2nd October

What really keeps you young?

You are young if you still look forward to things in life, you are excited about your future and you still have big dreams and aspirations, and you keep having a go no matter what even if things don’t always go your way.

You surround yourself with positive people who want to get the most out of their life, and those who encourage you to keep going , keep getting stronger, as it’s so valuable in anti-ageing and to keep feeling better.

You move your body out of choice every day, you get fresh air, and you are grateful for your health and everything around you-YOU ARE YOUNG no matter what your “numerical age”.

You are OLD if you think your “best days” are behind you (much more people say this than you think), you complain and moan about “life used to be better” years ago, you complain you have nothing to look forward to and how life has passed you by, and you gravitate towards people who feel the same.

You admire those who are more active even when they are much older than you, but you write yourself off (often without real evidence) saying “I could never do that”, and continue a life of eating poorly and moving very little, which only invites more pain into your body.

Being young versus being “old” often has little to do with numerical age in adulthood, it has much more to do with attitude, lifestyle habits and the company we keep either lifting us up or dragging us down.

29th sept 2023

Thanks already for the extensive round of testing again this morning, your patience was appreciated.

From it, you can see what your strengths are and how your weaknesses give us strong clues on your future course of action at the gym. These tests can be humbling so please don’t take it personally, we ALL struggle on the movements, but from it we get strong feedback and much greater ability to bring our weaker areas up much quicker.NONE of us want poor balance but we are actively trying to get it better every workout.

There is no time to waste.I’m guessing all of you love working on your strong points, and hate working on your weak areas, but we need to do what we need to do to make you a much more complete athlete.

If we can move better and without pain, our present and long term future looks far more attractive and exciting.

Nobody should live in pain and it’s our daily habits can make us or break us.Buy into what we do fully and your movement ability will go up dramatically, levels of pain in your body will drastically reduce and things you always put off will become possible over time.

If you avoid the stuff you are weaker at, then lingering pain will hang around, and nobody can be really happy with that. When you enter the gym, embrace the facts that you need to get stronger yes on weights, but also your movement ability needs to go up (and that applies to ALL of us).

Testing underway!!

We started tonight extensively testing all members with our new world class screening system, it does take time you will notice but it WILL make you get stronger, have less injuries, identify your weaknesses, and long term make you much more likely to make better decisions on your training, and for MOST of you CONTINUE on a very good path.

I don’t want to ever be a gym where we throw a few dumbbells/kettlebells and hope for the best, I’m certain that doesn’t make the most of your big efforts.

Science moves on and we will be spending even more time with you getting you better so bear with us while we test all of you.

It’s a lot more work for us but I’m guessing you come to us at the gym to train hard, train right, train with intelligence and not hurt yourself by copying endless videos that are not likely to work for you relentlessly with no real philosophy to get safe and consistent results.

We are committed to doing the RIGHT THING end we will see it through.

This is the REAL way to STAY SAFE with your immune system, not relying on medication to rule your life and make you feel completely out of it, its about making you move better without pain, moving much better now and into your senior years, everyone should get treated as an athlete no matter what standard you are, we are committed to that and we are going to continue to nail it every time.

I am 100% sure this is right for all of you, and this is the direction we will be going in relentlessly get you performing at a higher level in life.

Congratulations to the many members who went through it tonight already. Tomorrow is going to be another huge day.

26th sept-movement matters

Our ability to move as a child is often second to none, then fast forward that all the way to being in a nursing home, and you literally have opposite ends of the spectrum.

Your freedom of movement as a child seems as if it will never end, but usually its going to be our habits over decades of our life that will dictate how quick we slow down, how quick we lose our strength and the moment our bodies start to seize up (a certainty unless you look after yourself)..

We love to move as a kid, we don’t think about it, but often once we start working, we become “too tired” to do anything, maybe “next week” we tell ourselves.

This will go on often for decades until warning signs that happening.

Stiffness in our body soon turns to real pain, then we have two choices. The doctor will medicate us so our pain is numbed, or we begin to get ourselves out of that hole by slowly starting to move more again, and do it often, however little that may seem at times.

Our movement work at the gym stepped up another gear or two today, and be the end of the week, it’s likely to go up a few more gears as a brand new testing method starts along with brand new equipment to get it done. We will be living by a world class standard as usual.

Many of us have experienced loved ones entering a nursing home and realise hardly ever anyone gets out of there. My father for instance went in there walking, then on a stick, then he was in chair being pushed around, and then bed bound. That story will resonate with many of you, but it shows the impact of not moving around, not exercising anymore.

It’s a one way street in those kinds of places but we can do plenty to stop us going in there so soon.

Exercise and eat well to not only to look good, you need it to live longer, AND to live a much higher quality of life which is the vital part, full of energy, full of great movement, no pain in your body, and keep yourself  as close as you can to that high standard until the day you die.

20th sept 2023

Most people hate “bosses” in life and with good reason. They hate people walking around with a clipboards, they hate “bosses” dumping lots of work on your desk all in the name of “giving you extra responsibility”, often work they don’t want to do themselves. I call them “cowboys” too because they never lead by example.

“Leaders” on the other hand are completely different. They are willing to do exactly the hard thing that you are doing, they are willing to come home tired too, and they are fully invested in the same purpose that you are in your job, no excuses, never a lazy ba….d, and generally willing to “muck in, no complaints”.

I see kids coming into the gym, but often are de-motivated to do really well because the parent doesn’t want to muck in and exercise themselves and they will daily see that example or lack of it, as the parent has become an “excuse machine”, and guess what, the kid becomes eventually an excuse machine themselves.

Then they go back into a household full of white bread, ready meals, takeaways/fast food and rubbish that would struggle to fuel a 5 yard walk,  a disaster zone when it comes to making a “healthier lifestyle change”.

The parent needs to become a leader and lead from the front, eating healthier and exercising regularly-ZERO excuses.

I often see grandparents and parents at the gym who are stunning and inspirational examples of great health (there are lots of you), and their kids/grandkids you can tell are awestruck at their achievements, and exercise and eating right are fundamentals often through generations, leadership at its finest filtering all the way through because the right message is always sent, no endless trips to the doctors, healthy food is the medicine in the household and good workouts are mandatory quietly fighting off illness and disease  every day, not an option or something to be avoided.

We all love leaders and NOT bosses. We salute you all!!
