Imagine how well you would do if you spoke more positively to yourself. You backed yourself instead of backing AWAY from life’s challenges (which are really opportunities).

We all have these voices in our heads, and most of them are negative. We can’t do it, we shouldn’t even try, what would so and so say, we aren’t good enough, we don’t deserve any success or deserve to be happy etc etc.

Imagine if we ignored all of that and just had a go?

Just threw ourselves into it and don’t worry if we win or lose.

Commit finally to showing up all the time, and letting our bodies guide us.

We won’t be having fantastic personal bests all the time but NOBODY does, but we will have some throughout the year, and that will be a sign we are improving greatly and we will attain results we will be very proud of, plus feel amazing along the way.

LIfe never goes in a straight line, there will be many zig zags, many ups and downs but if we keep showing up, then the sky will always be limit for us!!!

Most people remember their very strongest times of their lives, physically, mentally, emotionally, the whole thing. Confidence came with it along with belief, almost nothing was off the table and life was pretty exciting.

Then we remember our weakest times, when we struggled, we had more worries, we would avoid challenges sometimes, we would rather have “a quiet life”, and we would put off potential opportunity until “tomorrow”.

This morning was the start of another new programme at the gym, the same old questions persist, will anyone like it? Is it too easy or too hard? Is there too little or too much? Will some movements be off limits to too many people?

Thankfully, it was a strong start today, and these plans are always designed to make you your strongest physically, but also mentally because you have three weeks to master it, to get better at it, to keep facing down big challenges and be all the better for it.

You can’t help develop more confidence and inner strength if you can do well through this new programme, you cannot help develop more resilience not only to training but to everything else in life too.

In life we are often faced with stress and mentally we need to be on top of our game to deal with it well.

We don’t get strong mental strength from simply “wishing for it” or being only part the way in, we get it from proving ourselves, proving we still have it and being ALL in, we prove to ourselves we can get stuck in and even if its a little uncomfortable to start with, we can and WILL get through it and come out the other side knowing we are strong, very capable and ready for anything in life..

I know I can control my attitude, I can control my effort, I can control my efforts and my behaviour for the most part.

I have no control of anyone else’s opinions, their moods, their actions or other people’s mistakes-in general I leave them go on their own path, and leave that play out for them because I won’t change that or have any power over it-ALL of this is outside my control.

I know what works, what doesn’t, what’s a fad or gimmick, and the overwhelming power of doing the right exercise and rehab will have on anyone who comes into the gym.

We are all capable of doing only a few things really well and my full concentration goes into that.

Anytime you spread your attention too thinly, you lose your ability to do even one thing well, and you start worrying about things that don’t really matter at the expense of what you really want in life.

Control what you can control, the rest is not worth worrying about.

16th Oct 2024

Nobody should ever make you get fit and healthy. Nobody should march you into the gym and say “do it!”. It’s got to come from YOU!!!

You aren’t “getting away with it” if you are eating rubbish food every day, nobody really cares if you have a “sneaky drink” most nights or takeaway for that matter.

Nobody cares either if you spend most of your life sitting down and not active (sitting in your car, on the settee, laying down on the bed etc), because most people are concerned with their OWN life.

What I will say though that lifestyle will catch up with you.

Being inactive, eating ultra processed food/ready meals etc will accelerate the ageing process, will bring a lot of pain into your body, will play havoc with your mental health, will seriously hurt your self confidence and self esteem, and the only positive thing that could come from all of that is you be forced to take action (sooner rather than later), to reverse some of those devastating life changing effects of living an unhealthy lifestyle.

Change is always possible and if you go about it the right way determined to take action continuously, all good things physically and mentally will begin to happen again, but the change starts internally with YOU really wanting to do it.
