Monday, 3rd November

An old saying is that you need to be willing to sacrifice what you are for what you could become.

That moment when you become ultimately successful is amazing when you change your body and mind for the better. That journey though is full of bumps on the road that often tries to throw you off course.

Here’s what I notice just before our most successful members get the huge results they want, something really unique happens.

If you rewind slightly before they get over the finishing line, just before they were about to achieve their greatest successes, they too also go through the self-doubt, the thoughts whether they could carry on or not, whether they were really making the staggering changes that everyone was telling them they were.

Most people we train are very humble people, and sometimes they only believe their success when their clothes are suddenly falling down on them!

They only believe it when people they haven’t seen for a while ask them what the heck they have been doing! The change is often so dramatic that it makes friends comment so much on a regular basis.

It’s a fact that most people when they try to achieve anything in life often quit when their victory and success is only a yard or so away, the final bit of self-belief and seeing it through are so important to complete the journey.

Success comes when you stick it out a bit longer, even when times are tough and you think you can’t get through it.

Change is often uncomfortable but change is the essence of life, and is the main reason why people ask to join our gym. They want change in their lives, and it’s our job to deliver that change, even if it’s very tough at times, I know the individual concerned at the end though will be extremely happy with the results and very proud of their achievements.

Sunday, 5th October

Everyone we train needs to keep focusing on succeeding all the time and never get caught up in things that are going to throw you off course.

It’s very easy sometimes to sometimes get into a negative mindset that many people you know follow.

It’s easy to start “rationalizing” why missing your exercise sessions has somehow become “acceptable” now.

It’s easy to slip and eat something totally full of sugar and fat that you weren’t even planning on eating, especially in the week when you’re trying to eat well.

This is why you should already be planning on Monday’s big start to the week.

Getting into a good routine from Monday to Friday and planning ahead can make the difference between failing and succeeding in your programme.

A good idea is to map out what Monday should look like in terms of exercise and what you need to eat and drink.

If you have your food in school or work, have you taken steps to prepare it tonight or first thing tomorrow?

You know if you don’t, then the school/works canteen is unlikely to offer many healthy choices and this will automatically put you on the backfoot right at the beginning of the week when its so vital to start off with a bang.

Your workouts won’t be so good, you won’t feel energised and your desire to exercise will be nowhere near as good if you don’t feed your body well.

Is your kit bag in the boot ready so you can go the gym straight from work?

Have a great Monday and the rest of the week is likely to be good too.

Simple planning ahead makes it much easier to get the impressive results you want, those who never plan are the ones who slip back all the time wondering why a healthy lifestyle can be so hard.

Tuesday, 2nd September

Practicing doesn’t make you perfect, but practicing a lot WILL make you attain a peak performance more often than not.

If you look at your habits every day, then you will realise why you are being successful or not by now surely.

What do you practice most in your day and week?

When was life working out best for you, and which habits did you used to practice on a daily basis back then?

What were you doing? Who were you hanging around with back then?

What were you eating? How often were you getting your training sessions in on a a weekly basis?

Who did you learn most from on a daily basis to create new productive habits? Did you have a coach back then and were you in any kind of programme to get the best out of yourself?

So from this you should be able to realise which habits work best for you, what inspired you to get into shape in the first place and isn’t it time you replicated all of those habits again and got into fantastic shape, both mentally and physically?

You know it’s going to take a lot of hard work to be at your best physically and mentally again, but dig out that roadmap again of how you were at your peak once in your life, and you will soon be getting the very best out of yourself once again.

Your daily and weekly habits will determine how successful you are full stop.

Wednesday, 27th August

If you keep the word “progress” as part of your daily and weekly thinking, then you are always likely to improve.

Once you make the big changes in the first place, then the progress will naturally slow down a bit, but if you focus on making small little changes constantly, then the progress will never stop.

For example, if you have started this week without doing a big shop, then its likely you won’t have the foods in the house necessary for you to eat healthy and start the week off right. This is a simple thing you can get right every Saturday or

Sunday to make sure you do. This is a sign of progress.

Letting things interfere with your Monday training session (such as not even showing up) can make a big difference. Starting the week off right and starting off in an energetic way is vital. Your Monday workout needs to happen no matter what and will always make sure you progress.

If you go out regularly in the week for a meal and alcohol, as well as the weekend, then stopping drinking in the week, as well as choosing healthier options will make a massive difference.

If you drink and eat badly in the week, the next day you wont feel like training, or you definitely wont feel like training hard. Being conscious of what goes into your body especially in the week will give you another lot of big progress to your overall development.

Every week can mean progress if you put your mind to it, so being aware of what you eat and drink, as well as how strong and fast you are becoming and how long you can last at a high pace, should be part of your daily and weekly lives.

Thursday, 14th August

All of us are getting older, and the older we get, it becomes much more important that we carry on training.

We all got into training to change something, and I mean something we weren’t particularly happy with or even hated and were fed up with, or we wanted to get faster and stronger for sports, or we wanted to finally get into great shape after years of faddy diets and non-productive training.

With sustained effort, most of us manage to overcome obstacles that were holding us back in the past, and allow us to achieve a far brighter future through training smarter, using our time training better, and for the first time ever, treating our eating very seriously indeed.

We realise, or should realise by now that our bodies are not going to change without constant hard work, and trying things that constantly challenge us.

Hard work doesn’t mean beating the crap out of ourselves every day either! Many of us are not kids anymore, and it’s important not to train like one anymore.

After saying that though, all of us can train better than most people on the planet, if we get our bodies to continually adapt to an ever increasing workload, and reach an amazing level of health and fitness if we follow a few simple rules that are tried and tested.

Most of us will get to 70, 80, 90 and maybe 100 years of age one day, and decline is inevitable. THE SPEED OF DECLINE IS ENTIRELY UP TO YOU-remember this and you will think twice about the rubbish you may put into your mouth on a daily basis, be it food or drink! It may make you hit the gym a bit more often, and do a more complete workout, rather than making an excuse that you have to go early again instead of reaching your full potential and seeing I through.

Whatever your situation, training regularly and eating and drinking right will make a whole world of difference for the better.
