fighting spirit and increases your sense of wellbeing.

We as humans are always capable of remarkable comebacks, all we need to trust ourselves, see the process through and enjoy the incredible benefits.
