Wed 11th Feb

I’ve been riding the bike down the gym for several months now, it’s sometimes been icy, often been wet, very windy and we have a seemingly record amount of storms. A few nice days thrown in!

Sometimes I have taken the car if I’ve had to pick things up I couldn’t carry on the bike, or leave the gym early to go to football, but that’s been about it.

One of the biggest takeaways I’ve taken from all of it is that I feel MUCH better when I’m on the bike, the exercise and fresh air changes my mental state and my wellbeing as a whole.

I am more energised when I cycle and I usually get way more things done, and it’s become MUCH easier cycling up the hill too.

When I take the car I feel sluggish, takes me longer to get going and to be honest I don’t feel right when I drive, or anywhere near as good as when I bike it.

Your own takeaways from your visits to the gym or do an online workout ought to give you an uplift in the way you feel, the way you move and the way you see life.

Takeaways from sitting on the settee all day are usually low energy, often low moods and feeling lethargic. The more you do it the stiffer you will get, and the less you do the less you WANT to do.

Use your workouts as the ultimate lift for your mood and the best way of feeling good over a sustainable period with zero side effects as well as keeping pain OUT of your body.

Tues 10th Feb

Starting……………..and not finishing is something we have all been guilty of over the years.

We have a great idea, then when it gets tough, we don’t always see it through.

BUT it’s the seeing it through no matter what that’s gives us our greatest lesson. We learn not to quit, we learn not to be scared of obstacles and we learn to start believing in ourselves.

Plenty of people will put us off, plenty will question why we try and do great things and plenty of people will offer a different and often much easier route to us.

We know by now though that showing up to our workouts continuously matters, it matters hugely we eat good food, it matters we have some discipline in our lives still-it’s old fashioned yes but its at the heart of what is needed to achieve great things and you wont get anywhere without it.

It’s only tuesday but you have started to have a good week by moving more and eating well, you have to finish this week off by not quitting, not putting workouts off, not succumbing to rubbish food and make sure you hit the sack early to energise yourself to get through even greater workouts as the week progresses.

Start……….AND FINISH every time, the only way to be proud of your efforts and accomplishments along the way!!

Monday 9th Feb

The power of routine should be your greatest weapon.

Three to four times a week, some even five times a week, put the work in continuously. From those continuous efforts come continuous and regular rewards.

Don’t be mistaken into believing your routine gives you the same old rewards. Working out regular is like compound interest, one improvement builds on top of each other, so last month’s level of fitness becomes no problem to achieve, and you surpass that easily now.

That’s the power of momentum too, once you get used to achieving good strength levels,  good endurance levels, good balance levels, good speed levels, good recovery levels, you want to continue those great feelings and BUILD on them.

Routine is much easier to stay in too, once you break routine it’s the equivalent of treading water compared to swimming downstream with the current WITH you.

Be kind to yourself, stay with the flow and keep showing up.

Friday 6th Feb

I know some people who have built their house, it was challenging, it had plenty of highs and many lows, many said they would never do it again (and then did!), the amount of work that went in required a vision of what was possible, and then a lot of hard to go out and get it.

Whatever stage you are in life, you need to have a vision, a sense of purpose that you are building something, and once you can start to see that, you automatically become more motivated to go out and work day and night until you get there.

It really doesn’t have to be a house, because your health ought to be above even that. Without your health you have not a lot, and by now you should realise that it’s working for daily.

It’s worth working through adversity, it’s worth working through excuses, it’s worth working through doubt, worry and a feeling of “can I really do it this time”. If anything is worth building then t’s worth WORKING for bit by bit, little by little, one foot in front of the other and step by step you WILL get there.

Tues 3rd Feb

FIGHTING negative thoughts out of your mind is your biggest challenge each day, because they will destroy from within if you let them flourish.

REMEMBER that positive thinking and your optimism is your competitive advantage.

I get occasional bad days as well as many good days, but the ability to remain optimistic during those time is hugely valuable to me and it took me a long time to develop that mindset, it doesn’t happen by magic though and it takes a long time to develop, but you must practice it and do your best daily and never give in to bad thoughts.

There is no value to you holding onto negativity, no future in you holding onto negativity, but when you have optimism you will likely take daily action to change your circumstances, and when you do that, only GOOD things are likely to come your way.
