What need to happen-30th January

The obesity war which causes ill health and death from heart disease, cancer, diabetes and a host of other ailments has been going on for many, many years with 62% and rising of us in this country overweight due to our lifestyle, eating poor quality food, eating too much of it and not exercising enough.

Obesity has been identified as a major reason and risk factor by government medical advisors why there have been so many Covid deaths too.

It’s no coincidence that from poor lifestyles we have a mental health time bomb that is escalating at extremely alarming rates, that will have a devastating effect on our communities for generations to come.

As a gym, we are here to have a very positive and scientifically PROVEN effect on obesity and mental health, we have endless cases of transforming seemingly “hopeless” cases into very fit and health individuals with very positive mental health who make a very positive impact on society.

We are currently closed, our inside of the gym has one closed an incredible 31 out of 44 weeks since the first lockdown. This is NOT a moan as we have got on with it and done our best with the cards we were dealt, as many businesses won’t be coming back at all, with the predicted worst economic times in 300 years (government quote not mine).

We studied film making, and got great help in technology from the college many years ago, and created a state of the art home training service. In lockdown, this has been highly successful for us beaming our ever changing and every day different workouts into our members living rooms, it’s allowed them to stay in great health, and also encouraged many new to exercise individuals start to get their bodies AND MINDS right too.

We have a one of a kind 8000 square feet outside area, specifically made for exercising, a controlled environment with professional sporting facilities, fully instructed and perfect for social distancing too. We have proven we can do this successfully, and will re-open once we get the ok to do so from government. Outside training is scientifically proven to be very safe and we are raring to go, and we want to boost and inspire as many people as we can.

In the summer, the chancellor headlined saying people are “desperate for Nando’s”, and actively encouraged to go to any eatery you could, and still kept gyms closed, despite gyms having one of the lowest risks in the world according to official studies. I love eating out myself occasionally, but only where food is freshly made with love and pride (we have great ones in Burry Port).

Since the first lockdown, the big chains of fast food, have never closed. They are “essential” apparently.  At a time when obesity is a very dangerous risk factor in all our lives, we will never win the war with places of sickness dressed up as “heroes” of the pandemic with often big queues allowed daily.

The message MUST change and we need leadership.

We as a country have a unique opportunity to RESET the obesity war, we need PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY as well as government support.

Do more than government “soundbites” to encourage our people to exercise, ENCOURAGE them to get coached properly so they have a roadmap out of their own individual situation.

ENCOURAGE and support healthier and fresher restaurants, and tell the truth of the effects of eating fast food every day, nothing wrong with a treat occasionally of course, but spell it out to people how to feel better which will have a very powerful effect on their mental health too.

Our immune system and mental health are out most important asset, I have daily messages from people struggling, as well as parents of kids who are missing their exercise with us so much in all ways.

We need to make clear where we are going right now as a nation in these desperate times, and come out of it much fitter, stronger and in much better shape mentally too.

Measure our nation on it’s wellbeing, and to do that we show throw resources into places of wellness, exercise and eating facilities, that can only inspire a much better future for all our generations to come.

Friday 29th January

Congratulations on a great month in very difficult circumstances..This has been the hardest lockdown for many of you, for your children, for just about everyone.

The question is what did we have in place as a plan to get through it?Do we sit idle and worry about everything getting us down, use our time wisely or complain we have too much time? Nobody has too much time, that’s the one thing that we continually have less of, and you should cherish every second because you won’t get it back. Our online workouts though have made a big impression.

We have constantly upped them, raised the standard constantly based on your feedback after each session, and I believe now we are clearly in much better shape than we were at the start of the year. A lot of work goes into the sessions, and I appreciate your continual strong feedback, it means a lot.

We have a bigger sense of community online too, many more of you have bought into the concept (we have an all time high now working out with us online), and realised it’s not a “go through the motions” concept, it’s one of getting the best out of yourself, getting your mind in a great place, and replacing negativity, doom and gloom, with hope, positivity and a sense that we can come out of this with a lot more strength than we thought, because we have developed deeper levels of resilience when the easiest thing in the world was to keep moaning about our lot in life.

When many businesses, and individuals are struggling in a big way and some never coming back, we realise how lucky we are to have your overwhelming support, but we know full well we have to deliver an incredible product in return. The world has turned on it’s head, but we have turned on our heads too ,and we fully embrace the changes happening, and we remain committed to spreading the positivity of how exercise can literally change your life, and save lives too in these desperate times.

Thursday 21st January

We normally do 66 classes at the gym per week, now we are doing 5 a week LIVE in my living room but we have turned them into EVENTS, and we give them our heart and soul!!We have seen incredible progress from all of you who have taken part. We have won over hearts and minds, we have won over those who thought they could never get motivated online. We have won over those who thought they couldn’t work hard online or work the technology, it really is easy to do once we show you.We have made sure that those of you who do our online workouts have got your focus back, have razor sharp physical conditioning, and try workouts you never thought you would get through and thrive.I love having your messages all day, because literally it goes on all day and night usually. I love seeing your progress and make me mightily proud that we doing this TOGETHER, I respond to your feedback and constantly tweak the workouts to what works and what maybe doesn’t.At the heart of it all is the strong exercise principles we need to deliver to you based on science, agility, strength, balance, endurance, and coordination, all delivered with ZERO stress on your joints!!!Thursday will be big, let’s go with all our energy, passion, enthusiasm and drive and make a massive one!!!

Thursday 21st January

Live with hope today, and leave your anxiety behind. Live with hope today that your pain will leave your body by you moving more and easing the stress on your joints, and leaving your “coulda, shoulda, woulda” moments behind. Now is the time to make it happen finally.Living with hope means you believe better things are coming, and it will happen as long as you keep taking daily action. Life is not perfect, sometimes it can be like snakes and ladders, sometimes you have great times, sometimes threaten to knock you down on the canvas, but as long as you have the attitude that today “I will move one step forward no matter, what” then you will be on your way back and officially on the comeback trail.Complaining on why things aren’t going great for yourself is a big waste of time, just like trying to win an argument on the cesspit of negativity which is social media-IT’S A COMPLETE WASTE of your energy when you can channel your energy and concentration to things that will actually benefit you, not worry you.The big question is are you going to continue to waste your time on things that really don’t matter, and neglect your health, which is something you can’t do without?Literally your choice. Living with fear and anxiety is deeply unpleasant and a sign you expect not so good things to happen.Your moods, the pain in your body, your anxiety and stress are all affected by what you decide today. No workout will make you feel like you are walking on water forever, but one workout today will set you on the path to feeling better, a workout tomorrow will help you gain some momentum and having faith in the process of moving more and eating better, will over time transform all of us.At a time of year when charlatans are trying to rob us of our money through diet pills and faddy exercise programmes and gimmicks, eating a little less rubbish and getting your behind off the settee EVERY DAY is a tried and tested strategy to make you feel incredible over time, boost your vital immune system to deliver you from anxiety and a life of negativity and stress. We all need to realise we all have a certain amount of days, weeks,. months and years left, and we had better make the most of them and live them well FREE of the things that may be destroying us right now, stopping us living with energy. drive, ambition and HOPE that indeed much better things are coming for us as long as we actually stop talking about it and take positive action daily.

Wednesday, 20th January

Your child/grandchild comes home from school, the teacher asks them to do something outside their comfort zone such as harder maths, try a sport for the first time, catch a ball, improve their handwriting etc, and they come home all frustrated hating the teacher and asking what’s the point?!!!Do you encourage them to go back and try again, and help them a bit yourself so they do better next time? Or do you tell them “you have tried it once, forget about it, you’ll never get better!!Naturally and hopefully, you will help them and encourage to try that activity as many times as it TAKES. The practice and repetition of that new found skill takes time, it takes encouragement, and it takes perseverance above anything else. With enough time, the child becomes better and feels an enormous sense of achievement and gives them confidence to take on other tasks that will develop them and serve them well in their lives to come.We encourage you daily through our live workouts, 100’s of shorter 8-10 minute workouts too, through our many, many beginner exercise workouts to do exactly that, we believe endless opportunities EXIST each and every day at your OWN pace.We strongly encourage you NOT to give up on yourself. It is a FREE country and you can quit anytime, you haven’t got to go to school but please look at it another way because you are a grown adult with multiple choices, the evidence is very clear.I believe in this country because we are free not to carry needless extra body fat around that kill our joints by making small changes, we are free to get more energetic and make a great life for ourselves through our choices, we are free not to listen to “the crowd” who tell us we aren’t good enough, we aren’t talented enough, we are too told, we aren’t intelligent enough, we are too much in pain, too rigid in our thinking etc.I strongly urge you today to keep moving every day, to get fresh air daily no matter what the weather, to eat as much good nutritious food as possible, the effect on your sleep and mood alone will be incredible. You can shop all the stuff you want online for a miracle vitamin or food, but it will never come close to exercising daily, eating well daily and getting better sleep which happens naturally if you do the first two.Make today the day, right when it’s the gloomiest weather and darkest days, when you make yourself a promise that through small changes over time, you will live healthier and better, you will see life differently and you will finally believe in yourself that you can do incredible things once you put your mind to it.
